Yeah, Sam is a big guy.

We probably will have to just use rope on Sam, because he knows how to get out of cuffs.

Wendy | 95 comments Ladies, don't hate me for saying this, but If Sam was a real life man, we would hate him. We can see all of him and his personality in the books, but in real life, men are not as open to us. They hide too much of themselves until we get under all of those layers, and many times we are not patient enough to deal with it. Ive been working with my guy and trying to figure him out for only about 28 years. Still haven't seen all of his sides.

I don't hate you Wendy.

I know that some ladies read books for fantasy. I don't. I read, because I love reading.

As a writer, I know that a lot of stuff that's written in books are reality. A fiction book will never been 100% fiction.

I know that Sam Starrett is a character in a book, but there is really a "Sam Starrett" walking this earth. His characteristics.

Men can hide things, but so can women. Many men have a hard time getting their wives to open up to them.

Men and women aren't that much differnt.

A lot of men and women walk in the same shoes.

I like Sam's character. He wasn't afraid to let Alyssa see his reflection in his mirror.

Wendy | 95 comments I do love their relationship, and I loved that he was totally in love with her, and didn't stop loving her, no matter what. I also admire that he is comfortable with her being a strong woman, and with being a dad. That is a true man to me.

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments First of all, the real life SS looks like Sam Elliot, are we all agreed? Please say yes, because that's how he looks to ME and it would be nice if you all agree since we're gonna hafta CLONE HIM. I agree SS would be an imperfect man in real life but look, he was trainable! He got it! You know why? Because Sam is a true hero, as are all the wonderful characters Susanne Brockmann creates. In many stories, we say "the hero" meaning lead man but Sam and troop are really heros and I like that.

Cindi, please don't get offended, but I don't see Sam Starrett looking like Sam Elliot. At least not my version of Sam.

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments Yeah, I admit I picture a pretty young Sam E. Its mostly because of the lanky cowboy type they can both be! Gosh, it might take us as long to find the original man to clone as it took us to pick a cover boy!

This is my Sam (Bailey Chase/Butch), but with more meat on his bones. Sam has muscles.

and my Alyssa: In Unsung Hero, Alyssa is said to look like Vanessa Williams. Don't get me wrong. Vanessa is still a beautiful woman at her present age, but Alyssa is the younger Vanessa Williams, because Alyssa is younger than the present Vanessa Williams.

I wonder what Sam would do, if a man flirted with Alyssa in the front of him.

Tracy boldly flirted with Sam, even in the front of Alyssa. I'm surprised that Alyssa didn't do or say anything to her. To say that she didn't like Sam's comment about girls going wild, in their short story behind Force of Nature.

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments God, to be as beautiful as Vanessa whether younger or older . . . I like your Sam (who wouldn't?) but he looks to boyish to my mind. Am I just showing my age? Also, was there a mention in one of the books about Sam wearing a cowboy hat or something to make me see "Western cowboy" in my mind?

Yes, I am.

Who do you see as Sam? Josh Hollaway? That's who Suzanne sees him as. I did for a minute as well, but when I've seen Butch. My image changed.

Paul Walker! I like Paul Walker. He could be your Sam.

I've based my character Parris off Paul Walker. He's a Paul Walker look alike.

So, who's your Alyssa?

I don't see Alyssa looking like Beyonce, but everyone see characters looking different.

That's the good thing about having your own person to fit characters.

Halle Berry was my first choice. But, then I went with the young Vanessa, because she's described as looking like Vanessa.

I have even thought about Tamara Taylor from Bones. The AT&T girl.

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments I guess that's why its called an obsession . . . Anyway, isn't it neat how an author can create characters that just feel so real to us, how we can become emotionally invested in a made-up (sorry, Arch) guy and a made-up group of characters? There are a handful for me and I truly wish there were more. But I mostly wish I could see them LIVE!

message 89: by Arch (new)

Sam is a made-up guy, but so real. He's one of those characters, where he lives after the books.

Kathy, the high tension that Sam and Alyssa have in the other book is the same they will have in book six. Their book. Gone Too Far.

Take your time. Eventually, you'll get all the books with my baby - Mr. Sam Starrett.

I knew about Sam and Alyssa before All Through The Night came out. I've told two of my buddies that the Starrett was going to be parents and it was going to be a boy.
