Sarah Harding-Roberts (EvilDictator) | 1 comments I'm Sarah, and honestly I'm very lost and looking for help. I am the author of an ebook and I have been attempting to find out exactly how I get it on GoodReads. There seems to be a lot of information on the Author Program page, however not much on how to get it up without already being a librarian or an author with an existing author page.

If there is anyone who can help me that would be great, as I'd love to get my ebook up here (it's called 'Scourge', by the way, and it is currently published on Kindle and Smashwords!)

Michael Charney (michael_charney) | 6 comments Hello, everyone:
I'm Michael Charney, author of "Chasing Glenn Beck: A Personal Experiment in Reclaiming Our Hijacked Political Conversation," published by Riddle Brook Publishing. I'm a political junkie, but also find time to read a bit of everything, from Balzac to Eggers, from Austen to Foster Wallace.

In my "other" life I'm a management/HR consultant specializing in team building, and am currently working on a business book as well.

Glad to be hear; for anyone with political interests, particularly if you're upset with the way political marketing has taken over, I invite you to visit my blog at www.chasingglennbeck.com and leave some comments.

Welcome Sarah,

You have to set up an authors page and the rest will fall into place.

Best of luck!

Shourie Bannai (prosaicorator) | 1 comments Hello. My name is Shourie Bannai and I am not as illustrious as some people here are. As a matter of fact, I guess I am illustrious at doing nothing. Well anyways, I am generally occupied with doing nothing and so to do nothing I try and pretend to read books, somehow even after epic travails of trying not to, I don't succeed. Anyways like every other bum on the planet, I am so full of myself and can go on and on about me. But then as I like doing nothing I am sparing myself the trouble of having to type absurd trash. And in the greater interest of all the people who have been magnanimous to post above me who I know are compulsive addicts of reading, and have probably spent some precious moments of their worthy life reading trash, I shall say, it is a great pleasure to be here and hope to read great work of writers first hand.

P.S. If you people think so, I haven't reached the level of such gloomy self-pity, not as yet.

Marie Ventris (marieventris) | 7 comments Greetings! My name is Marie Frances, and I'm a little new to Goodreads... there are so many readers, in so many established groups! As a shy girl, it's a little intimidating! But I suppose the best course of action is to jump in and hope for the best.
I wrote Nighthawk by Marie Frances - my debut novel - which is a supernatural mystery and the first in a series. It incorporates a lot of folklore from around the world, so I can't exactly categorize it solely as "vampire" or "werewolf", etc.
Anyway, I'll do my best to become active on here in spite of my social awkwardness! I'm excited to connect with fellow readers and writers!

Vannetta Chapman (vannettachapman) | 12 comments My name is Vannetta and I write fiction full of grace. When I tell folks I write Amish murder mysteries, I get the second glance, but I have always enjoyed reading grittier fiction (Stephen King rules). I also write Amish romances and Amish novellas. My personal connection to the Plain folk is that my grandfather grew up in Albion, PA. Myself? I'm a Texas gal through and through.

message 2467: by Erin (new)

Erin Howard (erinleighh) | 3 comments Hello, my name is Erin and I'm a reader and a writer. Although I doubt I'll ever publish anything, I always have a fic or two keeping my writing and creative skills up. It's been a long time since I've read, but I've recently discovered how much joy I can get from books. I have been reading book after book and haven't looked back!

My favorite genres are young adult and historical fiction, but I enjoy all types of interesting reads. My current obsession is dystopian fics, and I can't get enough of them.

Being a writer and a reader, I know how hard it can be to share your pride and joy to the public, which is why I like to give constructive and positive reviews over Negative Nancy criticism that only helps to thicken skin and dampen the muses.

Jon Osborne | 1 comments Hi everyone,

My name is Jon Osborne and I'm looking to make some friends on Goodreads to interact with about writing and reading crime fiction. I'm new (just joined yesterday) and looking forward to making some new pals online. In addition to being an avid reader of crime fiction, I had my first novel, KILL ME ONCE, published by Random House UK last year, and my second one is due out in September, so if anyone likes to write as well as read, I'd be happy to engage with you and answer any questions you might have about the publishing process. I'm jumping in with both feet here (also started a blog - first post today) and can't wait to get going, so let's be friends!

Jon

Steve Shilstone Hi, I'm Steve Shilstone, goodreads author with a children's fantasy ebook series from http://www.wildchildpublishing.com. Available at all the usual places, the first 4 of 9 are: Bekka of Thorns, The Carven Flute, Rakara, and The Woodlock. Also just sold my Northern California in the '70s hippie commune novel to a small press, but it's so far out there in the future it's not worth spouting about yet. Nevertheless, yay.

message 2471: by Patty (new)

Patty Apostolides | 6 comments Hi everyone,

My name is Patty Apostolides. I began writing when my son was a baby eleven years ago, and since then, I've written/published three novels (Lipsi's Daughter, The Lion and the Nurse, The Greek Maiden and the English Lord), and a poetry book titled Candlelit Journey: Poetry from the Heart.

I never knew I could write, but the opportunity presented itself when I left my career as a biologist and became a stay-at-home mother. With time on my hands, I began to twiddle my thumbs and ask myself between yawns, is there anything else besides diapers and bottles and burping sessions? YES! I wrote during my son's naps and enjoyed every minute of it.

More information about me and my books can be found on my website:
www.pattyapostolides.com

Take care,
Patty

message 2479: by Charles (new)

Charles Cornell (charlesacornell) | 14 comments Hello, everyone! My name is Charles A Cornell and my debut thriller, Tiger Paw, is now available in ebook and paperback formats.

In Tiger Paw, FBI profiler Scott Forrester hunts an assassin belonging to a demonic East Indian cult that is wreaking havoc on Wall Street, murdering corrupt CEO's at the center of a billionaire's stock scam. Firmly in the assassin’s crosshairs, Scott Forrester is forced underground to stop the killing spree. But will he survive the deal he must make with the Devil to thwart the cult’s plans?.

My website www.CharlesCornell.com has several 'Inside Tiger Paw' features, so you can check to see what Tiger Paw is all about. You will find two 'flipbooks'... a photoessay on the 'Murder, Mystery & Mayhem' inside Tiger Paw and one on the 'Deities, Demons & Legends' from Hindu culture, a unique element that sets Tiger Paw apart within its genre.

I was born in England, raised in Canada and now divide my time between Michigan and Florida. I plan to be online at GoodReads a lot this weekend. Please post, friend or message me and let me know if you want me to set up a separate Author Q&A group. Looking forward to connecting with readers here on GoodReads.

message 2481: by Tom (new)

Tom Paine (goodreadscomtom_paine) | 8 comments Greetings. My name -- well, my pen name -- is Tom Paine. I've just published my third novel, America Rising, on Amazon.

It's the story of Americans coming together to take back their country from the financial and political elites that have run it off the rails. Many are part of a movement that anticipated the Occupy and Move Your Money campaigns, others are members of a shadowy group utilizing what Liam Neeson's character in "Taken" termed "a very particular set of skills."

It is not a screed. It's the story of Americans of all stripes doing their best to ensure, in the truly revolutionary words of Abraham Lincoln, that "government of the people, by the people and for the people will not perish from the earth."

Red, blue or purple, I look forward to connecting with all of you as both authors and readers.

Tristan Berry (tristanberry) | 1 comments I'm Tristan Berry. I've been writing for about 5 years. I've spent most of that time learning how and what not to write. *LOL* I've finally settled on a fantasy trilogy as the project I want to complete first and try to market. I also have an epic alternative history series in mind that I am very passionate about, but need to build up my skill set first before tackling a project with such scope. I'm new to Goodreads and very glad to meet everyone.

I'm from the UK - I read and write crime fiction. Favourite mystery authors include: Kate Atkinson, Mark Billingham, Ann Cleeves, Lee Child, Dennis Lehane, Michael Connelly and Sophie Hannah. Any fans of British police procedurals out there?

I'm on my third draft of a novel set in NYC at the moment - does anyone have suggestions for great mysteries set in the Big Apple? Contemporary setting preferably.

Good to meet you!
