A friend just gave me this nice little book

Jane Austen Companion to Love Little Gift Book by Sourcebooks

Jane Austen Companion to Love

It is a thoughtful little book, mostly just for fun, including quotations and illustrations from turn of Austen editions. (Do we say turn of the 20th century for 1900? I still don't know if that is correct.) Anyway, nice gift.

Yes, 1900 started the 20th century, but I think "turn of" might refer to the preceding century. I'll have to look this one up! :) I am totally not sure! lol

I think I attempted to look at it before but couldn't find the answer. Maybe the social history experts will report in on this question. Otherwise I will soon directing people to the wrong century! ha ha

Turn of the 20th century is 1890 to 1910 (according to what I googled) and that makes sense to me now.

That makes sense to me too. Thank you Jeannette. YOU may be the social historian we have been looking for! :-)
