I have a new book out end of June called Latitudes - A Story of Coming Home, and about the same time am going to release in paperback the second edition of Birdman, which i wrote a few years ago now. Birdman, and my second book French Pond Road, are both available as ebooks on Amazon, and soon on Smashwords. I'm a proud indie author. I'm looking for connections to readers, book bloggers, and loving the buzz of this Goodreads site. So much going on! Here's my web address http://anthonycaplanwrites.com

David Mcgarry | 9 comments Hello, my name is David McGarry. I have published a non fiction ebook at Amazon called The Atlantis Precedent (www.theatlantisprecedent.com). The first half of this book is about civilisations that have already been vanquished by climate change and the second half covers the climate change-related threats we are all facing today, including one real danger that could cause devastation at any time.

The entire book can be read in your browser for free by visitng the goodreads page: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...

Like anyone who has self published, I need to generate interest in my book, so I would really appreciate it if any goodreads member would review it. I'd be happy to email them a pdf or kindle version. I fully respect the impartiality of anyone kind enough to consider writing a review.

Through Christina's Eyes (available on amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, ibooks and smashwords.com)describes the mostly unknown history of the Swedish immigration to America and the impact of Christina and her family. Perhaps another forum member can help me out here. I didn't write the reply to Debra posted above that starts "Hi Debra!". I posted another response above that and I have filled out the submission form for readersfavorite.com

Does every author named David who is a member of the forum get referred to by the same name? It's no big deal in this case, but it could lead to a lot of confusion in other circumstances.

Grampy (goodreadscomgrampy) Hi, Vincent! My username is Grampy, because last October my son and his wife had the most wonderful little boy ever born. (Not so little... 10 lb, 6 oz, 23" long.) I'm 58, retired, and have 2 Kindles, the Kindle reader and the Nook reader on my laptop, and around 6,000 books amongst them all. Obviously, I like reading and spend a lot of time doing it! (If my grandson didn't live 2,000 miles away I wouldn't get nearly as much reading done.)

Anyway, glad to be here. You all keep writing, and I'll keep reading!

By the way, my avatar is Jenny, our dog of 16-1/2 years. She had a stroke in February, and we had to have her put down. In her honor, I replaced all my avatars with her picture.

Mia lives in NYC and is at work on a work of non-fiction. Claire is working on a novel. She's also a life coach, creating some new coaching courses. We're both national public speakers, on topics such as child sexual abuse, overcoming adversity, personal transformation and the mother and adult daughter relationship.

Alexandria (alexandriaconstantinovaszeman) Hello, Goodreads Authors & Readers,

I've just discovered this site, and am delighted to be here. My first three books, THE KOMMANDANT'S MISTRESS, ONLY WITH THE HEART, and MASTERING POINT OF VIEW, were all published under "Sherri" Szeman because the editor @ HarperCollins insisted my real name - Alexandria Constantinova Szeman - "wouldn't fit on the cover of the book" and wanted an "easy" first name to go with my "hard" last name.

The 2nd & 3rd editors/publishers didn't want to "lost the name recognition" of THE KOMMANDANT'S MISTRESS and so didn't want to use my real name. I was so disappointed.

Thank god I found editors/publishers for my next books who laughed at that idea. My first three books are being republished this year under my real name (THE KOMMANDANT'S MISTRESS is already out as an ebook), in Revised, Updated, & Expanded Anniversary Editions, with discussion questions, scene indices, and Author's Preface (as ebooks & Trade Paper). My four new books will be out before June (as ebooks) and as Trade Paper by September.

Glad to be here, and hoping to connect more easily with all of you who've sent me emails over the years asking questions about the books, the film options, what I'm working on now, etc.

Best,
Alexandria Constantinova Szeman
(formerly writing as "Sherri")

I'm originally from the San Francisco area but have been in the Midwest for several years. I write primarily literary and science-fiction and read pretty much everything. I love Italo Calvino, J.G. Ballard, Jonathan Lethem, Haruki Murakami, Margaret Atwood, and Saramago.

Barbara (joyfulpaws) Hello! I am author, Barbara Techel and I became inspired to become an author when my dachshund, Frankie suffered a spinal disease and became paralyzed. I realized I had a beautiful opportunity to educate children to be positive in the face of challenges through Frankie's example. It's been an incredible, blessed journey. I'll be sharing all I've learned from my "dog on wheels" in a book I'll be releasing in 2013 called, "Through Frankie's Eyes: One Woman's Journey to Her Authentic Self and the Dog on Wheels Who Led the Way."
My hope is to inspire others to see disabled pets in a positive way, as well as inspire others to follow their hearts and live with passion and authenticity.
To learn more you can visit my website, www.joyfulpaws.com or http://www.goodreads.com/joyfulpaws

Anthony Paolucci | 3 comments Hello all. My name is Anthony, and I've been self-publishing my work for the last 3 years. I'm primarily a children's author, but I've also done a couple of books for adults. Lately, I've become partial to the YA realm and think I'll be staying there a while. Presently, I've written and published 16 children's books (various artists), 3 YA books (4th on the way), and 2 books for grownups. The subjects and genres vary, but I'm partial to edgier stories and topics. All of my books are on Lulu.com, but many are available in paperback and Kindle format on Amazon.com.

I'm not looking to be the next J.K. Rowling (as amazing as that would be), so I mainly just sell and promote my books at fairs, conventions, and farmer's markets. I also read them at schools, daycares, and the library, so what initially started out as one book for my very young daughter has turned into a very rewarding experience overall.

I also have a website: www.anthonypaolucci.webs.com

Silvia Pettem (silviapettem) | 4 comments I'm a longtime historical researcher, newspaper columnist, and author of more than a dozen books. After decades of work for individuals, businesses, and governments, my life took a new turn in 1996, when I stumbled upon the gravestone of a Jane Doe––a murder victim from 1954. A few years later, I applied my research skills to both old-fashioned detective work and the power of the internet by entering into a partnership with my local sheriff and with forensic experts of the Vidocq Society to successfully determine the young woman’s identity. I chronicled our work in "Someone’s Daughter: In Search of Justice for Jane Doe."
In 2008, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office gave me a Sheriff’s Commendation Award for doing the “lion’s share of the research” on the Jane Doe case. Two years later, the Vidocq Society presented me with its Medal of Honor.
While continuing to volunteer for the Sheriff’s Office, I'm now an associate member of the Vidocq Society, a volunteer in the Detectives Section of the Boulder Police Department, a NamUs Academy graduate, and a NamUs instructor in classes sponsored by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation–– working with colleagues all over the country. I wrote "Cold Case Research: Resources for Unidentified, Missing, and Cold Homicide Cases" in order to aid other investigators as they grapple with cold cases of their own.
