Vitali (vitalinew) | 87 comments I want to add the photo of Peter van Inwagen from his homepage, but I am not sure about the copyright. Can someone tell me if this is ok to add the photo?

Author photos on their own sites are almost always copyrighted by them. That means unless you get permission (or find another photo which is not copyrighted), you probably should not add the photo to GoodReads.

Unfortunately, there is no picture of him on Wikipedia (a good source for usable pictures, as per their policies). Looking more closely at that page, the photo most likely belongs to the university. You could try emailing their PR department, if you wanted to. :)

I'd also suggest asking the author - usually they will comply. You can also ask them to sign up too :)
