I'll be reading Gabriel's Ghost in December, since Shades of Dark is December's BotM and I'll probably feel lost if I don't. With me, I think that's why I have a hard time reading straight romance. There needs to be more 'oomph' for me, more substance. Like someone after the hero/heroine, added suspense. I still read them if someone hands it to me, but I won't go out of my way to pick it up. I'll let you know what I thought of GG and SoD.

Gina - I'm totally with you. I need that added "oomph". It also makes the romance oh so special lol.Yes, let me know what you think of Gabriel's Ghost. I think it's my favorite Linnea Sinclair book.
Gina, I'm the same. I need a book to have something powering the story aside from the usual hero/heroine exchange. And CJ, love Sharon Shinn's Houses series. Have you read it?
Just finished Society of S and going to read the sequel, Year of Disappearances next. It's YA vampire series.
I finished (reviewed) Heaven Sent 2 by Jet Mykles and Dream Chaser by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I started Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Broken Wings by V C Andrews. I am continuing to read Dark Embrace by Brenda Joyce.
new_user - no, haven't read anything by Sharon Shinn other than what I've read in anthologies. Is it any good, the House series?
I just found a series about werecats, I haven't started it yet but it looked interesting. the first book is called Stray by Rachel Vincent. has anyone read this yet?
Jess: Yes. I read it and loved it. Rogue is Book2 and there is Book3 altho I am not sure of the title. Are you a werecats fan? I am =)
Kenjii - I actually haven't read much about werecats. this will pretty much be my first series with them. I've been reading about vamps for a while, and then slowly went into werewolves and witches. I'm working my way through the supernatural world :)
I finished reading Patricia Briggs's Cry Wolf last week, but I've been so busy with end-of-the-semester work that I haven't had a chance to review it. Just two more weeks and then it's break time. Whew.
Right now, I'm re-reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, as I'm taking a Harry Potter course next semester and want to be sure I've re-read the series before class starts.

Just finished a marathon session of reading all four Twilight books back to back---LOVED them. I could do little else until I finished them! Then went on to Bloody Bones (5th Anita Blake book)--it was okay. I am not real sure on how I am feeling about the series as a whole at this point. Now I am on Pleasure Unbound (1st Demonica book) and so far so good! I am only about 7 chapters in, but I think I will enjoy it.
traceyellen, I loved Pleasure Unbound, waiting for the second book with bated breath, LOL.Mita, did you like the other books better? I like her SEAL series best. :)
new_user, I liked most of the breed books that I read from the EC line and I thought Megan's Mark was just OK. I've read that most people like her Seals books the best. I might need to get my hands on them.
Jess: I heard BITTEN was similiar to STRAY but done with werewolves. I can't remember my first PNR but my fave series has been The Dark Hunters and Riley Jensen Gaurdian series.I started a thread of the new series (where I've only gotten the first book) I have gotten from rec's.
Reading:
Acheron
Kenjii: I'm glad to hear they are similar because I really enjoyed Bitten. I love Kenyons Dark Hunters. Someone posted in the kenyon minions group that she will be writing soon about a whole different section of dark hunters, I think they were called the dogs of war, and they basically follow under Nick Guantier! that's going to be sick!!!Currently Reading: Kinley Macgregor's Knight of Darkness
Jess: Mentioning that Kenyon tidbit hit my DH fanatic sweet spot! Ha! I am not a check the website daily fan, but I am subcribed. I hadn't heard that about new DH's and Nick. Altho the war between him and Ash will be brutal.I am in like 5 GR groups so I have been online checking messages but I will be catching up on my reading tonight.
Reading: Acheron
Kenjii: I found the original posting. It is in this group in the paranormal romance section. It is under What's your favorite sherrilyn kenyon book. and it was posted by lori. there's a whole bunch more info, i think it was a newsletter that kenyon had sent out that lori posted. have fun!
traceyellen: I wouldn't want to put you off the book. The next one comes out in Mar, but I think it is worth braving the wait, LOL. Fortunately, I think the third book comes out a month later, which is a little more reasonable, LOL.
Pleasure Unbound is on my WL. Its good to see people enjoying it. =).Jess, I went over to the Fave Kenyon book thread after reading your post, lol. I saw that newsletter post. I keep forgetting Sherrilyn DOES write other series. I have read her BAD series but nothing else. I still adore the DH series tho. Thanks again!
Devouring(reading, hehe):
Acheron
Hi everyone - I'm in the middle of inventorying the books I own - I was at the point that I was buying duplicates, not good. As I am doing so, I am verifying everything the author has written and comparing it against what I own. Obviously this means I am verifying series and the books belonging to that series and of course the reading order. Since this doesn't always agree with what Amazon says it is (reading order often includes anthologies or online stories that get ignored in series notation by book stores). Since I am going to all that trouble, I decided to post the information where it is accessible so I created a group.
It;s not meant to be a chat group, just a reference point. http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1...

Hi Lori,That is a great idea. I did that last year. I built a bookcase just for my books (they were all in boxes) and organized them. I had several duplicates. I thought of putting a number on the cover to indicate the reading order, but I haven't done that yet.
-Joe-
New_User...I'm sure the next one will be on my impatiently awaiting release list (along with about 15 others that I can barely contain myself while waiting for them to come out). I should finish Pleasure Unbound tonight and already know I will be jonzing for more!!!
Joe - I have books in bookcases, in boxes in the garage, in boxes in our storage room.... I have inventoried 1261 books to date - an those are just the ones on bookcases here in the house. It's snowing here so to cold to go get books from the storage room.
Oh and that doesn't count the 180 I've done of my sons so far and that's only the ones he has in his room in boxes.
They're everywhere, they're everywhere!
Lori2
Hi Lori2....boy this is going to get confusing with two Lori's. I have a spreadsheet I can send you with a ton of books on it. Might help you out. Send me an email with your email address if you want a copy.
Hi Lori,You've got me beat. I only have 500 or so in my new bookcase. I build a bookcase for the garage that utilizes both sides and is on casters so that I can move it around. It is very small but holds 500 paper backs, 300 magazines, and 100 hard cover books.
I need to build another one if I'm going to come close to your quantity. LOL
-Joe-
Lori2, that's an excellent idea. I love reference sites; it helps when I need ideas on what to read next and what books are in order. I use Fantastic Fiction a lot, but I find some of the book series are out of order and I usually have to email them the correct one.Um, Joe? Would you mind coming over and doing that for me? LMAO! I have a 5-shelf bookcase that's completely full to overstuffed, a baker's rack completely full, 4 different piles of books, two boxes full, and the shelves of my computer desk house my TBR pile, not to mention the two boxes I have that haven't been read yet, LOL! That doesn't include the four milk crates in the garage full of books either, LOL!
Boy, do I have some organizing to do, LOL!
No Problem Gina. Let's see, I'll need airfare for me and my tools, a place to work, several sheets of plywood. It shouldn't cost more than $10,000 to $20,000. When do you want to do this? LOL-Joe-
Joe - Fortunately Joe I have a son-in-law who is a carpenter! I've been thinking about something for the garage - a two-sided on casters sounds perfect. You'll have to share the design. Lisa - yeh I found that little problem with fan fic too. I also use Essence of Romance (but it cost so I joined for a month ($5), worked frantically to get all I need). "All Romance Writers" but they often leave out self published and e-books and are notoriously not up to date. Even authors web sites are not always correct or up to date. Wonder why that is?

What am I reading now? I just (unfortunately) started re-reading the entire "Val Con and Miri" Liaden series by Steve Miller and Sharon Lee. I say unfortunately because I have TOO MUCH ELSE TO DO. And I just keep reading. (sigh) I've already done lOCAL CUSTOM, SCOUT'S PROGRESS, AGENT OF CHANGE, CARPE DIEM, and the one about how Priscilla and Shan met, (I've forgotten the title--it was the 1st one I re-read), and am now halfway through PLAN B. I'll read I DARE--I think that's the grand finale, and there's the Pat Rin book--or that may be I DARE... I can't remember. But it's like crack. Sigh.
I just reorganized my bookshelves a little while back. They look so much better organized, don't they? I admire them every time I walk by, LOL.traceyellen, I'm glad you liked it! I devoured it too, LOL. Join the eagerly waiting, LOL. ;)
I hardly got any reading done today. I was up til 4 am reading Acheron last night so I am about halfway thru. I have alot of side reading going on but Acheron took front and center when I started it 11/30.
I was in DC about 6 years ago and saw a woman on the Metro who had a list of all her books and thought what a great idea! So I started my own inventory, including even books I read from the library or borrowed from friends. I can't remember how many are on it now, but it's sorted by author (LNF), series number and then title. I print it up on 4 sheets per page (these old eyes need a magnifying glass to read!) about every 2 months and hope I can remember 8 weeks worth of purchases.A friend has a database on her PDA that she bought and it pulls up each book by the ISBN. Then when at Borders or Books A Million, she just pulls out the PDA and searches by author.
Oh, yeah, and I built a new Sauder 4-shelf bookshelf two weeks ago to get some (not all) stacks of books off the floor. My extra bedroom is lined with four bookshelves now.
Wow! that's why I asked for a kindle for a birthday and christmas present, so that I could stop filling up the shelves in my house!I think that I am going to be starting Mary Janice Davidson series sometime soon. and also JD Robb's in death series.
Jess - I have all of MJ Davidson's Undead and Mermaid series right now to read. If you havn't seen my post in the general discussion about here go check it out. I have all of Robb's and love them - they get read the moment they come in the house.
Immortals: The Darkening by Robin T. PoppI've heard ya'll mention this book and series-
would it be considered a romance read or NO-
And are the main characters recurring -one foot on the grave- trilogy type like JR WARD
A
Annette - there are 8 books in the series. They are written by 3 authors, Jennifer Ashley, Joy Nash and Robin Popp, the first 7 are novels and the 8th an Anthology. Yes they are definitly romance a romance series. But definitly paranormal with witches, fae, vampires, werewolves and other magical creatures plus the main Alpha males are the Immortals. Books 1-5 tell the story of 5 half immortal brothers and then 6-7 and 8 are about secondary characters.
I have really enjoyed them so far (I've read 1-5) 6-8 are all on order. Can't wait to get them.

I'm reading the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and loving it. Can't wait to read the rest of the books.
I loved that series (Black Dagger Brotherhood). All of the characters seems so real to me. Powerful beings with the same fears and insecurities that I have.-Joe-
