Julian (julianporter) | 1 comments Hello. Been about for som time, but now I have reason to introduce myself to this group.

I read books by the ton, and I and my wife own about 6000 of the things. I also write, and have finally got round to publishing my first piece: a short called 'Lost Girl of Krypton' about a very disturbed young woman who seems to believe she is a superhero, and might well be. Or not. I can't describe myself better than I did on my Amazon page, so here we go:

Susan Anderson (susanrussoanderson) | 5 comments Hello All,

My name is Susan Russo Anderson and I just published my first ebook.

It's a classic mystery story with an improbable heroine. Well, she's improbable for the time—a female sleuth in Sicily in the 19th century.

The title is Death of a Serpent, and it's available on Amazon.

Here's a blurb and summary:
When the police do nothing to solve the murders of three prostitutes knifed to death in 1866 Sicily, a struggling widow unmasks the killer, but not before uncovering burdensome truths of her own.

It is six years after Unification and Sicily is in chaos. Bandits rule the hills. Waves of cholera kill thousands. The mafia begins its reign of organized terror, raping a population squeezed by conscription, crippling taxes, and corrupt officials.

At a high-class house near Palermo, three prostitutes have been knifed to death, their foreheads slashed with a strange mark, their bodies dumped on the madam’s doorstep. When the chief inspector does little to solve the case, the madam summons her lifelong friend and asks her to catch the killer.

A forty-something midwife with seven children and diminishing funds, Serafina decides she must help her friend. She plunges into the investigation, gathering evidence, following leads. She meets with relatives and friends of the deceased and discovers a thread common to all three victims.

But when a fourth victim is strangled, Serafina’s hopes for a quick resolution are dashed. Her emotional low is short-lived, however. In a defiant meeting with the don, she makes an important discovery. Convinced of the murderer’s identity, she conceives a daring plan and, with the help of her daughter, unmasks the killer.

You can read more about the book on my website at http://susanrussoanderson.com

Thanks,

Susan

Ian Ellis | 2 comments Hi. My name is Ian Ellis, and I am the author of 'Have a Nice Weekend', which is published by Night Publishing.

I read more than I write, though. Currently I am concentrating on historical fiction - Bernard Cornwell and CJ Sansom, but I read many genres. I have set myself a target of 50 books this year. So far I'm on my third, so roughly on target.

Bergs (smileeeey247) My name is Brigit Rohrbaugh. I am an English major with a writing studies option. I have a huge love for books as well as writing. Right now I am more of a free verse poem writing, but like to read a wide variety of books. The only topics I usually shy away from are historical fiction, historical, and science fiction (though I do love stories written with a steampunk feel and flying ships).

Good evening, folks.
My name is Mingo Kane and I was born and raised in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. After high school I entered the United States Army and served with Bravo Company 1st/75th (Airborne) Rangers. I have since enjoyed a host of different and often unique occupations: Bouncer, Private Security Specialist and now a full time writer.
When I am not writing I can be found hunting and trapping the mountains near my cabin or on one of the many waterways fly fishing.
My first novel, “Scars of the Prophet” is featured on Goodreads and was published by Diversion Books. It has been a long road to get to this point.

Rachel Abbott (rachel_abbott) | 68 comments Hi Steph and Sharyn

Love the idea of Steph being a reluctant civil servant. I spent my working life dealing with civil servants in Westminster - so I have sympathy. Now I am free!! Living in Italy and doing my own thing (but I do recognise that I am lucky).

I too am new to this, but I'm hoping that my book Only the Innocent will be of interest to a few people - because I think Goodreads is where we find the REAL readers.

Lanie Jordan (lanie_jordan) Hi everyone!

I'm Lanie. I love reading reading and writing, obviously. Paranormal, urban fantasy, and fantasy stories are the genres I enjoy most, but I only write YA.

A little about me... I'm a cat lover, a terrible blogger, a huge computer nerd, and a lover of gadgets (including my beloved iPad). I have an awkward sense of humor and can be pretty weird. But I'm nice, really! :D

I love reading, and it influences my writing tremendously. I have the first book in The Impenetrable Spy out, but I am writing a middle grade Christmas Elf-Spy book with another author, and editing and writing a few other novels. I look forward to discussing books and writing with everyone in the group, as I did awhile ago.

Charles Day | 3 comments I'm a newbie here, but I joined because this group not only sounds cool, but it full of many of my writer friends. I guess I'll post my bio for those who don't know me, or wonder why I have an evil little jester for a muse, alter ego and best friend.

Charles Day A.K.A, the evil little Jester, is an HWA affiliate member and the Mentor Program Committee Chairperson, and a full member of the New England Horror Writers Association. He's published 14 short stories with various small press publishers, including his novella LOCKDOWN (Wicked East Press, 2011). His biggest success to date is the sale of his first horror novel, DEEP WITHIN (Twisted Library Press, Spring 2012), his first YA horror novel, LEGEND OF THE PUMPKIN THIEF (Noble Publishers, Now Available) and a mystery novella DEADLY WORKOUT(Dopamavoli Books, Spring 2012). His mystery novelette THE PLAN, A Mystery is now available from Naked Snake Press

He has also edited his first anthology TALES OF TERROR & MAYHEM FROM DEEP WITHIN THE BOX (Wicked East Press, Winter 2012) compiled with 24 amazingly terrifying stories be some real talented authors. Includes the debut, never before told story of just how the evil jester became so damn evil in The Gift, By Charles Day, edited by Hollie Snider.

He is also the founder/owner of Hidden Thoughts Press- Non fiction works where the primary focus is mental wellness collections- and Evil Jester Press, a fiction imprint.
He firmly believes that after walking the dingy halls of a psychiatric ward as an employee for 12 years, many of the characters that speak to him daily in his head are those he may have watched over, anxious to share their stories through the written word. You can find out more at charlesdayfictionwriter.blogspot.com. Welcome to his twisted world.

www.nuclearromance.wordpress.com

In Nuclear Romance, a debut novel by New York journalist and writer Abby Luby, the tragic death of a 7-year old girl after swimming at a beach across from a nuclear power plant, sets off a chain of events that involve a sports journalist, an anti-nuclear activist, a grieving mother and her son. A young woman reporter falls prey to a callous plant executive whose job depends on keeping the multi-billion dollar nuclear company viable. Set in the Northeast, unraveling the cause of the girl’s death coincides with growing anti-nuclear sentiment which escalates after highly radioactive steam escapes from the plant, forcing a mass evacuation.

Susan I'm Susan Beth Miller. I am a Clinical Psychologist in Michigan but have been writing for longer than I've been a psychologist. I've published one novel,Indigo Rose (BantamDell) and am hoping to publish another I've completed. The theme is various forms of fundamentalism and the interplay between fundamentalist thinking and human problems. I'm also looking for a publisher for a novel for middle school kids.

I just published When Parents Have Problems: A Book for Teens and Older Children Who Have a Disturbed or Difficult Parent, 2nd Edition|13423421]. The book is for teens and older kids who have a disturbed or troubled parent. I have a GIVEAWAY going for this book.

Other books I've published are psychology books written for sophisticated lay readers or psychologists. They are Disgust: The Gatekeeper Emotion|1269404]; Shame in Context|480163], and The Shame Experience|480159]. I understand that disgust has been getting a lot of attention in the media lately, so I guess I was ahead of the curve on that one.
