Sarah Winkler (sarahwinkler) | 2 comments Hi my name is Sarah, and I am quite the newbie Author. My book, Recycling for dummies, helps people not only become better recyclers but to understand how important recycling is.

It's been out for a month now and I have so much to learn about promoting a book. Writing it was the easy part! Not quite but at least it was more familiar to me. Thanks to everyone here and Goodreads for providing this resource that has already helped me move forward.

I have joined here to get some advice, some reviews and become part of the Author community by reviewing other books. I might even be able to rekindle my love of reading. I used to read all the time and miss it.

If you want to take a look at my book, here is the link:

Angela Zigann (angela_zigann) | 3 comments Hey everyone, I'm Angela.
I am a children's and parenting book author, living in Berlin, Germany.
As my mum was a librarian, books kind of run in my blood.

I'm a mum of two, a wife, love gardening and got an incurable salted caramel addiction. 🤪
Lovely meeting ya'll and I'm looking forward to what's to come.

Abby Alison | 3 comments Hey y'all. Nickname's Abby, and that's also the pen name for my two newly published books. Never shared my writing with the public before, so this should be intriguing.

Facts about me? Well, I own a bunny, a dog, and a guitar; I've been to six countries, and I've probably read a million books in my lifetime (the fact that I'm only a Gen-Z gal, says something).

But here I am, starting this author journey. I'd be thrilled to have readers be blessed by my stories! Check them out here: https://www.amazon.com/author/abbyali...

Sean O'Leary (olearyds) | 2 comments Hello everyone! I'm Sean. I have two published books, a children's book and a photo essay about a trip I took to the Buchenwald Concentration camp in Germany. I am currently working on my first novel.

I have always loved writing and reading but have not tried sharing with the world until recently. I did my first book signing a few weeks ago and got to talk with a bunch of great people. I think that is the best part about writing, the opportunity to share/receive ideas with others.

Emmy Vine | 1 comments Hi! My name is Emmy Vine. I recently published my first book, Something Sacred I Lost.

I'm not 100% sure what genre it is. It's got great character development, a love story that is a central part of the book, but it's more about a journey of healing after trauma. Sounds heavy, but it's actually quite accessible!

Hope you guys check it out.

Mike Aubé | 2 comments Hi, I'm Mike Aubé

I recently released Core Joy: Cultivating Sustainable Deep Happiness. It examines how we can develop a deeper, internal state of joy that is less dependent on circumstances.

It is my first book, but hopefully not my last!

In addition to prose writing, I am also a singer-songwriter, Reiki practitioner and Tarot reader. I love the outdoors and took up running as a "Covid project" and never looked back.

K.C. Bailey K.C. Bailey here. Anyone want a free e-copy of MOMENTS: Short Stories in possible return for a review on Goodreads? (The review wouldn't be required, of course, and any review would need to state upfront that you don't know me and the review is objective—as it should be.)

I'm an established non-fiction author of 6 books by large publishing houses (as Kathleen C. Bailey), but also enjoy self-publishing fiction (K.C. Bailey).

Let me know if you'd like a free e-copy!

David Kimberley (davich77) | 3 comments Hi all
My name's David Kimberley and I'm feeling a bit silly that I only just got my author page up and running after being a member on here for ages.
My first book was published in 2017 (Galahad Suns) and I have since followed that up with the sequels Nova Descent and Royal Gambit.
Very much looking forward to getting to know people on here and sharing books, advice, thoughts and help.
All the best

Jeff Emde | 1 comments Howdy all.

My name is Jeff Emde and I just got my author page up. I am new to Goodreads so bear with me. I have been writing for fun for a few years since retiring from the CIA in 2016. I got lucky and recently had two books published - Black Sun Rising: Book One: Praetorian Series and History's Assassins - Motives For Murder - published earlier this year with my co-author, ex-Navy SEAL Don Mann.
They are available on Amazon Black Sun Rising: Book One: Praetorian Series History's Assassins: Motives for Murder.

They were a blast to write. I have other projects in the works and try to write everyday but it seems I spend more time editing than writing. I look forward to getting to know people on this site and sharing ideas, hints, and general thoughts about reading, writing and publishing.

Cheers,
Jeff

This is a 14 page story that gives the psychology of a vampire who obsesses about some material rather than a living being which may or may not be fruitful for him in the end. Read how a blood sucking creature' s mental status changes and he finds meaning to his existence.

Chapman Hood | 8 comments Vincent wrote: "Please introduce yourself! Do you write books? Do you just enjoy reading them?

Let us know a little bit more about who you are:"

Hi Vincent,
I'm Chapman Hood Frazier and go by my middle name "Hood." My book of poetry, The Lost Books of the Bestiary, was just released in January in hardback and soft cover should be coming out in June by V Press LC out of South Carolina. Like a traditional Bestiary, it explores the spirit realm but not in a traditional Christian way and the poems do not have a traditional moral. They are, at times, a bit dark but also move into the spirit world through implication and some are influenced by Mik Maq cosmology that we exist in six worlds at the same time and move through them via dream.

I'm interested in getting the book out there and connecting with other poets too. Have been doing readings in North Carolina and Virginia so far. I've been a professor of English Education and taught creative writing poetry at Longwood University, Southside VA Community College, Murray High School and was a full time faculty member at James Madison University and the University of Maine at Presque Isle where I met the cove artist, Anderson Giles, who also was a Professor there.
I'm looking forward to seeing what other folks are doing here. This is my first venture into Goodreads.

Charles D. (charlesmccarrick) | 5 comments Hello!

My name is Charles McCarrick and I am an author, inventor and serial entrepreneur. In my youth, I wasn't much of a reader. So when I set out to write my first book, Lessons My Brothers Taught Me, I wanted to make it illustrated and humorous, so that people who find business and memoir books intimidating could still get through the book. Now I'm working on my next book, blogging on my author website, mentoring entrepreneurs and reading and reviewing books by other first time authors.

Reach out if you want to exchange books for reading and reviewing. My favorite topics include: longevity and health, business and entrepreneurship, fantasy and sci-fi, memoirs and physics.

IMHO, the author Must Have a substantial following, a proficient knowledge of how to write a story, grammar, and the whole bit, and before he/she publishes have the story scrutinized by readers, preferably readers of the particular genre. It's an uphill road, and you really must be up for the climb. It takes lots of writing, and rejections times 10, but maybe we get lucky. Write a lot, get an agent, and write some more. Good luck with your adventure. Your characters love you when you get their story told right:) Oh, post thought. Did I follow my advice? No. I did not. Just call me MR. Procrastinate. I am both and author and a reader! I just published my first book that I have been working on for 15 years. It's a YA fantasy, clean romance, adventure, written like a fairy tale. It's called: War & Chocolate, and is here on Goodreads!

I have been using Goodreads for years and absolutely love it and use it for book recommendations often. I just recently converted my profile to an author profile. I love all genres of books, but my favorites are: Fantasy, Fiction, Classics, and Historical.

I'm very glad to be here!

My name is Allyson Rice. I'm an author. My debut novel The Key to Circus-Mom Highway was released earlier this year, to excellent reviews and now a couple of awards - A Literary Titan Gold Book Award and 1st place in Contemporary Women's Fiction in the CLC Book Excellence Awards.

“In this rollicking family dramedy, debut author Rice sends three lovable siblings on a zany yet touching road trip… Comedy marks every page as Jess slings sarcastic one-liners, and wacky characters intervene in every quirky destination… Rice’s sharp observations of society’s absurdity verge on the satirical and even on occasion veer toward delightfully crude. To offset the humor, solemn moments add depth to the siblings’ inner journeys… Fans of family drama, road trips, and non-stop laughs will love this cross-country adventure.”

Jan Šťastný | 1 comments Hi everyone! I am Jan (Honza as my "nickname") from Czechia and I love reading!! I am only reader but it is my hobby which takes a quite big part of my freetime - however, I definitely don't regret it.
I joined to GR during 2021 year and I'm still discovering different corners of this great site!
My favourite genres are fantasy, sci-fi, detective novels, thrillers and maybe something else - I usually don't prefer one genre and I read books which really interested me - without some label. I know that I should read more but for this year I set my goal about 40 books (and I am on good way), and if I finish it, I will try to read up to 48 books (4 every month) in next year!
Most of my reading I have in Electronic form (I use ebook reader) but sometimes I also take some "paper" book. I am also interested in books from Czech authors, someone's are very inspirating - e.g.last crime novel "Vetřelec" was very interesting for me and I plan to read other books from this author.

David Loy Frishkorn | 1 comments Hello to all. So glad I found this group. I am an avid reader and a relatively new author. My first fiction book, The Great Divorce, was published in 2018 and follows a path of unrestrained racism and violence leading to a dissolution of the United States. My second book, The Great Reimagination, was published earlier this year and is set thirteen years in the future. Great leaders from the time of the dissolution of the former U.S. meet to do a post-mortem while our protagonist and his wife are kidnapped in Panama and there is an attempted coup in Havana. Lots of fun, adventure, thought-provoking ideas for the future and a better society. My website is www.davidloyfrishkorn.com.

Daniel Martinovich | 4 comments Hi,
My name is Daniel Martinovich. I had introduced myself some months back as a new author who has been writing and teaching on the subject of my first book for 30 years. At the time a few people wanted to review the book but I never got back to them because, and I really feel stupid about this; I thought it was some kind of scam. I was getting phone calls everyday from scammers and I really didn't even know anything about people who like to review books. So I thought I would re-introduce my book.
The Bible's Prophecy About The Free World.
https://www.westbowpress.com/en/books...
This is the back cover:
There are over a hundred chapters of Bible prophecy about a growing free world before the book of Daniel ever uttered a word of end time prophecy. A world in which kings and emperors, dictators and warlords, are being brought to nothing. A world in which there is no more legal slavery and the earthly promises of God made to a hundred generations of saints, unfulfilled in their time, could finally begin to come to pass. This simply could not occur in the ancient despotic world where the poor masses had little to no control of their temporal or even their eternal destinies. The prophecies you will read about in this book promised an era of conditional freedom and prosperity for many nations. They promise God’s people who live in these nations will be free from the fear of oppression, and that they will be able to raise their children as they see fit. They promise the nations and peoples most influenced by the Bible and its principles will be the dominant nations in the world, just as they have been for the last 500 years. None of this occurred when the Messiah came, or with the end of the first covenant age and the horrible destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. In fact, it got even worse for true believers after that. It certainly did not occur when European empires and kingdoms began to claim Christianity. This all began to occur in a specific year prophesied in Daniel and Revelation, and for a specific reason. The journey you take through “The Bible’s Prophecies about the Free World” is going to change your life and rock the world around you. Nothing will ever be the same. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him,” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

There really has not ever been anything like this book on the market before. It both amazes and makes the subject of Bible prophecy so clear that people walk away thinking, "That was so obvious. Why doesn't everyone know this?" Above all it is good news. The good news. I would be happy to submit it for review if anyone is interested. It is large print so don't be intimidated by the 314 pages.

Mike Fredericks | 3 comments I’m Mike, a first time author who just released my book, “Busting Drug Dealers: Diaries of a DEA Special Agent.” My website is www.specialagentpress.com. I spent nearly thirty years in US federal law enforcement as a “skymarshal,” criminal investigator for US Customs, and as a special agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration, including 15 consecutive years living and working in the international environment. Post retirement, I worked with DEA for 3 additional years to train and support foreign national police counternarcotics units working with US embassies overseas, and then worked 10 years for the Air Line Pilots Assn, Int’l (ALPA), as an aviation security specialist, training commercial airline pilots in security and counterterrorism. My first book is written from diaries of my early career with Customs and the DEA. Writing is something I’ve toyed with my entire life, but I’m eager to learn this entirely different learning curve from those of you who are able and willing to provide suggestions or advice. Thank you.

My tenure with the elite organization enabled me to patrol New Jersey from the country roads of rural Sussex County to the city streets of such heavily populated urban centers as Newark, Elizabeth, and Paterson. My investigative work resulted in more than 300 successful criminal convictions.

Since leaving the force I have written and published four nonfiction books while working full-time as a security consultant on emergency preparedness and response.

Richard Houlden (richardhoulden) | 9 comments Hi everyone!

I'm Richard and I'm a Self Published Indie Author that writes science fiction.
Writing has always been a passion and it's only recently that I gained the confidence to put my work out there to take the pursuit of my hobby seriously.

My first release, Beyond Volume 1: A Fate of Galactic Passage, is a space-opera adventure following four storylines that by drastic coincidences are brought together to stop a potentially devastating threat reaching Earth.
My second book, The Cartographer's Vault: Book 1, was released this week. It's a collection of thirteen short stories set in the multiverse of existence. I use struggles and fears that we go through naturally as the drive behind the stories that I've produced. This is the first of a series of short stories with the second and third installments well under way.

I'm here to hopefully find potential readers happy to give my work a go and leave either friendly or constructive reviews and I'm also looking to find new books to read by fellow Indie Authors or Self Pubbers - preferably in the sci-fi / fantasy genre but also happy to expand my intake and will review when I've finished.
Please do reach out if any of this is of interest.

Any follows will be returned and happy to accept any friend adds.

Cora Kent (corakent) | 2 comments Hello! I am Cora. I'm an author and a reader. I'm not sure you can be one without the other, frankly.

My first love is the YA fiction that shaped my life when I was in high school. Nothing ever made sense to me quite like Sarah Dessen and Elizabeth Craft.

I enjoy some historical fiction, romance across a variety of subgenres, and self-improvement and productivity books (those generally geared toward indies, of course!)

I am currently writing a dark bully romance that came to me when I was working out one day. The story has taken a mind of its own and it's beautiful and terrifying and insane all at once. I love it. :)

Hi Cora,
That's what I love about GR - the recommendations. I hadn't heard of either of the authors you mentionned, so off to check them out.

Libo Meyers (libomeyers) | 3 comments Hello! I am Libo Cao Meyers and I am launching my first book on June 27th, 2023.

Limp Forward - A Memoir of Disability, Perseverance, and Success

I am currently an engineering executive at Apple, where I have been working at since 2011. I spent all my Sunday time since early 2020 to write this book, and ready to launch in less than two weeks (June 27th, 2023).

You can find me mostly on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/libomeyers/. Other social media accounts can be found at my website https://libomeyers.com

My goal for this book

In this book, I want to tell you stories of resilience. Stories of my own, of my parents, and of my ancestors. I want to take you on a journey with me. We will travel in time, from several thousand years ago to modern times. We will travel to places across the globe, from a frigid forest tent in the northernmost point of China to a sunny boardroom in Silicon Valley, California. We will travel through different emotions: fear and bravery; sadness and joy; remorse and love; despair and pride.

I want to bring different perspectives that may impact how you see or understand this world, as many other people's stories have changed mine. Our histories undoubtedly look different, as do our futures. But once we have walked this stretch of path together, my hope is that those memories and experiences can offer you the different perspectives you need to feel relieved, get unstuck, and build the courage to keep moving again. If you ever feel like you are limping through life, you are not alone.

I also hope to build communication bridges through my points of view. For some bridges, I can only stand on one side with my own identities: Asian; disabled; woman; wife; high-tech professional . . . For other bridges, I belong to both sides: Chinese and American; mother and daughter; ancient and modern; poor and wealthy; defeated and successful . . . Through my own identities and the diverse life I've lived, I hope to remove some discrimination and biases in this world. You should see in me—like you may see in others—that we are all the same beings, grappling with human nature's complexities. The more we explore those complexities, the more we can see each other for who we really are.

I dedicate this book to

To those who are underprivileged and invisible, yet still giving everything to reach their full potential, with dreams and goals.

To those who have been wronged and undervalued, yet still chasing relentlessly for what is right and fair, with faith and confidence.

To those who feel desperate and hopeless, yet still fighting against all the odds with even a slim chance of winning, with courage and perseverance.

To those who are fighters and dreamers, believing someday you may reach the impossible.

May this book give you the strength and inspiration to limp forward during your darkest moments.

Except of the book - back cover:

I believe that I can lose, but I can't give in. When I am told "no," I make my own "yes."

"No, you won't be admitted to college and study the major you want. Those are for 'complete' talents, and you are disabled with polio."

So I went to a college and became the first to complete a four-year college in three years, with a graduate school admission.

"No, you can't possibly complete a master's degree in a field, while pursuing another doctorate degree in a different area at the same time! Nobody has ever done that, and you will fail in both."

So I limped forward to the opposite side of the globe, earned both a Ph.D. and M.S. degree in two different fields within 4 years, and stood strong on my own in a new country.

"No, you can't participate in sports or be an athlete because of your polio leg!"

So I completed a 100-mile bike ride, racing against 50 mph wind for 11.5 hours with the strength of one leg.

"No, you can't find your dream man to marry. Lower your expectations and settle for what you can get."

So I developed a scientific approach with machine learning models for dating, found the man of my dreams after the 82nd attempt, and married him. . . without lowering any of my expectations.

"No, you can't excel in Silicon Valley. It's a man's world."

So I became a high-tech executive at Apple, and I kept learning, growing, and leaping forward to my next set of goals . . . "

For readers on Goodreads

Since I am not a full-time writer and don't have any prior audience, I hope to join Goodreads to be able to connect to my readers. I spent most of my childhood reading, which I was in bed recovering from surgery. Those are the years that I felt the power of story telling, and now I feel the responsibility of telling my stories to encourage/inspire others.

I now only read about 10-20 books a year in my spare time, but definitely not as many as the readers and reviewers here. I always dream of reading a lot of books after my retirement. Books fueled me with knowledge, inspiration, and strength to move forward with my life, and this book is my way of giving those back to the readers' community. Feel free to write to me at libo@libomeyers.com, and I do read each email from my readers.

Ryan B. | 4 comments I am Ryan Haider, 13-year-old middle schooler who resides in Fair Oaks, California. I love to write and read. I sat in my sixth period creative writing class pondering what to write, when an idea sprang to life that led to writing and publishing a novel. I found it exhilarating to be working on a book for the very first time. My writing explores themes of family, plot twists, and action, combined with mystery and suspense into an intriguing blend for readers of all ages to enjoy.
