Mark Holborn | 18 comments Hi my name is Mark Holborn, I am an author, my book is featured on goodreads, it is called THE PRICE, it is a historical fantasy, about reincarnation, supernatural time travel from the present to the 13th century. It also touches into the romance & horror genre as well. The Price is my first novel and I have been working hard at finishing its sequel. everything is new to me, the promotion aspect has me completely lost. I am open to all sorts of advice. My goal with joining a group is to absorb that advice as well as getting reviews on my book or to at least get more people aware of my work. Which ultimately is what all authors are looking for.

Alykhan Meghani | 1 comments Hi, my name is Alykhan Meghani and I have just published my debut novel! It's called LOVE IN CHELSEA and is available now on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ED0K4TA

I'm a huge fan of Made In Chelsea and this was the inspiration for my book.

I would really like you all to read it and write a review. The book blurb is below. Happy reading :)

Aidan Khan is a career-minded young professional with lofty ambitions and a stress-free life.

That is, until he meets a Chelsea girl.

Sara Varsi, the daughter of a billionaire property magnate with all the wealth and power that Aidan can only dream of, is trouble. With stunning beauty, charm and a quick wit, she seems at first to be everything that Aidan's always wanted. But beneath her bubbly exterior lies a dark, shady past, a dysfunctional family and a scared little girl who will say anything to get her way.

Opposites attract, but will Aidan Khan really risk his sanity for a shot at Love in Chelsea?

LOVE IN CHELSEA is a modern romance novel which tells of star-crossed lovers from different social classes, whose relationship is complicated by trust issues, dependency and family drama.

I am an author, reader, graphic designer and major marketer of authors' works through obtaining reviews, getting author interviews, getting people on the radio, starting/managing social media, websites, etc. I know what goes into the art of writing so I'd love to help. I also have a sci-fi/dypstopian/romance novel, a short little romance thriller, and a middle grade novel. I like all kinds of genres and enjoy writing all kinds of stuff. I am obsessed with coffee, writing, and dark chocolate. I hope I can meet some new friends!

Ed Morawski | 243 comments Before I dare post anything in the wrong place perhaps Victor or the moderator needs to provide a decoder for what these categories are supposed to mean.

In Paranormal I see a bunch of Fantasy
In Speculative Fiction (??) I see Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and the kitchen sink
In Action/Adventure we have 49 posts of post-apocalyptic - which I always thought was Sci-fi
New Age has Alien Abductions???

If this forum is to be truly useful to authors and readers it has to make some sense.

Hello, I am Tanya and only joined the group yesterday. I like to read when I can (this is diffiuclt for me for the reason explained in my book) although I have very limited time to do so owing to the demands upon me. Nevertheless, I hope to be able to participate in the group on at least a weekly basis if not more frequently.

I have written my autobiography and am in the process of writing more, although again time is, as I believe for most authors, an issue,

I am looking forward to interacting with you all and hearing your news, views and thoughts on a variety of books and upon writing in general.

message 5771: by Renee (new)

Renee | 1 comments Hi, I'm Renee, I just joined now...I mostly just read a lot. I used to write when I was younger but stopped when I graduated high school. I still think about it a lot but am no longer sure what I would even write about. (In high school I wrote about high school, big surprise) One thing I know I still have is a weird sense of humor.

message 5772: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) Hi, everybody. My name is Garrison and I’ve been a writer since 2002. I like to write a little bit of everything from modern fiction to fantasy to heavy metal songs. I’ve never been published before except on Lulu and Deviant Art, which are both do-it-yourself sites. I’ve tried submitting short stories to literary magazines, but no dice. I also wouldn’t know where to begin when it comes to submitting my work to major publishing companies since I don’t have money for an agent. What I hope to get out of joining this group is some exposure and maybe a few lessons on how to attract the attention of top publishing companies. Thanks for allowing me to join this wonderful group!

David Ciccarelli (scifi_writer) Hi all,
My name's Dave. I've been a high school teacher for 10 years and a writer since I was a kid. I love reading sci-fi and that's what I write as well. I recently published a novella on Amazon-- Mesh: The Pioneers. I'd love to hear recommendations for other books, especially scifi.

Pamela Rose (httpbitly1ax8ln0) | 12 comments Welcome Miranda. Well, first of all, I think that lifelong readers really do make better writers...lots of writing skills are acquired vicariously, almost by 'osmosis.'

For me, the biggest difference in my writing output, was when I started treated writing a book like any other job: designated hours to write, without fail. Good luck!

message 5775: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Miranda!! Congratulations on deciding to write your first book!! I just published my first on Kindle last week. It's an erotic romance called Removal of the Guard, by J.C. Lee. Even if it never sells more than 40 copies, I'm so proud of myself for finishing!! Almost gave up a couple times after having a hard drive crash and losing four chapters, but having followed through and finishing it, really is one of the best feelings in the world. What motivated me was knowing I wanted to finish it before my four kids went back to school, knowing that driving to schools, monitoring homework and keeping everyone on track would make it hard for me to focus. I finished with one day to spare. :) Best of luck to you and welcome!

Ken Hughes (kenhughes) | 10 comments Greetings! I'm Ken Hughes, the author who asks the urgent question: "When your supernatural senses are fading and the gangster's lair has the perfect defenses... how do you break in with a box of birdseed and a rock?"

The book is SHADOWED, out on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I love reluctant heroes in contemporary fantasy and paranormal settings, trying to understand the secrets and the powers coiling around their lives. And I like to think that when I ratchet up a scene's action and suspense, I take it further than most.

Looking forward to what comes next!

Philip Whiteland | 12 comments Hi, my name's Philip Whiteland and...I'm an author. There, I've admitted it in public! Gosh I feel so liberated.

I have three books of 'nostalgedy' stories available on Kindle. 'Nostalgedy' is what happens when you cross nostalgia with comedy. I thought about using 'comalgia' but it sounds like something you would need embrocation for. I write an article for our local newspaper here in Derbyshire once a month, and it is these articles, and others, that I collect into the books from time to time. Here are my books:

Steady Past Your Granny's by Philip Whiteland
Crutches For Ducks by Philip Whiteland
A Kick at the Pantry Door by Philip Whiteland

I wrote "Hearts on Fire" - a short novella fireman romance (it's free, and available at the usual venues, so go check it out). My current WIP is a cowboy romance, which will be a full novel.

Currently I'm reading Darynda Jones' "First Grave on the Right," a humorous mystery and the first in her Charley Davidson series. Very much enjoying it!

Waves from Canada! I have been writing forever but new to publishing. I have two books out with a few more in the works. You could self-publish under your own publishing name, i.e., Garrison Media, and establish that as a legal entity for which you would launch your own work through Amazon and Smashwords to get coverage. You could get help from someone like myself who arranges for reviews and such or do that yourself and then you can republish those same works under a larger publishing house once you have networked enough. Doing that will take a lot of networking. You may decide to join some of the networking groups and take part in the discussions (to get your feet wet and break the ice) that I belong to on LinkedIn. Here is my link to my profile. Go ahead a be a troll to see which groups they are, or link to me and I will give you an invite. www.linkedin.com/in/natashacall Like I said, you will need to network a lot to accomplish your goal, but it will all be worth your while.

Jeri A Estes (httpwwwgoodreadscomjeriestes) | 11 comments Like to introduce myself and share this new review with you. Advocate Review: Stilettos and Steel by Jeri Estes In a novel based on her true story, Jeri Estes takes us to the 1960s in San Francisco's red-light Tenderloin district, the original gay ghetto before the Castro. Estes's ingénue, Jesse, leaves her suburban town to make a name for herself, only to fall into prostitution in the gritty Tenderloin. With over-the-top characters, witty dialogue, and funny situations, the intensity of the world in which she takes the reader will be sure to entertain and educate. Populated with hookers, butch pimps, ringers, feminine tricks, and more, this book is a guaranteed guilty pleasure. A must-read!

Hi Everyone!

I am Courtney Cross, a new Indie Author of Erotic Romance Novel 'Barely Surviving' which is available on Smashwords, Amazon, B&N, Apple etc. This is the first in a series of novels depicting the relationship between a deliciously hot alpha male and a beautiful but damaged strong willed female.

I would love to look for an agent and publisher but have loved the self publishing experience and from the feedback I am receiving, my book is appealing just as it is.

I am a 36 year old mother of three boys with a love of all things naughty, spicy and scorching hot!

Scott Skipper | 49 comments To answer Patricia's question about Smashwords, it is a great place to publish. They will convert your manuscript to all of the eBook formats and distribute it to about six major retailers, including Barnes & Noble and ITunes. They are very easy to work with and charge you nothing. I have had better luck with Smashwords than with Amazon.

Oh, by the way, I'm Scott Skipper and I write historical fiction.
