Introduce Yourself!
Vincent wrote: "Please introduce yourself! Do you write books? Do you just enjoy reading them?Let us know a little bit more about who you are:"
Hello! I go by "Leigh" to keep it simple. I'm an author of fun urban fantasy books, and I just released my first contemporary romance this past summer. I'm just getting back into writing (yes, I'm officially a "plague author" now) after a 6-year absence. I stopped writing because I was a caretaker for two family members and couldn't write fun stories while I was in the middle of illness/worry/death situations (go figure). I'm back now and funny again, about to publish the 4th installment of my Relic Hunter Series.

Hello, My name is Maria A. Perez, and this month I'm celebrating my birthday by self-publishing Book One in my romantic space opera series. The title is The Curse of Sotkari Ta.
A little bit about myself:
I was born in Yonkers, NY, and grew up in New York City. I also lived in Puerto Rico and now reside in Boca Raton, Florida. I hold a Bachelor’s in Business and had a successful career in Corporate America working in Accounting and Finance. Early retirement has allowed me to focus on my dream of writing and becoming a published author. I'm married with two young adult sons and a labradoodle daughter. I enjoy reading all genres, although I'm partial to dystopian, space opera, and romance series such as The Hunger Games, The Expanse, and Outlander. A diehard “Trekkie” and Star Wars fan, I'm fascinated with the possibility of what is out there in unexplored space and the potential of the human race.

Hi! I am the moderator of New Authors on Goodreadshttps://www.goodreads.com/group/invit...

I am, no I should say we, are Nora Katzir. That is the pen name used by us, Nora Ottaviano and Jeannette Katzir while collaborating on a book series we’re calling ‘The Coterie of Sleuths’. We have been close friends for many years and have stood side by side through the many ups and downs that life has tossed our way. A few years ago, we started writing about these unscripted adventures and found ourselves laughing and crying as they were woven into the pages of our books. Our first book is titled ‘The Contest’. It features four lifelong friends, who somewhat resemble the two of us and two other friends. Even though these characters come from different backgrounds and have different goals, they share their four very different viewpoints to help each other. Our characters, like us, represent what a wide swath of women are undergoing. And we invite you to read about these strong opinionated women. Find out what they think about the men in their lives and what advice they give women to fix their own problems.

"It's not much of a tale, but I'm attached to it" ...well actually, when I'm not having an Eeyore day, I think it's a GREAT tale!I'm an author...self published, but hey! Got that first in the series complete, all 150,000 words, and have even won an award (Reader's Favorites- 2020 Gold Award for Young Adult-Epic Fantasy).
Second book is nearly complete and now it's just a matter of finding a way to sell them! Til then, come read it so we can discuss this crazy new world of writing that I'd added to my addiction to reading!

https://www.goodreads.com/lance_packerI'm Lance, the author of the recently self-published non-fiction book, "Control: The Foundation of Life," through Amazon though also available at B&N, Kobo, Apple and others. I also have a Giveaway promotion for the month of September.
I've posted a description on the Welcome post at GR Authors>Discussion> Non-fiction, so I won't repost that here. Instead, I'd like to just say that I try to point out how control is the absolute requirement for the continued existence of all life forms and that the book details how it explains why humans, in particular, do everything they do and believe--from family life to religion to sex to humanity's future and everything between. It's a narrative that everyone can enjoy and benefit from, including daily decision-making.
As a way of extending the ideas in the book, I invite you to take a look at my website, https://www.lancepacker.com, regardless of whether you have read the book or not, and join in the discussions in the forum as we talk about what's happening in our lives, whether nationally or individually. It's just getting going, so feel free to jump in. See you there!

One in particular I enjoy is one I call The Physics of Poetry featuring Nikola Tesla. I hope to learn more about publishing here and getting the motivation to write with the goal of completion my first book of poems with my husband.

Nice to meet you. I read your comment about laying waste in the land of IT and my head groaned out - if only I understood IT. You truly have a great advantage working in the writing industry with all of your comfort around technology that I am assuming comes with IT. I myself set aside my writing dream for 22 years to raise a family, but I would argue that my writing is richer coming out on the other side from the press of life.
I'll have to look into Lulu. That sounds interesting. My friend just helped me make my first book trailer. It's here if you would like to see it.

Hope whatever you are working on now is drawn from the depths of experience and heightened by your time in IT raising the best thing in life :)

I love the title of your book! I knew music was powerful and there's nothing like a fiddler to tell a tale, but to bring the fire with more than a bow and string sounds intriguing!

Hi, my name is Dennis. I'm a journalist and editorial illustrator that's working on my first graphic novel. It's in the subgrenre of weird western so is a mashup with horror. I read a ton. Lot's of novels, nonfiction and graphic novels. I gravitate towards literary but enjoy all genres. Currently reading Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu, The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones and Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut. The latter has sat unread on my shelf for years. Am also making my way through some Richard Sala books and just finished a Nick Drnaso graphic novel entitled Sabrina. Recommend both authors. Look forward to joining the conversation here.
Hi Everyone!Just published my first book 'Be better...the urgency is now' and am excited to be here! I've written quite a bit but mostly in the academic world, so this book has really brought me back to a more liberating form of expressive writing that I have missed! I also love to read as well mostly non-fiction, motivational, biographies, social justice and health related books. Welcome new friends, reviews of my book and learning about other great books!
Respectfully,
Camille
Hello everyone, my name is Eli Bischof and I'm a huge fan of science fiction, as well as a science fiction author. When I was 14 years old, I stumbled upon Frank Herbert's Dune series and I've re-read them many times since. Though Herbert is still one of my personal heroes, my tastes have shifted to authors that write stories with more tangible connections to our Earthly origins. I love Arthur C Clarke's fantastic explorations of technologically advanced extraterrestrials and he's certainly inspired my own written explorations of the same. Isaac Asimov is another one of my favorite authors and I'm always awed when I think about how prolific of a writer he was, not to mention that he tied nearly all of his fiction works into the same universe. People talk about world-builders with awe, meanwhile Asimov is working on the universal scale! It's so gratifying to read his books and figure out how it fits in with the others. There's many more sci fi authors that I enjoy, but I don't want to run on for too long. Thanks for having me and I look forward to finding out what you all have enjoyed!

I had to smile at your list of favourite authors, which reads just like my husband's. I wasn't much into sci-fi, but when he bought the first Dune book I read it; and the second, and so on. I loved them, so I now read sci-fi selectively. Arthur C Clarke is up there, obviously, and I also like a bit of Ursula K Le Guin. If you have any hot tips for others I'd always be glad to hear of them - as would hubby, obviously.
Enjoy your Goodreads experience!
Best wishes, Laura

It's always lovely to meet folks with similar tastes. I've been meaning to read Ursula K Le Guin for some time now and have yet to remedy that. Do you have any favorites from her? I'm sure you've probably read some Asimov, but I recently read The Gods Themselves and highly recommend it, especially in relation to his other works. If you're interested in something new, I recently published my first novel, Every Body Dies. I feel a bit bashful about recommending my own book, but, since you and your husband enjoy Arthur C Clarke and he was an influence on my story, you might enjoy it.

I have a whole bunch of others by her on my Amazon wish list but haven't got there yet; I have so many books to read! I'll certainly find the Asimov book you recommend, and your own book too. There's no harm in recommending your own book, I published my own debut novel recently (not sci-fi so probably not you) and it's up to me to promote it because nobody else is going to! So I'll let you know when I get to it. I'll stay in touch. Best regards, Laura
Hello EveryoneMy name is Belynda Wilson Thomas I have just self-published on Amazon my first novel. It is about the redeeming power of love, secrets, and family. The title is Secrets and Silence. I look forward to writing more and even getting into illustrating a Children's book. I wrote a little story about a dog a few years ago and if anything is going to be done with it, I realized I'm going to have to make it happen. It is a project I'm loving more than I thought I would. Best wishes to all newly published authors. It is a group I've wanted to be part of and now I'm delighted that I am.

Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, J.R.R Tolkien, James Dashner, Victoria Aveyard, Sara Raasch, newcomer Rory Power, and Wilder Girls, and of course, Suzanne Collins and the Hunger Games. I could go on and on about all the great reads that are out there, but I won't bore you. Thanks for letting me join your group.

Hello Everyone, Tommy Bradburn here...I have written several books on how to operate a restaurant, but recently I realized that my wife and I's story was so compelling that it needed to be told...How we met, fell in love, found our cabin in the mountains, how I overcame PTSD because of Vietnam, how she overcame cancer, how we flipped cars at the age of 54, how we flipped 26 houses at the age of 60 and all the adventures in between. Hi everyone. I love reading books, especially historical fiction and mystery/suspense. I have spent my entire career as a journalist, including 14 years as a reporter and editor at a major metropolitan daily newspaper. I've also been a magazine writer and written extensively about the global energy market. I never thought I'd write a work of fiction, but have just finished my debut novel, Summer Club, where murder meets the absurd when a journalist-turned-stay-at-home mom stumbles onto a dark fraud scheme at the neighborhood swim and tennis club. Planning to launch it around Oct. 1, give or take...COVID is making this a bit more challenging! My recent favorite books: Homegoing; All the Light You Cannot See; Where the Crawdads Sing.

Hello y'all! My name is Lynn Wallace. Not only do I love reading books, but now I've taken to writing them as well! More about my first book, The Heart of Everything, can be found under these specific genres: Christian, Paranormal, Romance, and YA. The reason I listed my book in so many places is because that's what I write - I call it "paranormal romance with a Christian twist" and it's primarily geared towards a young adult/ new adult age group. You can learn more about me and my book(s) at my website below. It's great to meet everyone!~Lynn Wallace

Hello Everyone! My name is Sean Adams, I love writing, discussing, and reviewing books as well as helping out other aspiring authors with Beta reads and reviews! My favorite genres are contemporary fantasy, prehistoric fiction, and sci-fi.

When the road gets rough, grab a skateboard. That's the philosophy of Joey Moore, the hero in my new book Sunnybrook (https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B08BNB9XFB). Don't worry; it's not all about skateboarding.
It's a coming-of-age novel that only took me 30 years to write. Life just kept getting in the way.
My name is Mike Maddock and I am the owner and publisher of a small weekly newspaper in Columbia, SC. So, if you could buy my book soon (and buy copies for your friends) because I don't know how much longer my little newspaper is going to be around.
I have three children, one in law school, one in college, and one that's a senior in high school. So...as I mentioned...any help you can give is much appreciated.
I've been writing a humor column since 1999 for the paper, and I've published a "best of" book of those columns called "20 Years of Something, The Best (and Worst) of Mike Maddock," which you can also find on Amazon.
I'm thrilled and thankful to be a part of the Goodreads community. I only wish I'd found it sooner. Thanks for reading my little post! Please let me know what you think of Sunnybrook and 20 Years of Something and have a great day!
Hello! I'm C.L. Stambush. I'm a reader, writer, editor and soon to be self-published author -- hopefully in late November 2020. My book UNTETHERED is a travel memoir about my 5-month, 7,000 miles solo journey on a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle along the edge of India in a quest to be bold.
I have a degree in journalism from Indiana University and and MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. I'm currently the editor of a university magazine.
After years of writing and querying -- I had two offers of representation that didn't pan out -- I've decided to self publish. My logic being a woman who rode a motorcycle solo around India didn't need validation from the elite traditional-publishing world to put her book into the world. :)
I'm thrilled to have found this group and look forward to reading your insights and engaging in bookish conversations--which are the best kind of conversations to have!

I am Preeti G, a passionate writer. I have written a couple of poetry books and recently tried my hand at mystery. All in all, I love reading books as much as writing them. And, though I don't have any one favorite author, I usually love reading paolo coelho and such other brand of books.
