Rebecca Rasmussen | 6 comments Hello, my name is Rebecca Rasmussen. I know this is strange, but my favorite comfort read is Gilead by Marilynne Robinson -- it's my kind of church, I guess, and it always restores my faith magically.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Hi, Rebecca. So glad you found us. No book is a strange comfort read here. As a group, we have very eclectic taste!

message 803: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Rebecca, And, the book is already on our shelves, so at least one other Comfort Reads member has it as a comfort read too!

message 804: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Rasmussen | 6 comments I love eclectic taste! Funny, I didn't notice it on the shelf. I have to peruse more carefully...thank you for making me feel so welcome :)

Linda (mspianobug) Good Morning Everyone: My name is Linda, I live in Toronto and I am a retired piano teacher. Now I am enjoying a lot more time to read and having a wonderful time with it. already this summer I have read 15 books. I am happy to have found this group and hopefully I can contribute some good reads too. Almost every book that I enjoy is a comfort book, really, but I am not into any kind of extreme violence, love mysteries and stories in general.

Maria, welcome to the group!! I hope you enjoy it here. Oh, and if your favourite books are the Anne of Green Gables books (mine as well), you should join the "Kindred Spirits" group here on Good Reads, it's a group devoted to Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Lee, I think you'd like Stolen Lives: Twenty Years in a Desert Jail. It's very grim in places, but so good.

In my spare time, I like making my own jewelry, spending time with Daisy, my maltese, floral arranging, reading and of course, goodreads. I think as of right now, my favorite comfort read would be Saving CeeCee Honeycutt. Look forward to meeting all of you!

So many people I know from other groups are here. My comfort read is the Harry Potter series. I can read it over and over and still enjoy watching the movies. Especially if I have some hibisicus tea with honey or a nice cup of hot coffee near by.

Yes, but who's counting? :D

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I'm Kate. I've been on goodreads about a year now and was looking for a new group and found y'all.

For those that like Harry Potter, have you checked out the unofficial fan sequel series that follows Harry's son James to Hogwarts? You can find them free here: http://www.jamespotterseries.com/

James Potter and the Hall of Elders' Crossing
James Potter and the Curse of the Gate Keeper
James Potter and the Vault of Destinies

They are very good. The first two are 400 page ebooks. The last is around 500 pages.

message 848: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Kate! I've seen you around goodreads; welcome to the group!

Thanks for the links. I had heard of this series but I have never given it a try. I like Harry Potter and I like free books. :)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Thanks Lee. I discovered them awhile ago. They're very good. My son is now on book 3. I've also befriended the author online.
