George Stratford | 7 comments I've already introduced my novel, Buried Pasts, to you all a few days ago. Now I'd like to offer a second title of mine up.

In The Long Run

IT'S NOT JUST THE RACE THAT CAN KILL YOU

Against the backdrop of one of the world’s most demanding races, four men must fight their personal battles for survival.

THE RACE: South Africa’s awesome Comrades Marathon – fifty-five miles of physical torture run over a series of massive hills in stamina destroying heat and humidity.

THE MEN: an idealistic British marathon runner duped into assisting with a murderous plan; a world famous American entertainer who unknowingly puts far more than just his career on the line; a Zulu youth with outstanding natural athletic ability but an unknown enemy; and the dissolute son of a wealthy Johannesburg stockbroker competing in a desperate attempt to preserve his inheritance.

Some of these will learn harsh lessons. Some will pay a far heavier price.

None will ever forget.

“A gripping tale from start to finish.” Steve Cram: Six times a gold medallist at Commonwealth, European and World Championships, also Olympic silver medallist and world record holder for the mile 1985 - 1993.

In the Long Run is newly available in Kindle format from USA & UK Amazon websites. In addition,I am offering two paperback copies of this book in a GoodReads giveaway commencing 4th September. The opening two chapters can be downloaded for free as a PDF.

Francisco Seguin (SEEpublishing) | 6 comments Spencer wrote: "Is it erotica? Or is it an action book?"

Hi Spencer

It's an action tale about a crew of kamikaze film makers who place their lives on the line to capture the image at any cost. It's a comment on societies relationship with audio-visual eroticism; be it through the 6 o'clock news, or train surfing with a camera in your hand, or sky diving with a camera strapped to your head; it's about the necessity to capture the "real", to find that moment when you felt most alive; when you felt immortal, "turned" on by the experience, so much so that you needed to capture it and play it back over and over again. It's about the search for identity; what is art, what is life, and what is in-between? It's about when the only meaning left, is the one that costs you everything, and you'll do whatever it takes to make others understand it.

I find my topics in odd places. The idea for AV actually came to me during my past life as a student teacher. During my rounds I was working with a high school class of film students. On the return trip during an excursion, one of the lads had a video camera and decided to hang his body out the window of a bus to shoot a close-up of a semi-trailer. He didn't care that we were on a freeway doing over 100kph. He just wanted to know if he could do it; if he could get away with it. The rush I felt watching him was intense; and that's when it got me thinking about the risks film makers and photographers take when it comes to getting "the shot". War photographers have been doing it for decades; always commenting on the necessity to get "the shot"; the one shot that says it all, encapsulates the moment, as well as their own immortality to survive that moment. It's an addiction. We all have it, our entire life is about sense and perception. We live and breathe through the visual and audio cortex; we're peaked by it, plugged in and turned on at all times; even when we're dreaming. It reveals our fears and our anxieties, as well as our own private needs and desires.

I hope you take the time to read my book, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Check it out at: http://www.amazon.com/AV-Erotica-Fran...

Cheers and have a nice day :)
Francisco

Jenna (jennale) Hello! I'm Jenna. I've been an avid reader of books for as long as I can remember; since 2007, I've also been a Goodreads member and book reviewer. (Most of the books that I review on my Goodreads page are poetry collections; if you're the same way, let's be friends!) Additionally, for the past 2 weeks, I've been able to call myself the author of a newly released book of poetry: SIX RIVERS, published by New York Quarterly Books. I'm happy to be here.

Natasha McNeely (nrfarrell) | 7 comments I'm Natasha, an eighteen year old college student, writer and blogger.
I've been reading for as long as I can remember and been working on improving my writing craft for the past six years. I started my blog in March this year; it's over at http://natashamcneely.wordpress.com

I'm currently working on the first novel in my four-part series (more information on my blog), as well as some smaller projects to send off to magazines for potential publishing.

I've been published once before, at the start of this year. One of my short stories appeared in this anthology - Under the Stairs: An International Collection of Flash Fiction

I have other novels planned, aside from my current project, but I want to focus on it primarily, before I start work on other stories. Writing one novel between college and a part-time job is difficult enough.

I love reading Urban- and Dark Fantasy; I especially love novels that center around Egyptian mythology. It's something I adore and research in my free time.

RM Pala | 16 comments I'm RM Pala and I wrote a science fiction story that was published by Invisible College Press in 2002. The title is "MarsFace" and it is listed with Amazon and B&N.

My husband convinced me to self-publish after a four year search for an agent, so my book "Hollywood and Wine" will come out later this year. So far, the experience with createspace has been very good.

A small illustrated booklet, available on Amazon, was edited by me. Its title is "Dressage Horse Laughs; Silly Riders, Tricks are for Kicks" and should be available very soon.

I had one take me on a couple of years ago, who was very nice but she had alot of ill health and retired, leaving me back to square one. I've self-published now and I'm loving it. I write children's action novels and sites like thi are great for getting in touch with other readers.

Ghunterhanks | 5 comments Hi Everyone,

My name is Greg Hanks. It's encouraging to see other writers struggling and succeeding. Writing and teaching are callings. I teach developmental writing at community college, and have published an ebook on Kindle.
Sister Moon: Stories of the Supernatural is a collection of 13 (of course!) urban fantasy stories. A few can be read as fiction; arguably, there's no ghost in one of the ghost stories, for example.
I'm excited to get something out there; an ebook on a virtual shelf seems like a good start.

Hey Greg, what's developmental writing -- is that like writing 101 to teach students how to write an academic paper? Do you get to teach creative writing as well?
I love the beginning novel writing classes I teach at a local community college -- continuing ed. where I meet the most interesting people! I'm nearly finished writing a text book to go with my class. When I'm done I'll publish it as an ebook on Amazon and Create Space (for less tech savy students).

Tracey Smith | 107 comments My publisher has not been the easiest to work with! I am not directly involved with kindle or amazon, it all goes through my publisher. Live and learn. My book is available on Amazon paperback and kindle. I'm working with my publisher on allowing me to participate in the "Look inside the book" program, but don't think it's activated yet. My book should also be available for nook and google ebooks very soon. The paperback is currently avaiable through amazon, barnes&noble and lowest price directly from publisher at www.publishamerica.net/product41596 . I am also still working with my publisher on lowering the paperback price on amazon and bn. They have promised me that that price has been dropped but it takes 4-6 weeks for the websites to update... We're currently at the end of week 3 since I got that email.

Lynn Hallbrooks (lynnhallbrooks) | 135 comments Carroll wrote: "Hey Tracey, doesn't Kindle offer free samples for your book? I know they offer a free sample of one and a half chapters for mine. Was just curious."

Carroll, I believe it is 10% of the book is available to be sampled. I don't think there is a choice on that one. The chapter amount varies. Our book people can see about 10 chapters worth on the sample.

I think it is a great way for a reader who is unsure of the genre or the author to see if it is a good match for them.

Carol Fetter | 164 comments Hello All,

I think all of us authors are looking for promotional help and based on that, I just created a coupon code that I would like to share with all of you.

My book is a true story based on my abused childhood at the hand of a pedophile titled Mommy Can't You See... His EYES Are Always On Me!

I recently challenged the B4U-Act group or any Doctor that believes pedophilia is an acceptable behavior; to read my recently published book and then look me in the eye and say that they really believe that society should embrace pedophilia!

I have had no response from them which does not surprise me at all given the content of my book.

If anyone would like to read a disturbing firsthand look at the abuse of a pedophile, please use the coupon code I just created LE35S which drops my book price to $1.99 at check out.

You can download it in many formats at https://www.smashwords.com/books/view.... I appreciate any feedback or support from any of the many authors or readers associated with this website.

Please feel free to share the coupon code with any of your friends or family.

Sincerely, Carol Fetter

I am an author and I just finished a giveaway of my books last week. Since there were almost 600 people who put them both on their TBR list, I want to follow up with a Q&A. I'm doing one book at a time and already put the first one up on Goodreads. It's called Q&A with Barbara Ebel so please come by! For folks to have time to read, the real book discussion starts later, but there's time to come by and introduce yourself.

I'd love to meet you! You can read about me there also (an M.D. turned author). Also, the book in question for this Q&A is Outcome, A Novel: There's more than a hurricane coming... I'm getting super feedback so I hope you take a look if you haven't already. It is general fiction/historical fiction.

Besides looking it up on Goodreads, here's my website which is also a good start if you aren't familiar with Outcome, A Novel from the giveaway.
