Please keep this topic clean of spoilers. Here we can discuss when we are reading it, if we are enjoying it and so on :)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments I am onp age 60 of this book and I am not getting that really good feeling when I read a good book, it is not a book that is keeping me flicking the pages. Maybe it is because at the moment I am spoilt for choice for good books to read and i cant be bothered with this one.

Tracy (tracymm) | 43 comments Almost done with this book. Easy read.
but I think I'm might be missing some puns by not knowing the stories of the Greek gods. I know of them, and a few names, but that's it.

would love to know the signifigance (if there is any) of the Arch, the Lotus Casino, he train.
then again, I'm not ready to read the Iliad just yet either.

Tracy (tracymm) | 43 comments On another note, just one thing that is really irritating me: the author talks about miles, which if fair since it takes place in USA, but the weather is described in Celsius.
and at the bed shop on one page he uses feet AND cm, the same character jumps between these units.
just sharing my pet peeve.

I'll google it later, I saw the first print was in London, so is Rick a Britton? That might explain the wacky units

Don't think you'd have to read the Iliad :) When I have this problem I just google the names and read a synopsis of their stories on wikipedia or something.

Riordan is from Texas.

Also started this book today! So far a fast read, and I'm enjoying it :)

Sonette | 384 comments Emma: That actually happened to me to. It kinda dragged for a while. But keep at it. The story gets really addictive at a later stage. I think part of my earlier feelings toward these were as a result of Percy's age. NOT an age which I could really relate to at the time. BUT believe me his personality really grows on you... I love his sarcasm! I really hope you all get to read the whole series! I felt kinda robbed when I finished these books... What next? I hear Rick Rordian has hinted at a second series!

Shannon SA I picked this up looking for some light relief from recent NF and classics, I've reached about page 50 and I have to say I'm (unexpectedly) loving it!
