Wait...huh? A Kirkus reviewer, not only appointed themselves as the spokesman for the gay community but also criticized your work because your character did not behave as the reviewer would like the character to behave? If that's correct, give the review the weight it deserves. (The weight of its ashes.)

David Chill (usciceman) | 11 comments Hello everyone,

My name is David Chill, and I am the author of two mystery novels, Post Pattern and Fade Route.

Both books feature a private detective named Burnside, a former USC football star. Burnside was an LAPD officer for 13 years until a scandal forced him to leave the department and start his own agency.

Post Pattern is a novel which is about the murder of a college football player from a rival university. Fade Route is centered around the murder of a local politician. In both stories the plot is complex, the suspects are many and the humor is biting.

Please check them out on the kindle store at Amazon.com, I hope you enjoy them!

Cheers,

David

That's crazy! If you wrote about a nun or a priest who chose to be "sexless," or about a woman or man from the "prostitution community" the reviewer would not chastise you. Would it be bigotry if your character refused to befriend someone because of their social standing or their lack of wealth? Fiction is fiction. It should be judged as fiction.

I am relatively new. Having spent the last few days poking around I am amazed by the information here.

I am a new author with one book listed here and another on the way. I write erotica which is a genre that may not be for everyone.

I look forward to learning the ropes and getting involved in the community.

William (wdcinla) | 4 comments Hello to other writers and readers. I recently published a novel based on an award-winning short film I also wrote and directed by the same title, Remnant Truths. It's a Thriller/SciFi that falls into the New Adult genre (elements of Romance and protagonists who are older than 18). Other than writing, I work in the emerging entertainment startup scene here in L.A., which by Silicon Valley standards is quite small, but it's been interesting to see the gradual acceptance in the industry to online content.

Christina George (christinageorge) | 16 comments Hi there, I'm excited to be a part of this group. My name is Christina George and I'm a recent author but have worked in publishing for many years. I currently work at a New York house. My book, The Publicist (Book One) is about guess what... tada New York publishing. It's a blend of romance and comedy (because you know, publishing can be ridiculous at times). I am an avid reader of romance but I love books in general. My dream? To get locked in a bookstore overnight. :-)

Wendy Joyce (httpwwwgoodreadscomwendy_joyce) | 18 comments Hi Folks,
I joined the discussions last week, but I never introduced myself. Sooo, HI! I'm Wendy Joyce, author of The Anomaly. A small, green Soul messes up in her 10th life, which pitches Haven and Hades into war. Her choices in her 12th life will determine the war's victor.
Despite the afterlife theme, the story is unchained from religious dogmas and from morality lessons they tend to teach. But I was told that an afterlife theme should address values and morality, explore ideas of right and wrong, and confirm concepts of good and evil. Well, whose idea of right & wrong? Whose concepts? [But that's a different argument] In any event, that's not The Anomaly...and I wouldn't want its afterlife theme to mislead anyone.
It's a hefty book, so I uploaded a hefty excerpt--14 chapters--on Goodreads, though I'm not certain where it shows up. (I'm new at social-networking...or social-anything, in fact.) Maybe it's linked to my Goodreads page. (I haven't quite figured out that page either, but I have had fun with the blog.)
Regardless...HI EVERYONE!

Wendy Joyce The Anomaly

Hi Natasha!

Post Pattern has done okay. It was published in February, so am still trying to promote it. Yes, the reviews on Amazon have been extremely positive.

Fade Route was just published this weekend -- I have high hopes!

Vincent, I succeeded in posting my book with the cover art work, yes! but, now how do I delete the one without the cover artwork? I tried but could not find the right page for deleting a posted book; also, it gave me trouble about the ISN numbers; said they were all ready taken? I posted without them
