Lisa Dyas (lisa_dyas) I think that I read more than 50 books a year, but I think that this will be a fun way to challenge myself to read a greater variety of books.

Lisa Dyas (lisa_dyas) 1. The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey by Trenton Lee Stewart

I've been reading a lot of YA/kid lit lately, but it's fun and a good balance to my work world - family homelessness, heavy stuff.

Lisa Dyas (lisa_dyas) 2. Extras (Uglies, #4) by Scott Westerfeld

I think that the Uglies series is enjoyable and I really like the author's take on what society will be like when we finally destroy everything. I'm enjoying Extras because it's giving me some additional insight into what it means to be a young person in this age of constant contact: texting, facebook, twitter and a growing obsession with fame and celebrity.

Lisa Dyas (lisa_dyas) 9. The Magicians by Lev Grossman

This book was such a disappointment. I rarely give up on a book and I was tempted several times to let this one go. The characters were underdeveloped and the fictitious world of Fillory (a Narnia inspired series of books that the characters in the book refer to often) was over explained. I also couldn't understand why Quentin, the main character, hated his parents, or Brooklyn that much. He lived in a brownstone in Park Slope, how hard could life be?
