Yes Alyssa likes Sam in Defiant Hero, but trying to fight the attraction, because of Sam's behavior. He's bad! :)

You don't think that Sam would discipline Ash, if he needs it?
I know that Ash is spoiled to Sam. I've picked that up from the books. He'd be with Sam more than Alyssa, but I am sure, he's mommy's boy too.
I can see him mimicking Sam. Sam wears boots, he wants to wear boots.

Hey!
I'm sure that Alyssa kisses those fat cheeks of his.

I finished the Defiant Hero again the other night and I cried my eyes out when Sam had to tell Alyssa that he was going to marry Mary Lou. :(

Do you me Over The Edge? That's the book that Sam told Alyssa he had to marry Mary Lou.

Yes, sorry. Im re-reading the series in order and got that mixed up. Just finished Out of Control and I felt so bad for both Alyssa and Sam and also Mary Lou. I know what it feels like to not feel good about yourself. Poor Mary Lou, but the way that Sam defended her and actually admired her for her sobriety was great. Though I dont like how she deceived him. Sam is such a good man.
I love Sam too.
Sam is a very good man. The only reason why he wind up with Mary Lou is because he thought he was doing the right thing. The thing that he thought his Uncle Walter would want him and Noah to do, if they have gotten a woman pregnant.
I love Sam.
I love Sam.
I love Sam.
Earlier this afternoon, I was reading his part in Dark of Night, where he has a talk with Nash and let Nash change Ash's diaper. It's a cute scene.
Sam really loves Alyssa. She spoils him too.

That's one attribute of a good bad boy, Arch. They love so intensely. Of course, it would be hard not to love Alyssa . . . Vanessa . . . whatever.

True.
True.
Sam is truly a great guy. He is so torn up when he thinks that Haley is missing in gone too far. I'm just past that part and you really feel his pain. brockmann is a great writer

Although, I am not a fan of Suzanne. I have to give her, her props. She is a good writer.
I like the fight scene between Sam and Alyssa in Gone Too Far, in Wal-Mart. That scene spelled love to me.
Alyssa was telling Sam that she wasn't going to leave him and for him to trust her and Sam was telling her that he would never hurt her.
They told each other this without opening their mouth.

So True!
One of my favorite parts is when Alyssa tells Sam that he needs to give himself a f***ectomy. I laughed so hard at that!
Suzanne loves to write about the torchered, trying to fight the attraction type of love. Sometimes you just want them to pull their heads out and get to it!
I didn't like to see Sam cuss and Alyssa didn't like his cussing either. That's why she made that statement to him.
I would have to say that Alyssa was the one trying to fight her love for Sam. She was in love with him. She wanted him, but she didn't want his bad boy ways.

I don't know, I think she kind of likes him just about any way that he is, but there is room for improvement. She was fighting her attraction, for sure. Sam knew early on that she was the one, but felt he had to do the right thing by Mary Lou. Too bad that he didn't know about Noah's reason for marrying Claire before he married Mary Lou.
Totally! They feed off of each other in a good way, balance each other out. I love that Sam has accepted Jules for what he is and respects him. He is close to Alyssa and therefore needs to understand and be close to Sam.

I don't have anything against Jules. I don't read homosexual stories or even parts in regular books. I've skipped Jules parts when he was talking about being with another man or how he felt about another man and even when he was with another man.
I'll read his scenes with Sam and Alyssa, as long as the conversation doesn't have to do with them talking about his relationship with a man.
I have to admit, I hate that Suzanne had Jules have a crush on Sam and that she has written Jules his own Sam.
Robin didn't need to look like favor Sam.
In my opinion, she should have left Sam as being the only Sam. No copycat. Well, I can see Noah and Sam looking alike and even sounding alike, because they are cousins and that's normal for kinfolks to look and talk alike.
edit to say: I wanted to say that, because I don't read homosexaul stories/storylines, it doesn't mean that I am against homosexuals. I am against homosexuality and that's a difference. I will not get into details here. If someone wants to send me a message, please do so and we can talk about it in email.
I have had some of Suzanne's fans get upset with me, because I didn't want to read Jules story. All Through The Night.
As I have said before, I don't have anything against Jules, but I will not read where he's with a man.
Jules is a good person. I like how he cares about Sam and Alyssa. How he would die for either one of them and of course, they would do the same for him.
Suzanne's isn't the only author that writes homosexual storylines. I have skipped those storylines in other books as well.
I just wanted to make that clear, because I know that some people automatically label a person that's against homosexuality as homophobic and that's not true.

Interesting viewpoint about Jules. I too was unsure about Jules' storyline, but I was pleasantly surprised that All Through The Night was so well done and sensitive. I was glad that I read it and felt that I had extended a new part of myself by doing so. My background isn't conducive to accepting homosexuality, but I have found that I am tolerant of it in books. I can't say how I would feel if one of my kids were faced with that issue.
One thing in All Through The Night that kind of shocked me is that Alyssa wanted to get pregnant and Sam was having a hard time with that fact.
In Defiant Hero we find out about Alyssa's sister Lenora and her baby dying, but in Gone Too Far, Sam basically told Alyssa that she was going to have his baby.
And now, when she wanted to get pregnant, he gotten scared. He let his mind drift back to how Lenora died. He didn't want that to happen to Alyssa. I understand that, but what if he had gotten her pregnant in Defiant Hero, Over The Edge or even Gone Too Far?
I also didn't like the fact that Sam didn't want to spend a relaxing time with his wife in Florida. He was antsy. He had to move around. Needed to be doing some kind of action.
Really?
I didn't buy that. Just as I didn't buy Sam's behavior in Hot Pursuit. He was too soft in Hot Pursuit.
I never want Sam to stop being a bad boy.

I understand that. Sam needs to stay edgy. I haven't read Hot Pursuit yet, bu I plan to soon, since I'm reading the series in order right now. I guess I tell you what I think when I get there. Bu I kind of understand the part about him being antsy. He is a mover and a shaker. He needs to be going all of the time, with a purpose. so maybe he hadn't been going at 400 percent for a while, but I also see your side too.
I just finished Hot Target. How did you skip the parts about Jules? They were such an integral part of the story.
Hey Wendy,
You might see the same Sam in Hot Pursuit.
I really haven't read Hot Target, I've only read a little about Sophia and wanted to see why Cosmo wanted to be with Sophia.
I can't read about Jules being with another man or even thinking about another man or even talking about his relationship with another man.
Now, if he's talking about something else, like a mission or teasing Sam or Alyssa, I'm okay.

I guess I can understand that. Though I think that Jules and his quirky comments are hilarious. The fun and the love is what keeps bringing me back.
Wendy, I have created a Suzanne Brockmann thread, under the last folder on the main page called Authors Book(s) Discussion.
If you want to join the discussion there, you can.

Arch wrote: "How many books have you read so far? Please list the names."I have read most of Brockmann's books. Currently I'm on Force of Nature, though I need to find my copy. I am reading them in order so there you go. # what 10? in the troubleshooters series.
Ill definitely go to the other thread to make comments.
I love Sam too, just read the short in the back of Into the Night about Sam being in Italy. A great way to keep up with what Sam and Alyssa are doing in between stories.

I'm going to state my love for Sam today.

You missed a day in there Arch :)I just finished Force of Nature. And the little bit that Sam was in there as Jules' friend was so good. I love Sams strength and sensitivity.
I did huh Wendy.
I've actually missed two days. Let me declare my love for Sam for my two days missed.
05-15-10 I love Sam
05-16-10 I love Sam
And for today. I love Saaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmm! :)

The short story behind Force Of Nature was cute. Sam was bad for saying Girls Gone Wild. Alyssa didn't like that.

You right! hehehe. I need to get a copy of Hot Pursuit from the library. I'm not willing to buy a hard copy. I don't really like hard bound books. So I'm hopeing that it will come out in paperback eventually.
I prefer paperback over hardback, but I'll buy a hardback, if it's available and the paperback isn't.
I can't wait to see what you think about Hot Pursuit.
Sam isn't my usual Sam in Hot Pursuit. You might disagree.
