Introduce Yourself!
Hey everyone,Just came across this group. Looks pretty cool.
A little about me, I recently published my debut novel, "Red Leaves and the Living Token." http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KFGS36. I've been working on this story for a long, long time. So I'm pretty excited to have reached this point. The story actually started as a screenplay, strangely enough. I started my career as an aspiring filmmaker, writing script after script for live action. Eventually, I kind of migrated to CG character animation as a day job while continuing to write on the side.
This novel grew out of a script that I was hoping to develop for animation production. By the time I had the script finished, however, it was over 300 pages, which is 3 times as long as a low budget animated feature needs to be.
I have to say, I love the novel format. Now that I've successfully converted one of my stories, the rest are sure to follow.
If you're curious to see what the animated feature adaptation of the novel might've looked like, the book cover is a good indicator. All the characters on the cover are CG, pre-rigged for animation. I'd love to do a small short film with them at some point.
Hello, my name is Madison Johns and I primarily write mysteries, most recently I published a cozy mystery, Armed and Outrageous. I smile and laugh often, and it's my greatest joy in life to inspire others to do the same. I love social media in all forms and would love to get to know you, any of you that find me in any way amusing.
Life is not always about the destination but the people you meet along the way. Smiles. :)
Hello everyone,I'm Michael, from UK, and I've just released my debut novel 'The Super Spud Trilogy'. My book is about magical potatoes called Super Spuds who, once placed in crisp packets, come alive if they're not eaten by their use-by date. People usually give me a weird look when I tell them what the book is about, especially the staff in Waterstones, but it's fine...
I'm excited to be a part of Goodreads and it's great to have my author profile up and running. I'm looking forward to interacting with fellow authors and readers. Thanks.
Greetings!I'm JoAnn Hague, author of DANCING THROUGH FIRE, an ebook published by Tuesday House: http://www.amazon.com/Dancing-through...
DANCING THROUGH FIRE is a carefully researched account of the events from 1775 to 1782 which culminated in the massacre of more than 90 Christian Indians at Gnadenhutten in eastern Ohio. All historic events are actual, and all secondary characters are real.
Although fictional, the novel's main characters are accurate depictions of Indians and Moravian missionaries of the Revolutionary War period.
I look forward to hearing from both authors and readers.

Hi Everyone,My name is Miles Gentry and I am an avid reader/researcher as well as a first time author. My book Spontaneous Combustion: Enlightenment and the Cosmic Crucible is a newly released non-fiction work.
As I am new to Goodreads, I'm still working on a few details of my author's profile, but all are invited to stop in and say hi. It would be nice to make a few friends here as well. :)
It's good to be here, and I hope to meet many of you soon.
My name is Dee Ann Waite and I'm a writer. Hmm, sounds sort of 12-step, ya think? Anyway, I've written my first novel, The Consequential Element, which I will be e-publishing with an estimated launch date of June 28th, 2012. I'm nervous. I have hopes and dreams for this book. Does anyone have any particular advice on e-publishing? Have you been there/done that? Would absolutely love to hear from you. Thanks and best wishes to you all.

Tom Conrad is an emerging young writer and author of The Afterlife Crisis Trilogy. He is a copywriter by profession, though in his spare time he edits and runs The Indie Pedant, a small but growing magazine-type website. He likes mystery, fantasy, sci-fi and realism in equal measure and currently is working on no less than eleven future novels. Finally, as this blurb demonstrates, he rather enjoys talking about himself in the third person.
My début novel is FREE to download don Amazon, this w/e only.

I appreciate this opportunity to join the group. I have written a book that is historical fiction for preteens, but some people believe it is also a parable for adults about racial equality and religious tolerance. Please see reviews on Goodreads for Bullheaded Black Remembers Alexander by J. L. Taylor and you may like to look at the comments from foreign diplomats on www.bullheadedblack.com.Thanks, John

Hey! We were born the same year! What a coincidence!
And yes: Moggy adopted us and does not intend to let us go! Lol! She's the first cat I've ever had.
Hello all! It's great to be here on Goodreads, and I'm looking forward to talking about books with everyone here. I'm a 50-ish father and husband who is fortunate enough to have lived an interesting and active life. I've had one fantasy novel, Dragon Fate, published, with the sequel, Dragon Blade, due out early in the summer of 2012. My work experiences include such diverse occupations as automotive mechanic, cowboy, photographer, psychiatric tech, paralegal assistant, bouncer, and medical billing clerk. I studied martial arts for over 30 years. I've been a soldier and an emergency medical technician, and I served as the chief of a volunteer ambulance squad. I was a diamond courier for a while, and later owned a working kennel where I trained dogs for law enforcement as well as personal protection, and most recently, I've trained one service dog, for myself. I don't get around much now (I've been shot, stabbed, blown up, bludgeoned, poisoned, and even had harsh language directed toward me, if you can believe it, and it takes its toll), but I write (and read!)whenever I can. I have pretty wide-ranging interests and hobbies, including, but not limited to, history, archery, paleontology, cooking, RPGs (the games, not the weapons) and making jewelry. I live on the Space Coast of Florida with my wife, my son, and my Great Dane service dog, until I can convince the rest of my family and friends to move to Arizona. If you want to get in touch with me to ask questions, leave comments or feedback, or request review copies or appearances, you can find me on the Web on Facebook, Google+, and Goodreads.com as (surprise, surprise) J.D. Hallowell, or you can e-mail me at JDHallowellBooks(insert "at" symbol here)gmail.com.

Hi, DeeDee!
I have had some adventures, for sure, but I think that, like many adventures, a fair number of them are probably more enjoyable as stories than they were as experiences!
At least now that I'm writing, I can file my mis-spent youth under "research".

I am Scott Seldon, a science fiction author. I count Isaac Asimov and George Lucas as two of my greatest influences, at least when it comes to the setting. My stories are about people first and foremost. I write stories about people living in the far future surrounded by astounding technology.I have three ebooks out at the moment. Edge of Hyperspace is a short story collection. Well of Dreams is my first novel about smuggler Ven Zaran when he gets targeted by a crime syndicate. Both Edge of Hyperspace and Well of Dreams are available at most ebook outlets. I also have a novella, Not Past Redemption, available exclusively at Amazon.

My name is Kevin John Grote. I was born in Western Pennsylvania near the Chestnut Ridge. I am currently working on 1745 House of Gallowglass, the second in his series "The Jacobites."
My historical novels are set in the UK in the 1740's. I am working on two series at the same time, "The Jacobites" set in the Highlands, and "The Highwaymen" set in Kent and London.
I grew up in an area steeped in the French and Indian War. This series of novels reflect that time period as his characters mature into adulthood against the backdrop of the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745-46.
I graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, serving as an Engineering Officer in the Coast Guard on several cutters. I worked for the Navy as a Systems Engineer until my retirement from Federal Service. I have a US Patent, and have authored many technical papers on electronic design, software engineering, and information systems.

My publisher tells me an effective tool to promote my book is the elevator test. He encouraged me to construct an exciting summary and be able to present it in the time it takes for an elevator to travel from one floor to the next (approximately 25 seconds). So, rather than spend my fading limelight and your evaporating interest introducing my self with the usual, ‘Hi. My name is Lance LaCoax and I’ve written a novel…’ I have decided instead, to razzle-dazzle you with my swanky, 25-second book description extravaganza. Mind you, it took more than a few sleepless, coffee-infused nights to piece together such a tantalizing and intricate string of literary marketing genius. So please, don’t be surprised if after reading it, your fingers uncontrollably catapult you to cellardoorsbook.com for a taste of the chapter preview. Okay. Wish me luck; here goes: My new novel, Cellar Doors, is a paranormal thriller with a twist…

Hi Vincent. Thanks for this group. I am Destiny Allison, author of Shaping Destiny: A quest for meaning in art and life. The book is currently ranked #7 best in category on Kindle based on customer reviews. I chose to self-publish. It makes much more sense for me and I am learning a ton every day. My book is a non-fiction story about art, life, and passion. It asks some hard questions, is really honest, and hopefully inspiring. If you are trying to figure out how to move your life forward, or just want to know what it is like to be an artist, this is a good book for you. Shaping Destiny

Greetings Linda (LM)...and welcome to the group!I don't read much fiction, but your book description has me interested and intrigued. Sounds cool!
Hi,I've been working hard on every kind of writing for many years. I was also an Sr. Tech Writer for some years. I have a few books currently out, mostly in the Horror genre, but bits of everything. My latest books, Death of Heaven (deathofheaven.com), isn't lightweight so, choose carefully should you get an urge to read it. But it's not intense in the ways you might think. I've also been working hard on screenplays, something I first trained on at University and later for a couple of years at a production company. All this is available on my web site, jzmurdock.com
Cheers!

Hello everyoneMy name's Tim Stevens. I've recently joined Goodreads, and I've posted more about my debut thriller Ratcatcher in the Welcome section of the 'Thrillers' category.
I'm a devotee of all the great thriller authors - Lee Child, Gerald Seymour, Adam Hall, Jack Higgins, Alistair Maclean, to name but a few - and I'm in the mood to discover a lesser-known writer who preferably has a sizeable series under his/her belt, so I can delve in. Any recommendations?
Thanks
Tim

My stuff, in general, is a mix of genres, but is primarily science fiction. There are lots of martial arts (think Shaw Brothers in space!) along with some fantasy and horror elements as well.
