Victoria-Melita Zammit (viiemzee) Hi, my name is Victoria Zammit. I'm a Maltese national who was raised in Malta and has lived in the UK for almost 5 years. I'm an interpreter by training, but became a librarian when that didn't work out and am now a secondary school libarian in the UK. I absolutely love my job because I'm a massive reader as well as an aspiring writer.

I love writing and reading fantasy, playing board games and video games, and let a lot of my creativity out through playing D&D weekly because when I can't write, it helps me to still have some kind of creative outlet.

I like to focus on queer relationships in the stuff I write because I am myself a queer woman. I feel I want to fill the gap of representation that I never really saw growing up in my fiction.

I'd like my books to be read by more people, but not hoping to become famous or anything. Just would really like more people to tell me what they think so I can improve!

message 21404: by Michael (new)

Michael Parker (michaelparker) | 99 comments Hallo, Victoria. An interesting take on what you are like, but the word 'Queer' is an old fashioned term for 'Gay'. So if you are not Gay, then avoid the word and find something that helps others understand what kind of person you are. Good luck with your career by the way.

Frank Brown | 2 comments Hi There.....I am a brand new author....still in Chapter 1. Looking to find a Critique partner or a group of authors for exchange. My book is in the business realm. Not dry boring business, but business with a personality. Have never written a book before but have been told many times i should. Now that i am near retiring, I have decided to take the plunge. Will need eventual assistance in making the publishing decision. Thanks for reading!

Donna Comeaux (donnabcomeaux) | 105 comments Hello, colleagues.

CRITIQUE NEEDED

I have a 10-page first chapter that I need someone to read and critique for me. I need to know what's missing, what's not working, what haven't I covered that a reader would need to know in this new family saga. Consider this literary fiction, and remember the prose of this genre can be longwinded at times.

I need you to make suggestions and corrections within the text. In a different font color other than black.

Please let me know if you have time to read this and provide a quick turnaround.

Thanks.

Stephan Ward | 1 comments I have just joined the group. I have two books published of a five book series "The Anatomy of Dragons." The book titles are "Stirrings" - Book 1, and just released is "Dragon Talk", the second book. The other books are in the works. See:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

The genre might be science fiction, but it intermingles historical facts with myth, love and greed, politics and power, all in the unique ways of two species: humans and powerful but largely pacific alien beings in the form of Dragons. It's a complex world full of characters on both sides of the fence - and the strange familial intermingling of the two at a time when science and technology begins to shift the power balance.

Feedback has been very positive, and am just starting to market the series now. Be the first to read and rate on Goodreads! Would love to have feedback and hear from other authors and readers.

Greetings All,
I am Colin Rigby and first saw the light of day in a small town in Staffordshire. I would have liked to be able to report that there were signs and portents globally to herald this great event but sadly I have not been able to trace any records to this effect, and it seems that my arrival into this world went unnoticed. Except, I assume, by my parents.
I hope to counteract this lack of impact by my birth by becoming a famous author revered world wide for his wit, compassion and insights into the human condition.
Well of course I do.
To this end I have been publishing on KDP since mid 2023. I have to report that the major impact that I have been expecting does not as yet seem to be happening. I am at a loss to understand this as my books are clearly all literary masterpieces.
Oh, yes, they are!
Well, I did have a friend who said he liked one of them. Once.
Anyway I am hoping to redress this lamentable lack of recognition for my writings by joining Goodreads.
To be serious for a moment, I am finding the lack of feedback on KDP to be a bit frustrating, and I have no idea what the readers who have bought my books or clicked on a free download option thought about them, except for a few ratings.
I would therefore appreciate any honest reviews of any of my books. I attach a link:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/Colin...

The 4 books for which I would especially like to have an opinion are:
The Eastwich Murder Files
Modern Life began in the Stone Age
Judgement Day and the end of Heaven
A Future History of Humanity
These are available free to KU subscribers.
As to my own readings, I am willing to try anything. One book i read recently which I enjoyed particularly was 'An officer and a Spy' about the Dreyfuss affair, written by Robert Harris.
I have posted on Oprah Book Club/my groups/comments/new authors looking for reviews, in which I have described my books in more detail. Or you can refer to the above link.
I can supply a free pdf file for 'The Saga of Gabriel' :'Who said Stone Age people were dumb': and 'The Saga of Mr. and Mrs. Smith' on request, as these are not enrolled in Kindle Select.
I think I might be overusing the word Saga in my titles!
Best Wishes ,
Colin Rigby

Angela Iremonger | 1 comments Hello everyone!
I've written two children's books so far with more to come in the series. The inspiration for the character, Charlie Piper, is a single-engine plane which my husband pilots and I passenge (what is the verb for what passengers do?? Sit and look out of the window doesn't sound as interesting)

My childhood was spent in Surrey though I'm now very firmly established in beautiful North Somerset.

"Charlie and the Cry for Help" was published at the end of 2023, following "Charlie and the Great Move".

I also write a blog about our travels in the PA-28 and other related musings at https://apilotscompanion.blog/

Bruno Pavlicek | 1 comments Hello all,

My name is Bruno Pavlicek. 1.5 months ago I published my 1st book entitled, "No Worries, You've Got College." This book was designed to motivate aspiring college students who may be on the fence about getting a degree, and or current students who may be having self-doubts and in need of motivation. Part of the book discusses my experiences as a one time student, who barely passed the SATs, and now has a PhD. I also feature stories of 7 of my former students as well as provide no-nonsense advice/tips to those in need.

I am breaking into the field of academic coaching at the same time but slowly. I have a website that I invite you to visit and my blog at: https://www.MotivateMeUniversity.org

Thank you and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me. You can follow me on Twitter and Facebook @motivatemeu or email me at info@motivatemeuniversity.org

Alexandra Gardner (agardnerbooks) Hello!

I'm Alexandra Gardner, author of King's Chaos in the on-going Light of Chaos series! I refer to myself as the Unofficial Queen of Chaos, as my books are a wild ride.

I'm local to the Pacific Northwest, and write New Adult Dark Paranormal Romance. My books include enemies-to-lovers, action/adventure, lgbtq+, gods, demigods, King Arthur + Merlin + "Round Table" characters, time travel, and others!

I read a wide array of genres, including contemporary, PNR + fantasy, scifi, and (recently) a few cozy mysteries. My biggest appeal is healthy relationship LGBT novels.

I'm hoping to make some connections here and hopefully appeal to new readers of my genres! I have some insight I can share as a self-published author, so hopefully I'm able to answer questions as I can.

Lisa Oswald | 1 comments Hi Everyone,
I'm Lisa Oswald, a brand new first-time author/channel of Awake Energy and the Unique Side of Infinity: The Transmissions of Pleiadian Great Light Channel and have been experiencing alternating freak-outs with excitement/confusion as we prepare to release the second book in the series sometime in late February. While finishing up Book 2, we realized what to do to define our brand and decided to have a redo of the first book cover/title to add our tagline; The Pleiadian Channeling Guide to...along with the original title and subtitle. Our books are gathered from the hundreds of recordings from when I did awake channeling for many groups and they are for anyone who wants to experience more of their own unique energy, soul light, insight, and wisdom. They are jam-packed with questions, conversations, energy exercises, and transformation/growth if you want it and I don't profess a teaching or belief system; no dogma.

We've put our hearts and love into this big project, made mistakes along the way, and continue to grow into this big new world of self-pub. and share a lot of helpful info for others to ponder and feel better, calmer, and a little clearer too about their life purpose.

Hoping for organic reviews to increase for all of us who are on this author's journey! Freetime? -Not so much but I do love hiking along the Columbia River (on the Washington side) not far from our home, growing giant zucchini, and giving out energy readings for home and work spaces with fearless shaman-style. Goodreads and good health to everybody.

It's a coming-of-age story set in Brevard, NC in the 1980s that deals with romance, friendship, and tragedy all set against the beautiful Appalachian Mountain landscape.

I practice veterinary medicine as a career but am trying to begin my journey as an author as well. I am working on my second novel now. If Southern fiction interests you, please consider reading my novel!

Otherwise, I would love to start making connections with readers and other authors. I am fairly easy going and love talking with people from all walks of life, especially if it's about nature! Anyway, happy reading and writing! --John

SWAMY VIJAY | 4 comments SENSELESS STORIES: FULL OF SENSE

Hi!
I am new to Goodreads!
I have an upcoming title 'Senseless Stores" Full of sense on Amazon.
The five stories in this book are
1. Unprotected Love!
2. World Between Worlds!
3. Asmodeus!
4. Devine Lust!
5. The Lady of Sin?
Prepare yourselves for an interesting journey through the mysterious world of human relationships. In this collection of tales, appropriately titled "Senseless Stories” Full of Sense, we look deep into the complexities of the heart, exploring the unconventional paths that lust often takes. Within these pages, you will come across narratives that challenge the conventional norms of romantic entanglements. These stories go beyond the limitations of physical intimacy, focusing instead on the intricate dynamics that develop when sexual desire is dominant. They celebrate the countless shades of lust that exist beyond the physical realm, reminding us that intimacy can be found in the most unexpected of places. In a world where lust dominates our conversations and influences our perceptions of love, it is refreshing to explore the unknown territories of emotional connection.

I based my main character on my wife and how I imagined her childhood must have been from the stories she's told me and how great she is with animals. Last year she made friends with a bumble bee, and squirrels knock on our glass door to get her attention.

I'd enjoy connecting with other authors to discuss writing, and publishing and to share what we've learned so far in this process. Have a great day!

John McBrearty | 6 comments Greetings all.

I would like to introduce myself. I served 32 years in the military and am now actively involved with writing my memoirs, among other genres. I recently published the COMBAT JOURNAL book series, which is available on Amazon. The series is a deep dive into the soul and emotions of a rugged yet sensitive military officer leading troops in combat. Literally an emotional rollercoaster!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
I will be releasing on Amazon this Monday, President’s Day, my latest book.
LEADERSHIP LESSONS from Operation Iraqi Freedom.
This study in leadership is the result of a successful 32-year military career. The following pages contain brutally honest, real-life leadership examples taken directly from the combat zone as documented in the COMBAT JOURNAL book series. This is an ideal reference for future generations of military and corporate leaders. After reading this book, you will see leadership in a whole new light and become a stronger leader as a result.
If you are interested in obtaining a copy of this manuscript for possible review, just hit me up.
I look forward to great things with this eclectic group.

When I’m not penning my next book or sketching for my coloring projects, I indulge in a variety of hobbies that reflect my multifaceted interests. I have a passion for reading that spans genres okie, and crafts poetry that captures the essence of my observations and experiences. Drawing and coloring are not just pastimes but extensions of my creative expression, while my interest in crafts showcases my hands-on approach to artistry. Beyond the realms of literature and art, I have an intriguing interest in mathematics, particularly enjoying the challenge of unraveling math tricks and delving into various formulas, including those in the pharmaceutical field or strangely flying formulas (I don’t even like being in a plane.). This unique blend of interests highlights my versatile talent and insatiable curiosity, making a distinctive voice and creator in today's creative landscape.
