New Health Rule...Stop Worrying About Your Health
So do we, Larry... in the main lobby of the hospital behind the glass wall that's behind the information desk.
No toaster, though...the vending machine acknowledges how good pop tarts taste untoasted...in fact, I can't remember the last time I actually toasted a pop tart.
I haven't toasted a pop-tart for quite awhile either. But then it's been awhile since I've had a pop tart, but having them in the vending machine would be handy.
I can't complain. We have a fabulous cafeteria in the building where I can get an amazing array of things for breakfast or lunch. Oh, and I can toast the bagels, too.

I thought everyone has Pop-Tarts in their vending machine...
This is some nice advice, but, ultimately, "perfect health" is more than just myth; it's subjective. Just because you're a leggy supermodel who lives on a raw food diet doesn't make you healthy; for all we know, that leggy supermodel may be genetically prone to endometriosis or leukemia, and all her "healthy living" won't put a dent on that.
All in all, not worrying about your health is easier said than done.

I'm going to occupy that middle ground spoken of and eat my pop-tart. My partial solution to moderately healthier living? Take the stairs (within reason) and excise almost all condiments from my food. Hence, no pop-tarts with the frosting - unfrosted only.
I love the toaster in the break room, but I'm not eating Pop Tarts. My vending machine doesn't stock them.
I have mixed feelings about that article. I wholeheartedly agree that if people are constantly stressing and worrying about their health, then it ends up being detrimental to it. But, since I've had to change so much about my diet in the last few months (granted this is because of chronic health conditions) I've learned so much about how awful most prepared foods are, and how many of us just don't realize what it is that we're taking into our bodies that hurt us without knowing it. I do believe that moderation is the key, and that life is to be lived not felt guilty about, but we also need to learn as much as we can and be mindful about staying away from processed foods & chemicals which can cause unforeseen results even when eaten in moderation. Same thing goes for exercise for those of us too prone to sitting in front of our computers all day long. (Yea, hold up your hands if you fit this - I am) But, we should count the little things we do that benefit us as well. But, walking to the fridge to mow down on the last quart of ice cream, maybe not.
Exercise is the key to good health, in my opinion. It strengths our muscles and bones. It pushes blood through our system cleaning our veins. It produces endorphins which make us feel good. It reduces stress which reduces disease.
just got on our freight scale at work and i am clockin' in at a very thick 217. perhaps my all carb holiday diet has not been the best of ideas
i def need to go for a walk. it is about 16 degrees here and snowing more but i could use the exercise for sure. thinking about a walk in the snowy woods tomorrow with my faithful buddy Lucy

PS - untoasted pop tarts taste 100% better than toasted pop tarts. I don't heat up my jam, why would I heat up my pop tart?
I think I would like my jam heated up. I hate how the jam cools off my toast, and always love the first spoonfuls of jam, when the jar has just been opened, and hasn't been refrigerated yet, the best.
Ohhh - that reminds me - I love being the one who gets to open containers and take the first portion out; butter, jam, peanut butter... you get to make that first indentation, or take the little swirly middle part of the tub butter...

I love opening a fresh jar of coffee. The fake smell that they seal into it is lovely. (I don't drink coffee, but I love that smell)

Just here to help out.

When you break the seal on Nescafe Coffee there is a smell that comes out. It's not the coffee. It's a special smell that has been sealed into the jar. It's released when the seal is broken.

The smell makes me wish I drank coffee! But sadly the taste never lives up to the smell. :(
Hmmmmmmmm petroleum byproducts. Do they sell it by the jar?

Are you sure that's fake smell? I'm confused. What's the difference between a real smell and a fake smell? It's too early for me to be considering such questions, really.
OK, the words I was looking for were artificial coffee smell. I was at work and in a hurry. Or I could have said fake coffee smell. Everyones a critic.

Well, the fake coffee can't be any worse than the real coffee. Both smell and taste. How about the taste of so-called fruity items? I always wonder where artificial grape comes from.
And why does grape flavored candy taste nothing like an actual grape? It's like there's nature's group, then there is the commercial grape. Thanks, Jim! :)
Good point. It's like some Einstein came up with a number of random flavours & miscellaneously attached fruit names to them. (Obviously in a very effective way. Those flavours haven't changed at all over the years!)
Doesn't everyone!?!
Yes, I've noticed you don't like to talk to people.

Were you up at 3 am?

I love melatonin...thanks, but I've got a ton...I just took some now. I was free and clear of insomnia for a couple weeks, but last night it returned. Sunday nights are usually the worst...I worry about not sleeping, and that keeps me from sleeping. A doctor has me meditating and changing some other habits as well. How are you sleeping?

In the new book, “Live a Little! Breaking the Rules Won’t Break Your Health” (Crown), Dr. Love makes the case that perfect health is a myth and that most of us are living far more healthful lives than we realize.
What do you think? As far as I'm concerned, this lady just gave me permission to get a pop tart from the vending machine...:)
