There are many Christians who would never consider doing something like that.

Good for them. The point is that Christianity and other religions are a direct cause of a lot of evil acts. Just because it doesn't cause everyone to act this way is meaningless. Not everyone who drives drunk gets in a car accident. Does this mean that driving drunk is good? No.
