The Pyromaniac00 (pyromaniac00) i am a fast read, and am out of books. my favorite auther is Darren shan, and i preffered his demonata series about 3 special kids who are part of a powerful, and highly destructive, prophacy. i like most vampire books, and prefer action to romance. violence is good, especially for vampire books, good plotline, and fluency. any book like that would be great to know about.

I'm in the middle of the Demonata series right now! I've only read the first two, but so far so good. It's good to see someone else that has read them - they don't get a lot of chatter!

I think you should check out The Monstrumologist. It's got about the same level of gore & violence as the Demonata books. There are these creatures called anthropophagi that feed on humans... completely and utterly disturbing. The Monstrumologist is supposedly the first in a series but I don't know when the next will be out or how many there will be.

Hey Haley - I've started a new thread for recommendations for you... Here's a link to it. If we can keep to one topic per thread it will be easier for everyone to find the books they want.

darkfreak - I changed the name of your thread so it will describe what you're looking for. Feel free to change it to something better though. I just thought "more books" wouldn't get many recommendations for you.

I nearly smacked my hand against my forehead when I realized I am reading a book right now that just might pique your interest. It's the Joe Pitt series by Charlie Huston. The first book is Already Dead. There are 5 books in the series and all of them are out. It's a noir style, gritty, dark vampire story. I should warn you that there is quite a bit of language though so only pick these up if you are okay with that.

Lily (lilithesque) Lilith Saintcrow, author of Strange Angels, can write pretty dark and violent and I enjoyed that book. Her foray into YA books is definately a softer gentler style. If your looking for some of her grittier work check out Working for the Devil (Dante Valentine, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow . I love it, but it is NOT Young Adult.

Lily (lilithesque) A very dark vampire book, with a different take on vampires is The Strain (The Strain Trilogy, #1) by Guillermo Del Toro

Lily (lilithesque) Classic vampire is not neccesarily bad vampire! Check out Salem's Lot by Stephen King
