Joyce Dale | 135 comments I only had a couple of M/T books this month but I'm getting a lot of good recommendations here!

Breathless by Dean Koontz - Although I loved most of this book, the ending felt very rushed and unfinished to me. It left me wanting to know more. Parts of the book reminded me of Watchers, but it never quite achieved that depth. There were also parts of the book that seemed completely unrelated to the rest and I never really figured out why they were there (the guy who killed his brother for instance).

The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver - I read this for my book club and enjoyed it more than I expected to. An interesting story, although a bit pat in places. I plan on reading the sequel.

This Is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Trooper - This was a cute, fun read but I felt the author was trying too hard sometimes.

Nine Dragons by Michael Connelly - loved it. I found the combination of Harry's personal and professional life intriguing and will be interested to see how he deals with his daughter in future books. Michael Connelly is one of the best modern mystery writers out there IMO.

My Enemy's Cradle by Sara Young - This was interesting look into the "baby factories" during Hitler's reign. I thought the writing could have been better, but the story was gripping.

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert - I don't see what all the fuss was about with this book. I couldn't even get through the section in Italy, which everyone said was the best. I lost patience with the author and her whining.

You had a good month! We do usually have some great recommendations in the posts here. I have Breathless A Novel in my tbr pile ready for a good time to read it. Your comment about books where it seems the author rushes the ending happens more than it should IMHO.
I hope to get to Nine Dragons soon, I am waiting my turn at the library.

Joyce Dale | 135 comments Ann, good luck on getting Nine Dragons - it will be worth the wait. I try to use the library as much as possible, but Connelly is one author whose books I buy as soon as they're released.

I'm glad I'm not alone - I also could not get into Eat, Pray, Love.
