Carol Neman | 469 comments Anna, I first decided to read In Cold Blood because I was a somewhat fan of Robert Blake (he played one of the killers in the movie of the same name) and was later interested in both Capote and the novel because it was a first of kinds. Some authorities trace the beginning of the True Crime Genre to this very book and that Capote was the first to research an actual event, interviewing people that knew the family, as well as both of the killers, to get a psychological insight and not just a horror story or who-dun-it. I also like books that were written awhile ago, and I can say that this book is probably considered somewhat of a 'classic' by some.
