Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hi everyone! I'm Kristi (aka Books N Beans). First thank you for the invitation to the group. I joined a little while back, though I can't remember exactly when so it's probably longer than I think. Time seems to have a way of flying by, doesn't it? I've been lurking a bit, getting a feel for the group, and I have to say I really like what you've done here.
But this is an introduction page, so here goes...
I am an avid reader, and I love all genres, okay almost all genres. I'm sure there's one or two out there that I'd rather not read, but I'm not sure I've come across them yet. ;)
I am a military spouse with 3 kids. I have an absolute fascination with people which I think lends itself to my reading addiction. I love "hearing" people's stories.
I do have a book blog, if you're interested in checking it out. http://mybooksnbeans.blogspot.com
And Books N Beans is on Facebook now. That's a very recent addition (a couple of days) so don't expect much.
I'm thrilled to be here with all of you, and helping in my own little way to promote the authors in the group. I'm pretty much full on reviews on my blog, but I'd be happy to do guest blog spots and/or book news posts for new releases anyone has coming out. And I can add that information to the BNB FB page too.
Again, thanks for inviting me!
Hi all,Just discovered goodreads (yes, I live in a cave) and LOVE it! My background is in academic research and writing, mostly the sort of thing that is a sure cure for insomnia, but have become increasingly interested in children's fiction as my son has been working his way through the library shelves.
What's a parent to do? Well, write a book, of course. My recently published debut, The Absolutely Amazing Adventures of Auggie Spinoza is an adventurous trip through history appropriate for kids in the 8-12 age range. Yes, there are spies and action and a few funny lines, but there is also a solid dose of history and a few valuable lessons.
Please check it out and let me know what you think.
Best, Steven
Thanks Kristi, let me know what you think. Just took a quick look at BNB and will take a closer look this evening. Looks great!

Hi, I am an author of four published books and just joined this group. I am a retired lawyer who re-invented himself as an author at the age of 66. Besides writing and reading, my passions are travel, food and wine. I live in Ventura, California near my four children and four (soon to be five) grandchildren. Last Spring I returned from living in Paris for a year and wrote a book about my adventures.Boyd Lemon-Author of “Eat, Walk, Write: An American Senior’s Year of Adventure in Paris and Tuscany,” and "Digging Deep: A Writer Uncovers His Marriages," the author’s journey to understand his role in the destruction of his three marriages. Laurie, how fascinating! I know that sounds twisted, but I'm one of those that's obsessed with crime, the criminal, and especially the criminal mind. Probably why I ended up with a degree in criminology.
What an experience to have had.
Laurie, that is really exciting! My memoir got to #3 in memoirs when it was on Kindle's Giveaway.Boyd Lemon-Author of “Eat, Walk, Write: An American Senior’s Year of Adventure in Paris and Tuscany,” and "Digging Deep: A Writer Uncovers His Marriages," the author’s journey to understand his role in the destruction of his three marriages. Thought I would reintroduce myself to all the newcomers! :) My name is Lana Bradstream. I am the author of ETHEREAL INFLUENCE: THE BIRTH. I am currently writing two books -- the second in the series and a horror. It is wonderful to see all the comments on the post. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Laurie wrote: "Boyd...Both of your books sound fascinating. Especially the Paris/Tuscany one. I lived in Italy for a year and I want to do the same in Paris. Where can I find your books?Laurie"
It was a wonderful adventure. I miss Paris a lot. This is the quickest link to all of my books. http://amzn.to/yq7O9L
I'm Antony, new to this site and new to this group. I've written stories for many years, and been lucky enough to have some published in magazines and books, but I've only just recently opened my eyes to self-publishing ebooks. I've got a few supernatural stories on the Feebooks website which seem to be doing well, and I'm hoping to take this further :-)

Hi, I'm Heather. I love reading, any and everything! I do write, mostly short stories and poetry, but I'm pretty shy about letting others read it.

Welcome Peggy! I hope I reach nine books, I'm on my third and working on getting the second released. Since you said you liked Espionage, check out my book
Thanks!
Thanks, honey. I just added you to my reading list. I wish more people would bring their books to my attention. I read at least five books a week, I slowed down after I started writing. I'm always looking for more fresh new authors, especially $0.99 ones.
Thanks so much, honey. I love finding all of these without having to do all the work of searching. I just looked at them and they look interesting so I'll add them to my reading list. Any particular i should read them?

Hello to all the newcomers. I've only been in here a few days myself. Trying to keep my head down until I get comfortable, but just wanted to say: what a great community. Looking forward to many fulfilling exchanges.
Yes, I really believe that if we each read as much as we can of each others books and give as many positive reviews as we can, we can get ahead of the majors, ha ha.
Hello everyone & thanks for the welcome! So nice to be among like-minded people with a taste for mystery and suspense :)

Hey Spencer!
Lovely to meet you. So, how did I get into espionage? I actually have no clue :) I started writing this story with an amnesiac heroine and little by little, the plot took a suspense twist with an espionage slant.
And this has been the basis for my 3-book series (Book 1 is out, Book 2 will be coming out in a few months, Book 3's in the writing). The series' title is Corpus Brides, and each book revolves around the life, love, and missions of an elite female spy from the Corpus agency (a fictional agency I devised for the purposes of my plot). The books take place all over Europe - for example, Book 1, Walking The Edge, hops from London to Marseille, while Book 2 takes place in London & Hastings, Prague, Las Vegas, and the French Provence.
Okay, I think I better stop yakking about the series now :) Tell me about yours

Can I interest you into checking out my book?
If you like edgy fiction with a dose of romance, this might just be right up your alley :)(and it's up at the steal price of $1.99 at the Noble Romance website *grin*)
Are you on nook and do you have any for 99 cents?
Ok my name's Nicola. I love writing. Unfortunately I hardly ever get anything done. I did however complete a book of poetry called A Story not Wished to be Read on Smashwords! And I'm working on two books and an album. I also have a blog, generalhavoc.wordpress.com, so if you want to get a sample of my writing there's plenty there. There's also the first chapter of one of my works in progress, A Spy of Kings.

I am an author and lecturer at University of Arizona. After publishing two fiction anthologies, I recently completed my debut novel tentatively titled Pretending to be Jacqueline Kupper, which is not yet out, and I am now working on two books: A Corner Table at the Lamb’s Club and Eight Weeks to Live: A Road Trip. Prior to moving to Tucson, I was a Senior lecturer at Suffolk University in Boston. I, along with my husband and daughter enjoy our winters in Tucson and our summers elsewhere.
I am an author and educator working in Kansas. I recently published my first novel, ATLAS (available here: http://www.amazon.com/Atlas-A-Novel-e...).I've had a few short stories published around the internet and wrote a few plays in college that garnered me some nominations through the Kennedy Center.
I'm the author of Undermountain, a YA science fiction novel in which bigfoot is a member of a technically advanced civilization living deep under the Canadian Rocky mountains!
One notable thing about my writing is that I dictate the first draft of my prose and have it transcribed.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0075F8S70 I am having a terrible time adding my Kindle book to this site. The link is above, its called Windswept-War of the Elements.

Hello! I'm Suzan and new too. ;o) I write historical romance. I published "Laiden's Daughter" to KDP in December so I'm still relatively new to all of this self publishing business!
I'm a voracious reader as well.
I do look forward to making some friends here! ;o)

I write, so far, Memoir style biography true stories, because the stories I have in me to tell are more fascinating than fiction, to me. :)
I don't know if I am supposed to put this here, but here are the links to the 2 books I have published if anyone wants to go see what I write.
