Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hi, My name is Michael Cain. I read and write books. I have a Romantic comedy out called Mr Rebound, through Lyrical Press.
I love Jennifer Crusie and Janet Evanovich. I also love Paranormal romances and Uraban Fantasy. JIm Butcher, Patricia Briggs, Jr Ward, Charlaine Harris, Laurell K Hamilton.
Hi everyoneI'm Janet Sked. I have two e-books out; WolfSong (epic fantasy, with lots of swords, magic and characters with attitude problems)and Basement Blues and other stories, a collection of short stories that are urban fantasy and horror focused.
I love to read, especially thrillers, fantasy, paranormal, crime, adventure - actually, I read almost everything except outright romance, and I'll give that a shot if there's a good story involved.
I'm on twitter (@JHSked) and my blog is http://jhsked.blogspot.com, feel free to head on over and have a chat.
Hi Phil, I can commiserate with you. As a teacher myself, I spend a lot of time negotiating with my self to find time to write instead of grade and lesson plan. I am bright and shiny new here too. Welcome.
Hey! That's how we say Hi in Georgia. AS a New Yorker who arrived here via California and New Hampshire, which might seem like a Family Circus kind of way to send Billy to get the paper... well, it was.
But here I am, happily slogging away at novel #4, with a killer NY agent waiting in the sidelines for the final pass.
I'd love to make connections with other authors, not just those in my state! ;-) Be happy to trade reviews/ guest blog posts, etc.
I am trying out the world of e-publishing, with an international publisher who brought out a legal thriller novella of mine, and this month, we'll see the arrival of Not Waving, Drowning, an epic story involving three generations of women, that has been referred to as, "The Hours in Savannah."
Stolen from the hands of traditional NYC publishers, and the brick and mortar stores. The much awaited for fiction debut for Linda Sands. Get it now for only $2.99. ( comments and reviews on Amazon, I-Books very much appreciated. will be available to Nook in a another week)
Thank you!

interested in a good read, I just released a vampire/angel novella that thus far has gotten good
feedback. It's available on smashwords for free. http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...
Have a nice day everyone. I look forward to interacting with you.
Hi all, I live in the south west of Western Australia with my family. I've been an avid reader all of my life, and have always enjoyed writing. To date, I have one novel published, one almost there, and another on the go, not to mention the manuscripts tucked away for another day. I love poetry and hope to publish a poetry book one day. My website: http://www.jeanettehornby.com.au/
Hi I am Susan Evans, retired school librarian, and book lover. Just learned about Goodreads and am looking forward to book recommendations and discussions.
Hi all, I'm MaryAnn. I love to read YA and have been in a Dystopia type of mood lately. Looking forward to book recommendations, books to review and meeting fellow bloggers.Visit me at my blog .
Hi everyone! My name is Galadriel Thoman, I am 31, and I have been writing all my life. Almost literally. I wrote my first book when I was 4, and it was called Baby Animals. I even illustrated it myself! :) I have progressed some since then (I hope). I'm currently working on my first YA novel, since being inspired by the amazing creativity and originality of the YA voices we have now. I am a speed reader, and have read so many books in the adult section that I have found that the books out there now are basically regurgitating the same story over and over. The authors that aren't only produce a novel every few years. So I picked up If I Stay by Gayle Forman, and loved it so much I started digging around the YA section. Next was the Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr, and I haven't stopped reading YA since. I love reading, and writing, and just books in general, and I am pleased to see that the industry is changing so much in favor of new authors thanks to the technological age we are in today. I'm so thankful we are able to hear so many wonderful voices now, and I hope soon to be one of them!
I was named after the elf queen in Lord of the Rings! My mother was a huge fan of the books, and if I was a boy I would have been named Gandalf. So, thank the gods I turned out to be a girl! Thank you, I love my name too! :)
Susan wrote: "Hi I am Susan Evans, retired school librarian, and book lover. Just learned about Goodreads and am looking forward to book recommendations and discussions."Hi Susan,
What do you think about the likelihood of Kindle e-book lending in libraries?
Personally, I love libraries and am a recent convert to e-books so I think it is a good thing for the future.

Hello, everybody - writers and readers alike! And I do hope there are some readers out there who really like to get to know the people who create the stories they enjoy.
I'm Malla Duncan and I live in Cape Town and I write psychological thrillers set in England. I've been writing for over 20 years and I've had several short stories published with a couple of prizes along the way - so I'm an experienced writer and you can expect a good read!
I've posted more info about my books on the thriller thread and also a children's fantasy novel on the children's thread. My books are all up on B&N Nook Book - but not had much in the way of sales on that platform - not sure why because I have placed an ad on Goodreads - but these things take time I suppose.
But I wish you all the very best of luck with writing and reading. May the tradition continue!

Hi, Jodie! Navigating the new frontier of ebooks is not easy. I'm personally finding it quite difficult to connect with my target market. I love ebooks - but I do wish traditional publishers would loosen up and work with Indie writers. We still need their brand power in the market and let's face it, they still need writers. If we could win-win collaborate, the ebook frontier could become a veritable kingdom!

Hi everyone,
My name is Ro and I'm a writing addict. I'm a Mom of two who has been seriously pursuing a writing career for three years. I've written three manuscripts, in addition to doing some freelance work. I was signed to an e-Book contract by a small e-Publisher back in August and my debut novel, Snow Escape, was just released on October 1st. I'm in the process of revising my first manuscript, which is a fictionalized account of events that occurred on my Mom's side of the family. Once I'm finished with it, I hope to secure representation. I've faced quite a bit of rejection in the last few years, but I know in my heart that writing is what I was put on earth to do. Perseverance is my middle name. In addition to writing, I love to read. My tastes are very eclectic, but I'm partial to tragic romances.

Hello! My name is Chrysoula! I'm a writer and a gamer and a knitter and a mom. And between all that, I'm a reader, too. It fills the gaps like water fills the gaps between a jar of beans. (Maybe that metaphor could use some work...)
Anyhow, I have an urban fantasy coming out from a small press in the first quarter of 2012, featuring angels and nephilim and a host of other interesting entities. I'm also currently self-publishing a paranormal YA serial adventure on my blog, about weapons, monsters and relationships. I'm looking forward to hanging out here.

Hi! I'm a fairly new member on Goodreads and a fairly newly published author. The best way to describe me is to say that I hate to be pigeon-holed. Debra H. Goldstein, judge, author, litigator, wife, step-mom, mother of twins, civic volunteer, Yankee, and Southern Woman writer are all words that have been used to describe me. Maze in Blue, my debut cozy, is set on the University of Michigan's campus in the 1970's. Go Blue! -- said even though I live in Alabama and am married to a man whose blood runs crimson. Although my first novel is a mystery, my favorite type of fun reading, my writings have ranged from non-fiction essays and legal articles to humorous law related short stories. I'm looking forward to being part of this group and becoming friends with many of you. As I write this, I'm reading Donna Andrews' Stork Raving Mad.
Hi Everyone! I am a new author and just published my first book called RED ROCK. When I am not writing, I am reading or riding my horses. Nice to meet all of you!

Hi everyone! My name is D.D. Chant I'm 24 and live in Devon, England. My first book is available on amazon and smashwords it's called Broken City and it's set in the near future after a banking crisis has brought the world to a standstill. It tells the story of Deeta a young woman who was born after the world went crazy and her friendship with Tom. Deeta finds out that though she thinks she knows Tom, he's keeping secrets and not everything is as it seems.....I have a second book which I'm hoping will be ready to upload in November which is called 'The Promise' a romantic adventure set in saxon England that is the start of a series.
At the moment I'm working on the next book in 'The Promise' series, on a modern day romantic adventure and a novel set in a dystopian future that is also the start of a series.

Hello everyone!
Meet Me In The Mountains
I am a new and first time author.
I am looking for five people to review my book. I will choose the lucky five this week. You will be sent my book for free in hopes that you will give me a good review. I have written an uplifting, truthful and sometimes controversial memoir that is sure to bring hope and inspiration to those who read it. I move through life facing fears with creative determination and solutions. My Catholic faith is apparent in grade school and continues to this present day. I strive to find hope in all situations even when life is not fair. For example, my fight to help two of my three children, both diagnosed in their teenage years with the autoimmune disease called Crohns. In addition, I expose my personal and private heartache involving the decision to forgive the at-fault-party who was the cause of my husband's senseless wrongful death. I wrote this book with the desire to share my story to others who feel like life is too much to bear. The story is very personal and revealing. A few of my decisions go against the moral teaching of the Catholic Church. I justified them to keep peace. This doesn't make them right. I am stubborn, yet compassionate. My biography reflects humor, anger, rejection, faith filled persistence and patience. My book will open doors to sharing and bonding. Simple questions follow each chapter encouraging readers to share their own stories and morality within a group or just reflect on them alone.
If you are interested in reading my book and would be willing to post a review on this site in the next few weeks, please let me know.
Blessings,
Candy Marie Bridges

Hello, all! Thank you, Vincent, for setting up this group! My name is Karen A. Wyle, and after a very long and circuitous route, I'm finally publishing my first novel, Twin-Bred. It's science fiction with a sociological focus. The "elevator pitch": Can interspecies diplomacy begin in the womb?...
I have another novel in rough draft, general fiction, tentatively titled Reflections. It is set in an afterlife, and addresses themes of family communication and resolving unfinished business. I also have a science fiction story, The Baby, in rough draft, which may be the first in a collection concerning human cloning.

Hi Karen, I've PMed you so we don't crowed up the intro thread!!!
Hey! Good to meet all of you!I relate to Debra's post. I have a bit of difficulty with pigeon holing myself. I would love to see a database of books with a more precise classification system. For instance: I am listed as a Fantasy writer because my books take place on another world. That is true but the world is very earth-like and the "fantasy" classification leaves no room for the fact that it is also a murder/suspense/adventure book with a strong female lead, no monsters, psi talents and has wildlife as part of the cast of characters.
As for myself.. I am a furniture maker, an artist, former speech pathologist, designer and now an author. The Unraveling just came out as an e-book and it's sequel is due out in about a month.

This is such a great group to have found! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of these discussions! I am a newly (self-published) author, published illustrator and graphic designer. Most of my literary work is for children (my novel, "The Nameless World" is written for middle-grade readers), but I also like writing short stories with a more noir feel to them. I welcome anyone who is interested to check out my websites (www.thenamelessworld.com and www.payersmithbooks.weebly.com).
Thanks again! I look forward to getting to know a lot of you!
Hi Heather! I'm DeeDee and I'm an Indie too. I have a LOT of respect for people who illustrate their own work, I'm hopeless at drawing!!!
Hi everyone,I write and read. I recently published my novel, River in the Sea, and ever since I bought my Kindle last winter, I have been reading more than ever. I have an MFA in fiction and teach composition at two local colleges. Because let's face it, after your MFA, that's your only marketable skill! But I really enjoy it, well, everything except the grading.
I love to read everything from literary to vampire fiction, with nonfiction and self-help thrown into the mix. I live in Oregon and presently have a fluffy black cat trying to insert himself into this conversation by walking on the keyboard.
Happy to hang out on Goodreads!
Hi All, I am Dave from England. Joined a few days ago and trying to find my way round this useful but dizzying site. I have six books up on Kindle and several with Smashwords.

Details here. Thank you for looking. Good luck with all your books!
