And here continues our Survivor chat for those who are interested........

I can understand James' frustration but at tribal council he went out of control. That team just fell to pieces. I am not a big fan of Tom, he strikes me as a little holier than thou. I too am disappointed in 'gentle giant' James. He just lost it. I think they made a good move getting rid of Stephanie. She is a strong physical player but has a weak social game and she wasn't going to win anyway.

I think the Villains team is much more interesting to watch, especially the little romance brewing between Coach and Jerri!

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I've never been a Tom fan myself, for the same reasons, but the way that things went down last night made me take his side I guess. Stephanie shouldn't have turned around and said anything once "the tribe had spoken". I don't know what she was expecting to do. All that did was make things more hostile for Tom and Colby.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Coach and Jerri...ewwwwwww...but actually a good match....but ewwwww.

I deleted my posts on the other chat thread....sorry, Lee.

Oh well. Christine, You could have left them. We just thought that there was enough interest in Survivor for it to have its own thread.

I wish I was watching this season!

message 6: by Hannah (last edited Feb 19, 2010 09:23AM) (new)

Hannah (hannahr) Found you guys!! Good idea about starting a Survivor thread - especially for a season that is shaping up to be a real doozie.

I was soooo disappointed in James last night. While I totally understand his frustration, there was no call for him to be so hostile toward Stephanie.

This is not a good start for the heroes, but it sure does make for some interesting TV. I do agree that the villians are currently more fun to watch - who doesn't love those devious minds?

Lisa - why can't you watch it? Can you record it and watch later? It's not to late to start in. I've had 2 seasons that I came in on after several episodes and it wasn't long to catch up.

Lee (leekat) | 3959 comments Mod
Yeah, survivors who are voted off and then turning around to 'give advice' is kind of inappropriate if you ask me.

The Jerry and Coach thing has me completely fascinated. Did you notice how they are always together, around camp and paired in the challenge tasks etc. You can see their interest in each other just shining from their faces. It's hilarious! They both gross me out individually but together it's strangely compelling television.

I guess it's true that there is someone out there for everyone. Jeri is welcome to him - lol!

Jannahr, Hmm. The seasons I've watched, quite a few of them!, I've watched from beginning to end. I don't know if I'd enjoy coming in late. Hasn't this season had many weeks so far??? Well, I could. I'll be watching the Olympics next week but I could tape one and watch one.

message 10: by Hannah (last edited Feb 19, 2010 10:36AM) (new)

Hannah (hannahr) Lisa, you've only missed 2 episodes so far. I'm sure if you are interested in watching this season you could get caught up after one episode. Don't forget, they do show an overall game recap before each episode.

message 11: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 19, 2010 10:45AM) (new)

You can watch the entire episodes on the CBS website for free. They also post very descriptive recaps on the website if you don't want to watch the entire thing.

Hey, that would be a great wedding toast for them! Haha!!

message 13: by Lisa (last edited Feb 19, 2010 10:45AM) (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Habbahr and Christine,

Yeah, maybe I will watch. If only to participate here. I know many of them from previous seasons.

I don't think I'll watch the first two episodes on the internet, but maybe I will. Even though I'm addicted to a couple of tv shows, I've never used the web option. I don't have a very big computer screen and I think I'd have a hard time paying attention to it for so long (why I don't know given how much I'm on Goodreads!!! ;-) ) but thanks for that tip.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not crazy about watching episodes online either, but I have a few times when I was desperate (I know, that sounds ridiculous). That's why I like the recaps.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments I managed to see both Survivor and the men's figure skating, luckily (big fan of both).

It was the best premiere episode, last week, that they have had in many seasons, in my book. Two hours combined with returning players that don't have to be introduced to us, was a great combination.

Last night's episode was also very good.

As for myself, I am keeping an eye on (because their edit is not what I'd expect): JT, Candace, Jerri, Rob, Sandra, Coach. But I like or enjoy hating all of these folks.

Lee (leekat) | 3959 comments Mod
Is Candace the blonde who just teamed up with Cirie? I like that combination!

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, that's her. I can't remember anything from Candace's original season...weird. I have always liked Cirie.

message 18: by Lee, Mod Mama (new)

Lee (leekat) | 3959 comments Mod
I know, I barely remember Candace from her season either but I love Cirie. She's smart and sneaky in a very laid back way. She doesn't get all hot and bothered like everyone else.

message 19: by Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (last edited Feb 20, 2010 09:06AM) (new)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments Yes, that's Candace, Cirie's partner-in-crime.

She orginally was on the Cooks in Season 13, with Parvati. (The season Yul won over Ozzy.)

She was the original mutineer.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh! I remember now! Why is she a hero then?

Lee (leekat) | 3959 comments Mod
Awwww, remember sweet Ozzy? He was so cute! He got eaten alive by those girls didn't he?

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments Christine wrote: "Oh! I remember now! Why is she a hero then? "

No idea why she's a hero, frankly.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments Lee wrote: "Awwww, remember sweet Ozzy? He was so cute! He got eaten alive by those girls didn't he? "

Yup.

Ozzy should be on the heroes team. I wonder what he's up to these days.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments I should like to have seen a swim-off between Dolphin Boy (Ian) and Posideon (Ozzy).

message 26: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) You guys are corrupting forces. I watched the first 2 episodes online. I'll have to watch this week's episode online too because of women's figure skating/the Olympics. I recognize all but about 3 or maybe 4 of them. I missed a few seasons.

message 27: by Lee, Mod Mama (new)

Woohoo!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments From the previews, James loses what's left of his mind. Should be entertaining.

message 36: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) I can't stand him. Now, why is he a hero? I don't remember him well at all from previous season(s).

Actually Lisa, James was awesome in his previous season(s). He endeared himself to alot of fans (myself included), and was one of my favorites coming into this season. I'm real disappointed in his behavior. :(

Lisa wrote: "I can't stand him. Now, why is he a hero? I don't remember him well at all from previous season(s)."

He was amazing and sweet in his past seasons. I loved him, especially how he could laugh at himself. This season it's like a totally different person, and I am so disappointed in him.

message 39: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) He looks familiar but I can't remember why. Do you remember who the other cast mates were/locations? (I guess I can go to the stie - when I take some time - and look up everybody.)

Hannah (hannahr) Lisa wrote: "He looks familiar but I can't remember why. Do you remember who the other cast mates were/locations? (I guess I can go to the stie - when I take some time - and look up everybody.)"

James was first seen on Survivor: China, which also had Amanda and Courtney. Denise (lunch lady) was on that season. Also Peih-Gee. Todd ended up winning.

message 41: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Thanks, Hannahr. That's one season I missed/I might have seen one or two weeks only. I also stopped watching Africa the second they started drinking the blood. Then, I didn't watch much for a few seasons after that one.

I'm enjoying this season so far and know most of the people, which is fun.

message 42: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannahr) Well, well, well. That was an interesting eppy.

Good move to take out Randy early in the game. He's not really much of a player either physically or strategically.

The edit the producers give Coach cracks me up. All that mood music and scenic surrounds. How about that sun backdrop behind his head - lol! Epic.

James is officially off my favorite list. He's either taken too many steroids and it's effecting his mood or the producers gave him a heck of a good edit on his previous seasons. He's just a mean and vindictive person - yuck!

I like Russell. I do. I think his gigantic ego is hysterical and he's there to kick butt and take names. Next week with the HII ought to show us if he can take what he learned in Samoa and apply it here...

We shall see.

**Spoiler Alert**

That was an interesting episode. I realy noticed the editing too. They left out a lot of comments from certain players. Hardly anything from Rob this week.

I was reminded how much I don't like Jerri.

Did I miss something with James? I didn't see anything happen with him.

Russell and the machete. What a little sneak. The other players on his team have no clue what that guy is capable of. None of them would ever dream of doing the things he does.

And why do they always try and make Coach look like a serene Kung Fu guy on the beach? He is so full of it.

Randy didn't really seem to be into the game this time around so I'm not sorry to see him go. I'm glad they kept Parvati around, she's fun to watch.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

The James thing was so hyped up, and I saw nothing really either. Hmmm....
Agree with you on Randy.

My daughter was eating when they showed that and she almost choked...it cracked her up.

Hannah (hannahr) Lee wrote: "Did I miss something with James? I didn't see anything happen with him...."

During the immunity challenge when they matched James up with Randy (oh jeeze, that was a fair match up), after James bulldozed Randy into the mud he took the punching bag and literally flung in at Randy splayed in the mud. Someone on the villians team yelled something to James like "James, that was real heroic" and James turned and said what looked like "F---you" (they edited that out).

message 47: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannahr) If Russell can keep his head from exploding from the bigness of it, he might just win this thing. He's so devious. Even in a team filled with devious players, he's in a class by himself.

Coach is a J-O-K-E. All his crap about no one having "honor" and his quoting ML King and lecturing Russell on his relationship with Parvati....yeah, ok. Coach is in his own little world.

message 48: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannahr) Christine wrote: "My daughter was eating when they showed that and she almost choked...it cracked her up...."

Me too! I'm pretty sure the producers are doing it to spoof Coach (I sure hope so). It's so over the top and dramatic, that it must provoke the same laugh response in alot of viewers :)

Oh absolutely! You know that they are having fun with him. He, however, will probably take it seriously when he watches it. He's one weird bird.

I think you're right Christine. He is one of those people who can't even recognize when he is being ridiculous and over the top. I bet he will be puffed up with pride when he watches himself. He takes himself so seriously. blech!
