Yip, you dig up things and play with trowels and brushes :) Also carry tons of buckets, sifting through tons of sand, removing bushes and so on.

Lu | 12664 comments Mod

I on the other hand am deadly afraid of dentists! So if you were one, I might not speak to you :P

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Hahahaha...
Nope, I had a pretty cool dentist when I was small, Dr Smook, he use to show us all his tools, he was older than my parents and very kind, so he would use the electric brushes and things on my hand first and demonstrate what it would to first, he would also let me watch when he worked on my brother...

Lu | 12664 comments Mod

I started a Archaeology blog, if anyone has a interest in it: http://thearchaeologistandthetrowel.b...

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok dumb question, but as I do just want to state to everyone, me and technology, we just dont mix so well, I kind of know what it is, and I've heard what its about and all, but what EXACTLY is a blog???? And Twitter? I do Facebook and thats about it...

message 26: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith what EXACTLY is a blog???? And Twitter? "

A blog is a 'web log' - it's basically an online journal that you share with, well, anyone on the net I guess. The content is entirely your choice - you can write about your day to day experience, use it to post book reviews, write about events or projects, etc.

Some people use it for professional reasons. I know of two books that were written using blogs. Some authors have blogs, and talk about their travelling experiences, new books, etc. Other blogs are about awareness eg. a feminist blog about empowering young women.

I'm less sure about Twitter as I haven't used it, but I've heard it referred to as 'microblogging'. It's like facebook, except that you just use it for 140-character status updates. But I might be wrong.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Lauren! That does explain it more :)
My problem is that I'm so afraid that mine might look like white paper with black writing on it... haha, I'm not so good with the decorating of things like that "linking" stuff and blah blah blah

message 28: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith No problem Niecole :)

I don't think you'd have to worry about what the site looks like. You don't have to design your own site from scratch. You can just use a blogging site like Wordpress and then just add your own pictures and so on. They will also have instructions for placing pictures, using code for italics or links, etc. It's not too complicated.

message 29: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12664 comments Mod
To answer the Twitter question, Its just status updates, and other people commenting on it. And that's it. I find it pretty boring myself.

Ah Niecole you don't need to worry about your blog not looking nice.

Blogger.com is sooo easy, they hep you choose a layout and colours and so on. If you ever decide to start one I'll help you :)

Loving Blogging by the way! (Maybe a bit too much tho :P)

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool, I'm writing down Wordpress right now :)
Thanks so much Lauren! I feel like such an idiot for not knowing how hehe

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments I do have an interest in biblical archaeology and would love to visit the British Museum in London, they have quite alot of information regarding the Assyrians.

I'm an archaeologist and my area of interest is Mexico. It isn't as much fun as you think it is, but it is very interesting.
@Emma: don't get your hopes up for the Britisch Museum. I'v been there like three years ago and I thougt it was a dissapointment. They do have some great middle eastern reliefs, but the other stuff like the Elgin marbles and the mummies are a let down. If you like middle eastern stuff then your best bet is Berlin. At the Pergamon Museum they have great stuff. Some times it's a replica but it really takes you back to that era and the artefacts at the British Museum barely scratches the surface and leaves you hanging.
