Stephen (act1966) | 18 comments Just noticed that "Small Wars" by Sadie Jones has a higher price for the Kindle edition ($17.00) than the hard cover ($16.49)!! I'm hoping it's a pricing error but not sure... have sent Amazon a note (publisher is Knopf/Doubleday/Random House). If this is a publishing strategy to purge ebook sales - they're only going to succeed at getting me to not buy Random House and imprint books.

Anyone else seen this situation...?

Diane U (djuseless) I just went to see the prices and the kindle price is $9.99. Here is the link:

Stephen (act1966) | 18 comments I'm getting $17.00 when I click on your link. I wonder if it's because I'm in Canada...? Here's the link I found it on:

Diane U (djuseless) It shows up as $9.99 for me in the U.S. so it must be priced for Canada for you.

Yeah, that's the canadian link, Stephen. It's telling me flat out "This title is not available for customers from: United States"

But Diane's link is saying $9.99

It must cost more in Canada.

Great. Now I'm being penalized for my nationality. When will the ebook pricing madness stop?!?! LOLLLL "Price it higher for Canadians... they don't read like Americans..."

I think it's because the value of the Canadian dollar is different than the American dollar. $9.99 American isn't the same as $9.99 Canadian.

Actually the CDN dollar is pretty close to USD right now (about $0.96) but I was kidding. It's more likely some of the inane content laws we have up here to "protect" heritage. Sigh.

Jonathan (jonathande4) International prices are different. Do you have to pay for whispersync delivery? Or is it free like it is in the U.S.?

Stephen (act1966) | 18 comments Whispernet is free here in Canada too (unless Amazon is embedding it in the price). I've noticed that books priced at $9.99 in USD at the Kindle Book Store are usually $11.99 when geography is determined (i.e. they figure out I'm coming from Canada).

I've also run into a situation where there's a different "version" (not edition) of a book that works for download in Canada but the other version (US) will not (and it'll say "not available in your area"). I notified Amazon that this is really an database design glitch that may be affecting sales. They agreed and asked that users send notes when they run into that.
