Shushindren Jayasingham | 2 comments My name is Shushindren, and my story proves that setbacks and challenges can awaken hidden faith and true self within us. Close ones call me Shushin. I was born in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, but grew up in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Today, I live in Singapore, working as an Aviator professional and running my successful logistics network as a businessman. My hobbies include football, badminton, athletics, and travelling, allowing me to explore different cultures and lifestyles.

Everyone deserves love and respect, and I write a story to remind those who have lost faith in true love that it still exists. I care for everyone who needs to be in a circle of love, and I am here to remind you that no matter where you are in the world, you are not alone. Follow my journey on my blog, website, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Let's inspire each other to reach our inner selves. Paul Backalenick | 9 comments Hi everyone. I'm Paul Backalenick, author of The Twisted Roads Series. The series currently includes three books that are presented in Goodreads. My novels focus on a group of friends and lovers who travel twisted roads through life, making both good and bad choices along the way. Some dream of the "Big Score." Others take chances on love. They embark on risky adventures with uncertain outcomes and face challenges both within themselves and from without. I'm lucky to have gotten great reviews from readers and Kirkus. I hope you will take a look at my website: PaulBackalenick.com. Thank you.

Dear Shushindren,

Welcome to Goodreads! Your story really spoke to me. Different countries, cultures, careers and hobbies- all within a couple of decades of human life. Its not easy for us, modern humans, is it? But I agree- one can choose to treat every challenge as a gift, for it gives us strength to open many new doors, and most of them are wonderful.. just as long as you stay tuned in to LOVE.

Luminescence Goh (luminescencegoh) | 22 comments Hello everyone,

My name is Luminescence Goh. I am the author of the bilingual novel Chronicles of the Enchanted Vanguard: Seraphina and the Divine Mandate. This work integrates critical environmental issues into a compelling narrative, educating and entertaining readers simultaneously. My approach heightens awareness of ecological challenges and motivates readers to take action. The positive feedback and testimonials underscore the impact of using storytelling for social change.

While writing this book, one of the most significant challenges I faced was battling self-doubt and the fear of not meeting my high standards. Overcoming this involved a substantial shift in mindset; I learned to accept the imperfections in initial drafts and recognized writing as a process of continuous refinement. Seeking feedback from trusted peers and mentors was invaluable, as it helped me gain perspective and enhance my work. Embracing imperfection as a natural part of the creative process enabled me to complete my book confidently.

This journey highlights our dedication to excellence in storytelling and design, aiming to enrich the reader's experience. I am deeply thankful for my work's recognition and am thrilled to share this creative vision with a broader audience.

Please visit me to discover more about the five-star reviews and awards my book has received on my Goodreads profile. You won’t be disappointed!

Blue Leprechaun | 2 comments I go by Blue Leprechaun, I'm what one would call an anxiety riddled introvert so forgive my lack of socializing skill.

I am an avid reader. Usually reading multiple books at once while also listening to multiple audio books at once. (Audiobooks for working hours). I'm dyslexic so I don't count audiobooks as cheating.

I also write, with a push from my husband I've become a new author. Which I'm still figuring out, I love the writing the marketing or pushing my book on people I don't love so much.

I'm happy to be in this group it seems full of wonderful people to be around.

Tiki Black | 9 comments Hello! I'm Tiki Black, author and advocate for the Arts.

My passion lies in crafting stories and poems that weave together magic realism with the evocative power of sound. I've donned the hat of a ghostwriter for several published books, but my own literary voice can be found in a poetry and lyrics collection under the name Tiki Black, and a linguistics theory book published under my birth name.

As an avid reader, I devour a wide range of genres, from the whimsical worlds of children's literature to the thought-provoking depths of philosophical novels. Poetry, mysteries, and the occasional YA adventure also find a place on my bookshelf. Ultimately, a captivating first paragraph is all it takes for me to get swept away by a story.

Beyond writing, I actively contribute to the artistic landscape. I serve as a beta-reader, book reviewer, and editor, along with writing for magazines and blogs in both the UK and US. My driving force? A passion for promoting excellence across all artistic mediums/a, encompassing literature, theatre, ballet, and music.

I'm incredibly inspired by Beat poets like Allen Ginsberg and the transgressive fiction of authors like Charles Bukowski, but my first love is music. The surreal, painterly lyricism of Tom Waits, David Bowie, and Bob Dylan influenced the dynamic flow of my first novel, First Date, a young adult anthology about the melodramatic trials and teen-sensation tribulations of high school relationships. I'd love to hear any feedback and look forward to reviewing YOUR works as well!

Best of luck to all of you on your search for more readers and congrats on completing the books you've done. Completion is success! For anyone into baseball and romance, I have written a novel titled 1842. It's about two baseball players growing up in OKC, playing ball and going through their own issues. Jesus can be found as an underlying theme, but the story is not without reality. Some language and sexual situations throughout. I set the age for 14+, so it has a very versatile range. Hope it fits someone's palate out there! Peace and love -Koby L. Bowie

message 21777: by Eric (new)

Eric Piotrowski | 1 comments Halosche, everybody. I'm a HS English teacher and author in Wisconsin USA. I've published six books so far, and my seventh is coming out in the fall.

I started writing my first novel when I was 12 years old. It became a fantasy/SF trilogy I finished in college, but it needs a lot of work before it's ready for human consumption.

In the meantime, I published a book of stories in 2013, mostly by accident. I wanted to see what the Amazon KDP platform was all about (at that time it was known as CreateSpace).. When I set up an account, I was asked what my project was called. Well.. I didn't have a project. Then I started thinking about some stories I had written over the years, and ideas for others I could add. Before I knew it, I had spent the summer (my only time for such matters) composing, revising, and designing the book. I was — and am — proud of the results, and the collection was well-received by family and friends. (They even sent photos of themselves with the book. How kind! Alas, I cannot link to that page of photos here.)

I followed this up with several other books, about various topics: The power of mindfulness (and a sequel).. political essays.. How to be a great educator.. and, most recently, a SF space adventure called Delivery to Nimbus X . (I'm writing the sequel to that one now.)

My new book is called Brains: How to Survive Apocalyptic Bibliophilia. It's about a woman named Nasha who is trying to build a library during the zombie apocalypse. She meets a young traveler named Dan, who swings a heck of a baseball bat, and is searching for some answers about a painful incident in the past. They have to figure out how to work with each other and how much they're willing to risk in order to understand death — and life. (No GR page for that one yet. The global distribution arrangement is in process.)

I switched from Amazon to Lulu with Nimbus X, because I dislike Mr. Bezos' monopoly power and how he treats his workers. (I refuse to promote myself on X for the same reason; I cannot stand Monsieur Musk.) This may limit my capacity to reach a bigger audience (and obviously my work is still available through Amazon), but it's important to me to release my books in a way that makes me feel good about the process.

I've tried for many years to get published by the Official Gatekeepers of Culture. I haven't gotten many results, and honestly I'd rather be working on my next project then spend all my time begging agents and reps for their attention. So here I am, eager to network with readers and other writers. Holler if you hear me.

Akshay (onehappymonk) | 8 comments Namaste and greetings from India!

Been a lover of stories and avid reader since I was in single-digits age-wise.
I love books of all shapes, sizes and kinds - sci-fi and spec-fic being particular favourites (broadly speaking).

Tried becoming an author but while I couldn't get traction with publishers for my prose, the world of comics opened a door and I've been writing them as best I can for about a decade now.

Got several modest projects under my belt now and a few pokers in the fire for the remainder of this year and the new year ahead.

Nice to meet you all.
Cheers!

Pierre Coignard | 1 comments Vincent wrote: "Please introduce yourself! Do you write books? Do you just enjoy reading them?

Bonjour Vincent,

Jacques Coulardeau (drjacquescoulardeau) | 1 comments Author's biographical note
Dr. Jacques COULARDEAU has had experience in several directions. He began performing on stage around 1972 and joined the SACD in 1976. From the poetic and theatrical stage, he moved to the radio with Radio Quinquin in 1979 and half a dozen other radio stations until 2004, including the most recent Radio Craponne and Radio Chrétienne de France (RCF) Clermont-Ferrand. He has an actor's retirement at CARSAT and a retirement contribution for more than twenty years of professional life as a radio author at SCAM. His critical approach to live performance, music, and opera, including theater and puppets, kept him busy on the radio and in the press. On the theater alone, he has published more than 50 articles, most of them in Avignon.
In another direction, he published numerous books which can be found at the National Library in Paris. Since 2012 he has almost only published virtual books and various blogs. He has more than 32 titles published as ebooks on Kindle. He is also a professional content writer at Medium.com. The English language seems to be more important than French. I recommend his book Jacques COULARDEAU, Shakespearean Addiction, English Edition, February 16, 2020, at Kindle, ASIN: B084V3XMN6 at Amazon.
His most important scientific research remains linguistics, in particular historical linguistics, which we today call the phylogeny of language. He published two fundamental works in this perspective which he discovered and deepened with Jacques Teyssier who left more quickly than expected in August 1973. Jacques COULARDEAU and Ivan EVE, Cro-Magnon's Language: Emergence of Homo Sapiens, Invention of Articulated Language, Migrations out of Africa, English Edition, ASIN: B074DXJM5C, July 31, 2017, and Jacques COULARDEAU, Paleolithic Women, For Gendered Linguistic Analysis: Alexander Marshack – The Roots Of Civilization – Revised And Augmented Edition – 1991 – A Review, English Edition, ASIN: B083P5XT6R, January 9, 2020.
He publishes regularly in the USA, China, India, Romania, France, and sometimes in Great Britain. He is regularly called upon in the sociology and psychology of education and language acquisition, this very day in Japan. Between two articles he tries to work on an opera, a video, and a film, and from time to time he develops a personal critical relationship with an artist or an author, but he only quotes Shakespeare to remain non-controversial, intimacy thus remaining virtual. His second favorite author would be Stephen King. He is trying to catch up in Chinese literature and theater. His Asian and Buddhist orientation dates back to his long stay in Sri Lanka in 2005 and his friendship with his assistant at the Sorbonne, Ivan Eve, who returned from Laos and Vietnam at age 18 in 2009.

After everything I've been through, I kept having doctors and nurses tell me that I had to share my story with everyone. So I wrote a book about my life. It turns that a great many of the few that have read the book have thought highly of it. So I've just been on a mission to spread that story of hope. Seeing where life takes me.

Cori Nevruz (corinevruz) | 1 comments Hey Readers (and writers) I’m a suspense and thriller author and my latest thriller, Noxious comes out this Tuesday 8/6!!! I can’t wait to hear what you think!!
Teaser below!

Finally free of her mother's controlling ways, Natalia, a quirky misfit with a penchant for the unexpected, heads to New York City after learning her family's darkest secret—Daniel, a stepbrother she never knew existed. Desperate for acceptance and love, Natalia becomes the person Daniel expects, hiding her true self behind a carefully crafted facade.
By day, she works for Stuart, a powerful and eccentric corporate executive, eliminating costly retired pension recipients with ruthless efficiency. To assuage her lingering conscience, Natalia justifies her actions by targeting those with irritating habits. Each hit is meticulously staged to appear as natural causes, earning her both a handsome pay and a sinister sense of accomplishment.
As Natalia spends more time with Stuart, his enigmatic wife, and a blossoming new love interest, the innocent front she maintains for Daniel begins to crumble. Her true nature starts to seep through, and Daniel's growing suspicion threatens to unravel her carefully woven lies.
Caught between the life Daniel envisions for her and the thrilling, dangerous existence she thrives in, Natalia must make a choice: conform to her stepbrother's expectations or fully embrace her dark, unapologetic identity.Noxious is a gripping tale of deception, identity, and the perilous balance between love and truth.

My name is Mel Foster. I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age. Because of the difficulties associated with that, I found solace in writing. And at only seventeen, I submitted my first manuscript to a publisher. Receiving positive encouragement to keep writing, I decided to work diligently toward my dream of becoming a published writer.
My debut novel, Falling From Grace is my first published work, but I am already a prolific writer having written twenty novels by age twenty-three.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Peter Coomber | 4 comments Hi. I've either typed this in the correct box, or someone is going to be confused about an answer to their comment.

I have previously introduced myself some years ago: '...103 years old; mannerisms and looks like the famous film star Elmer Fudd; etc..'. Today I am just interested in interesting people about my short story collection, Tall Short Stories - not as reading matter, but because it has a shiny new front cover.

For people who like to look at shiny new front covers, then this is the book for you. You can find it on the Rakuten Kobo website (I know, mentioning 'Kobo' on an Amazon owned website - it's not the done thing). But there it is: all gleaming, shiny and new...

...just waiting for you to stare at it and say, "ahhh!"

Scott Feldmann (scott-feldmann) | 0 comments Hello. I'm Scott from Skaneateles. I'm sixty-four. I struggle with, commas. I've co-authored and illustrated a YA non-fiction historical bio and posted it on Goodreads. It's self-published. My singer-songwriter partner Brad Colerick and I formed the animation firm Deep Magic Song & Drawing Co. so we could make music videos for indie artists, often in a genre we call "animontage", best imagined as Ken Burns meets Harold & the Purple Crayon. As a non-singing, sole animator I needed a device to stretch time efficiently without destroying the storytelling impact. Recently we took one film, (currently hidden from view as it travels the film festival circuit), and adapted it as a book - it's on Goodreads now, though it launches on September 27, 2024. I look forward to meeting readers, other authors and illustrators around the water cooler here, regardless of how they pronounce my town-of-origin.

Edward Flaherty (flahertylandscape) | 10 comments Landscape Libretti by Edward Flaherty

Hi, my name is Edward.

I'm an American who has spent too much time, decades, in the sun and sands of North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.

I am trapped in fiction that is not fiction. Good stories about strange places best experienced from the comfort of your armchair.
