I am from Cape Town, South Africa. I have recently self-published my first book, "The Adventures of Hemlock Storm." It is a short fantasy, though will be part of a short series by the same name.

It is currently available on Amazon in both ebook and paperback. I would love a review.

Pat Spencer (pspencer) | 306 comments Golden Boxty in the Frypan by Pat Spencer Hello Fellow Book Lovers:

My name is Pat Spencer. I want to introduce to you my new novel, Golden Boxty in the Frypan, recently released by Pen It Publications.

Golden Boxty in the Frypan is an unforgettable novel that brings to life the hardships and joys of a multigenerational Irish family struggling to stay together during the Great Depression. Fans of books like This Tender Land and Angela’s Ashes will appreciate the complex characters and themes of love, friendship, and family that make this book an emotional roller coaster.

In the end, Katie must overcome the toughest of circumstances and orchestrate an escape from a sinister orphanage to secure a safe life for herself and her siblings. Don’t miss this powerful story of resilience and hope.

Kevin Chilvers (kevinchilversauthor) | 11 comments Hi, I'm Kevin Chilvers. I read mystery, thriller, crime, action and adventure. Some of my favourite authors (giving away my age here) were Hammond Innes, Desmond Bagley, Colin Forbes, Clive Cussler et al. I now read similar - Lee Child, Scott Mariani, Dan Brown.
I got fed up at the shortage of these kind of stories written solely for enjoyment rather than deep meaning.
So, after twenty plus years learning how to write a damn good novel, and with life experience gained in careers in the Royal Navy (including being on a destroyer in there Falkland's War) and as a paramedic I'm now an award winning debut author in need of reader's and Amazon reviews on my newly released books. If you enjoy reading these Genres then check me out here and on Amazon.

Joshua Narins | 3 comments Hello Everyone,

By way of a re-introduction, my name is Joshua S. Narins and I am a literary fiction author based in New England. My debut novel, False Neutral (c) 2022, was released last October, and I am proud that it was honored as a 2022 Finalist in The Wishing Shelf Book Awards in the UK.

I have a new release, CLEAR-CUTS, a raw, visceral, unflinching tale about the ties that bind coming unbound. Set in the rough-hewn woods of northern Maine, whether you enjoy plot-centric stories or character-driven fiction, I think you will enjoy it.

I really enjoy reading about the projects that all of you are working on and my best wishes to everyone for success for all of them.

Best,

Joshua S. Narins

Hi. I am new to this forum with a debut mash-up of memoir/tell-all, 'Liar, Alleged'. I'm listed on the Goodreads site and with my authors bio, but my listing only has two (2) of the 11 currently posted reviews on Amazon. It also shows only two (2) five-star listings although I have 13 currently. Would someone please help me understand how to update the reviews and ratings from my Amazon page to my Goodreads page? Please? Thanks.

Ethan Sterling | 1 comments Hello everyone,

I'm Ethan S. Sterling, an author deeply invested in exploring the ethical and societal implications of artificial intelligence. I've recently launched my novel, "Genesis of Social Engineering," which is the inaugural entry in my series, "Web of Deception." This series aims to not only entertain but also provoke thought and discussion about the ethical considerations surrounding AI and its pervasive influence on society.

I'm eager to engage in meaningful conversations about the future of AI, its ethical dilemmas, and the impending era of artificial superintelligence. I believe that through storytelling, we can shed light on these complex issues and inspire action.

Looking forward to some enriching and eye-opening discussions!

Best,
Ethan S. Sterling

message 21117: by Ethan (new)

Ethan Sterling | 1 comments Of course, darling! Here's a draft introduction you can use for your Goodreads group discussion:

Hello everyone,

I'm Ethan S. Sterling, the author behind the "Web of Deception" series. My debut novel, "Genesis of Social Engineering," is more than just a story; it's a call to action and a conversation starter about the ethical implications of AI and its influence on society.

But my interests don't stop there. I'm deeply fascinated by the future of humanity, particularly in areas like space colonization and life extension. I believe that literature can be a powerful tool to explore these complex topics and spark meaningful discussions.

I'm here to connect with readers and authors who share these interests and are up for a thought-provoking exchange of ideas. Looking forward to some great conversations!

Larisa Huhman | 6 comments Hello, fellow book enthusiasts! I'm Dr. Huhman, a lifelong explorer of languages and cultures with a diverse background that spans Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan, all of which were once part of the Soviet Union. Although I pursued a career in medicine, my heart has always belonged to literature, particularly poetry.

My literary journey began with the works of Korney Chukovsky, often referred to as the Dr. Seuss of the Russian language. Chukovsky's books were the very first I encountered, and his influence on my love for literature has been immeasurable. His legacy as the most published children's book author for over a century speaks volumes about his enduring impact.

Recently, I had the privilege of translating and adapting one of Chukovsky's most beloved fairy tales, "Tarakanishe." (“Mr. Roach”) This tale holds a special place in the hearts of Russian-speaking children worldwide. Yet, it's intriguing to note that this innocent story became associated with authoritarian leadership, as Osip Mandelstam famously mentioned "cockroach's eyes'' in his poem about Stalin. In a more contemporary context, the fairy tale took on new relevance during the 2020-2021 Belarusian protests, where demonstrators referred to the incumbent president, Lukashenko, as the titular insect, chanting "Stop the Cockroach."

I'm excited to be a part of the Goodreads community, where I can connect with fellow book lovers, share my passion for literature, and explore the rich tapestry of stories from around the world.

There's something about reading and comprehending words from pages that makes me lost, far away from this reality where the place I'm taken to is light and with no burden. And only recently I've decided to make my own such reality and in a way, now lose myself in my own made reality.

I hope to add great things to this community and share my world. Coming out soon.

Hello, I’m new to this group and a newly published author.
This is my first book titled Forty Poems for Forty Years. I’m retired military having served in the airborne infantry and the coast guard. I’m also a member of the Chickasaw Nation. I was very surprised and grateful that my book was published so quickly and I’m hoping it opens the way for the book I’m writing now titled Partly Truth and Partly Fiction which is about my dad (Chickasaw) and his service in Vietnam as an infantryman and the fall out from his return that in many ways still reverberates through my family’s DNA. I’m grateful I have found this group and grateful to be a part of this writing community. If you like poems that are true to life and ones that addresse suffering, joy, and hope, then you may enjoy my book Forty Poems for Forty Years.

Ron Turker | 2 comments Hi. I'm Ron Turker, a guy who started in standup comedy in the '80s and, due to a series of non-linear events, ended up as a pediatric surgeon.
Through it all, I've been a writer because it's marginally cheaper than therapy. Marginally.

This year, moving from short form to long, I published my debut novel. A love letter to my career in Medicine, written with a very sharp pen.

If you like to laugh, and if you've ever sat in a doctor's office--or in a church pew--or sat in a pew next to a doctor, you might enjoy

"The Wandering Jew of St. Salacious."

A well-known secret: the U.S. health care system isn't a system, nor is it very healthy.

But Dr. Martin Fischer, the white-coated Quixote of TWJ, might just be the answer.

I still can't believe it.

Just pinch me, please.

As Einstein said so well:
"The only source of knowledge is experience."

That's why I called my story Drops of Life Experience,
as I'm sharing my lessons learned and the knowledge
that came of it with you.

It's my contribution to all of those who have struggled
or are still struggling. No one should ever have to go
through any of it alone, as I did.

You can improve,
You have the power to change things.

This is my first time self-publishing
so I'm figuring it all out as it goes.

Thank you so much for your support.

My latest book/kindle is about some of the many and varied experiences I have had whilst travelling in India during the past 30 years (I have made at least 50 visits). Despite its peculiar name, THE HITLER LOCK & OTHER TALES OF INDIA, the text is much more about India than that monster whose surname is in the title! The book, which aims to be both informative and entertaining, can be enjoyed by those familiar with India and those who are not. All the very best from Adam (Yamey)
