Moonstar padded out of the leader's den to the fresh-kill pile. She selected a small sparrow and ate it slowly.

Moonstar swallowed the last bit of sparrow. "Hello, Tortoisekit. How's it going?"

"I don't know. I just woke up!"

Moonstar let out a small mrrow of amusement. "I suppose that's true."

Tortoisekit purred.

"Since there's apparently no one else up yet, how about we take a walk?" Moonstar offered.

"But I can't leave camp."

Moonstar smiled at this little kit's obedience. "If your leader says so, you can. After all, there's not much to do right now with nobody else here!"
