"Hullo, David!" Gates said cheerfully. "We're studying grindylows, this week. Nasty little pests."

A little green water demon in a tank eyed David, stretching its long fingers toward him.

Luna walked into the classroom.

Serena banged the door on her way in. "Hi Professor," she said in a hurried tone. She smiled and sat down next to David.

"Well, come on, come examine the thing!" Gates exclaimed with a grin.

"Use relashio," Gates said wisely as the demon leaped at them, then banged against the glass.

He jumped back as the grindlylow glared at him. "It is safe right?" he asked uncertainly.

"Yes, it is," Professor Gates smiled at Luna. "And it's perfectly safe," he promised. "As long as you use your spells. Relashio is the best for it. Why don't you demonstrate?" he suggested.

Luna nodded cheerfully. She raised her wand and pointed it at the tank. "Relashio!" she said. Red sparks flared out of the tip of her wand and the Grindlylow fled to the back of the tank.

What does it look like? Study the grindylow. By the end of this class, you must know what it eats, its habits, and how it gets its prey. Observe it," he ordered, before going to his desk to watch.

Serena smiled at him as he walked to his seat.

"I don't know who they are, but if I did I would tell you," Gates said seriously. "You can ask Mr, uh, Peeves, however. He knows every single student here."
