"One last sabbatical year together. She wouldn't trade that in for anything. Apparently, he would. (p. 226). Why does John decide to keep working? Is it fair for him to seek the job in New York considering Alice probably won't know her whereabouts by the time they move? Is he correct when he tells the children she would not want him to sacrifice his work?

I was really mad at John when he seemed to want to move to New York. I didn't think it was fair for him to make a decision for himself and Alice. I wasn't sure he knew what Alice wanted or even really tried to consider what she wanted or would have wanted. I don't know if he was correct when he told the children she would not want him to sacrifice his work.
There were several times in the book when John was Alice's cheerleader but this wasn't one of them.
