Marty Conley | 5 comments Hi All -
I am a new author (The Dead Man Story). I've been telling crazy stories my whole life - mostly because crazy things always seem to happen to me! Born in the Bronx, New York, I grew up in Massachusetts where I played hockey, baseball, football, and even boxing. I now teach English at a middle school outside Boston where my students love to hear my 'Mr. Conley' stories - none of which they seem to believe - even though they're all true! The Dead Man Story is my debut novel, the first in a planned trilogy that will follow Myles Walsh through middle school while revealing the many stories that await him. I'm looking forward to connecting to readers and other authors!

message 11735: by Rebe (new)

Rebe James | 3 comments Hello everyone!

Very glad to on board! I am one of those annoying engineers who loves to research and tell the world about all the cool stuff they've learned. I do this now in my writing, weaving amazing and often crazy ideas and postulations into storylines.

Many consider me to be a conspiracy theorist as my research has driven me to conclusions outside the normally accepted thesis of modern academia. I've enjoyed writing all my life, and even wrote a few historical romances in the distant past; but this is my first foray into self publishing an eBook.

I've just released an alternative rendering of a plotline you might be aware of, The Greatest Story Ever Told - Take Two. Yes, that one. It is the first part of new series which spans the timeline from 10 BCE to 70 CE in Palestine, Egypt and the East. It is an alternative fictional novel, a historical romance, which takes into account the similarity of many ancient religions, as well as philosophy, astronomy, and the reasons behind our existence and path to enlightenment.

Anyone interested in receiving a free ecopy in return for providing an honest review, please feel free to send me a message.

The only kind of reading I've ever done was a poetry reading several years ago, so I'm maybe not the best to give advice. But I'll have a go anyway...

It's normal to be nervous if you're not used to getting up in front of people, try to get the audience involved a little if at all possible, and remember that your behaviour in public reflects on you as an author, so be on your absolute best behaviour (no matter how cranky you might be feeling on the day, or how rude that audience member who came up to you just now was, for example). Also, if you stumble over your words, don't panic, but simply continue calmly as if it's no big deal.

I hope that helps. Others might be able to give you better advice, but that's all I have.

Gabriella Francis | 15 comments Hi everyone!! Awesome to meet you all.

I'm a 17-year-old author, I wrote my first book when I was 12, and first got self-published when I turned 15: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Currently I'm working with a traditional publishing house, and was lucky enough to start writing my dream novel with the creative director: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Just recently, I got a sponsor for my books, an actress and director who are interesting in reading the books, and was offered to become a spokesperson and Creative Writing Masters professor after I graduate.
I'm planning on moving to San Francisco for college to study Concept Art for movies, games and books.

It's my dream to touch the hearts of other people and inspire them to find their own path. I want to reach out to as many readers as possible, craft an escape into another world, and create characters that will linger, even after the last page is turned.

I also just released a new website~ www.gabriellabooks.com
