I just recieved my weekly newsletter from Rachel Vincent with the sixth book (Alpha) cover and blurb.
I love the shifter series covers.

I'm sure there are more, but I seem to be drawing a blank. I'll come back when I remember lol.

I agree with Melodie about Hush Hush and Twilight.

In general i really like the cover art made by Michael Whelan and Christian McGrath

I want a cover to peak my interest, but not to make me ill at ease or self-conscious about reading my book in public.

LOL! I agree! I live in a very conservative state, so I tend to only read books in public that have covers that aren't going to catch attention!

I liked THE DARK DIVINE cover, too. And I also think this is a really pretty, eye-catching cover: [image error] .

I didn't like the Night Huntress books at first. Took me a really long time to buy the first one because I thought the cover was cheesy looking.

Those are good covers!!

That's a really good point! I don't think that I've ever really noticed that, but you are right. Most of my favs have a pretty dark background with some gorgeous splash of color!

Yes, I work in a hotel and most of my job is down time while I wait to check in guests. That leaves a lot of time for reading. Its most embarassing when they come up and say what are you reading? Most of the time, I tape a piece of plain paper over the front and write my name really big across it under the guise that Im marking it as mine....especailly if theres a half nekked man or woman on the front. This is one of my favorites. The girl is just SO pretty!

there are loads of others but i cant think of them off the top of my head. plus designing book covers is what i eventually want to do with my life

Some other favorite covers of mine (several of which I have yet to read and one that I couldn't finish - so my appreciation of the cover is in no way a reflection of the pages inside).

My new favorite cover:

Can you say badass?? It almost looks like she's out of The Godfather or something.

I loved FALLEN, too!

I was referring to FALLEN. I loved it, too.

I have to agree with this. I am reading Darkest Pleasure at the moment, and every now and then I will stop and look at the front cover... hot hot hot.

Badass! (sorry, couldn't resist) I think that this has to be at the very top of my list. Somebody mentioned this in the Rachel Vincent fourm, but each book cover Faythe grows. You can literally see her maturing to where she is now.
And the cover is so damn awesome it wins hands down anyway!

I thought, "whoa, is that nail polish on Xhex's fingers?" Then I looked closer and saw the scratch marks. Could it be any more accurate than that?

I'm influenced by covers. A great cover will make me pick up a book, but I've learned not to buy based on a cover. Covers I love for books I love are:
Hush, Hush; Holly Black's Valiant; Twilight series; Elizabeth Amber's Nicholas the Lords of Satyr; Yasmine Galenorn's Witchling and Changeling; Anna Godbersen's Luxe, Rumors, and Envy; Megan Hart's Tempted and Broken.

Probably my top cover has to be for Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs. I actually found on her website a copy of the picture without the title or anything and that's the picture on the desktop of my computer. I don't know what it is about it, but I love that cover!
Another favorite is the series by Melissa Marr. I love all of those covers!
