Jason Newman | 77 comments Hi Everyone,

I've recently written How To Control Your Alcohol Consumption

It includes the physical and biological impact of alcohol in the body, types of alcoholics and stages of abuse, the dangers of overconsumption to ourselves and others, the profiles of day versus night drinkers, boundaries, redirection of where to reach, getting help, therapy and recovery, and what the future may look like for those who choose to change.

Thanks

Kurt Lopez-davis

Hello! I have a 413 IQ, and this is my book - 413 IQ Thinking: My Best Thoughts. Please consider buying it. It has all of my best thoughts. #1, #2, and #16 are my favorites. I would say I am the world's smartest man. The average person can only run 1/4 of their brain from a 123 IQ, or 153 IQ at max. I had an 81 IQ point run from 332 IQ, so the thinking is a little different.

Thank you for your time!

Lester Fisher | 215 comments I amnot exactly sure what you are suggesting Amelia, so I am just going to give you my web page and blog to peruse

www.LesterFisher.com.

I appreciate this opportunity to consider non-fiction as a genre. In my case biography/memoir. I consider it almost a duty to leave a record of our lives, if for not other reason, than to let the succeeding generations understand who we were, the good, the bad, and even the ugly.

My generation was profoundly impacted by wars and extreme changes in technology mostly stimulated by those wars. Imagine, there was a time when we had home phones and telephone booths. If you wanted to communicate, you had to wait until the party was at the other end of the line!

Although my latest book is a novel, it is based on research and real events during WWII. (I’ll be guided by the group administrators on whether this is appropriate to post here).
Sailor’s Heart (ISBN 9781527254824).

Summary: Three men fought for their country in the Arctic convoys, then for their sanity and dignity, labelled as cowards and subjected to experimental psychiatry by the British Admiralty.
This is their story.

Devoney Looser (devoneylooser) Hi, Non-fiction readers and authors!

I've got a work of narrative non-fiction, Sister Novelists: Jane and Anna Maria Porter in the Age of Austen, coming out in September 2022 from Bloomsbury. This week is the cover reveal, and September 6th is the publication date. I've been working on this book for almost 20 years, and the fascinating, once-famous Porter sisters have been waiting for the biography they deserve for 170 years.

The book's description, and a link for pre-ordering, is on my website, devoney.com. Here's the Goodreads link to Sister Novelists, if you'd like to add it to your want to read pile.

I'd love your thoughts about who might appreciate knowing about the book or any ideas you might have about where to connect with communities here who care about biography, British literary history, and the history of strong women.

I'm looking forward to hearing from authors and readers about other titles coming out in 2002.

Sincerely,
Devoney

Kayleen Reusser On February 14, 2022, I released 'Born to be Soldiers: Those Plucky Women of World War II.'

This book brings a different perspective to the nine other World War II books I have published following my interviews with 260 World War II veterans.

https://amzn.to/3HNZgHP

'Born to be Soldiers, Those Plucky Women of World War II' is a compilation of stories from 13 women, all of whom I interviewed.

The women served in the following military branches: Army, Army Air Corp, Coast Guard and the Navy.

One was an Army nurse and is the only one still living at 100 years old.

These women are inspirational at a time when we need good role models of sacrificial living, patriotism, hard work ethic and belief in oneself.

This and my other titles are available on Amazon.

In the last two years I’ve spoken to groups virtually in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana on a variety of programs related to World War II.

To learn more about these presentations, and/or to book me for a speaking event, visit my website at www.KayleenReusser.com.

Thanks to all of the vets and their families reading this for your service to our country.

Romeo Vitelli | 1 comments My nme is Romeo Vitelli. I am a forensic psychologist and author qnd I am pleased to announce that my new book True Crime Stories You Won't Believe: A Cavalcade of Chaotic Justice is finally out on Amazon (Kindle and  paperback).

This book is a compilation of  some of the true crime stories posted on my Providentia blog, revised and updated, that defy simple description.

They include:

The strange tale of a psychotic geisha who severed her lover’s genitals to carry as a token of her love and who inspired a cult following
How a small-town murderer helped inspire the movie Psycho and left his hometown with a reputation they never lived down
A father who sacrificed his daughter to prove his faith in God and his followers who fully expected her to be raised on the third day (she wasn’t)
A Sorbonne graduate student who killed and cannibalized the woman he loved and went on to become a bizarre media celebrity
A 19th century serial killer who earned the title of “the worst woman in the world” by killing a series of husbands for profit
The assassination attempt on John F. Kennedy you never heard about but which very nearly succeeded.
George Stinney, the fourteen-year-old child who died in the electric chair for a crime he didn’t commit.
Joseph Vacher, the “French Ripper” whose crimes shocked France but tried to blame it all on the rabid dog that bit him.
How mob boss Vincent Gigante earned himself the nickname of “the Oddfather”
Leonarda Cianciulli, the Corregio “Soapmaker” who killed three women as a sacrifice to protect her own children.

These stories, and more, are all featured here making this book a must for any connoisseur of true crime and bizarre justice.   And a great gift idea with Mother's day coming up (or not).   For now, it's available for free on Kindle Unlimited and I'd really appreciate some honest reviews from any of my readers.   Contact me directly if you'd like a free epub version for examination and to review for your own blog or web page.  I hope to do an entire series of Providentia books in time so keep an eye out for future titles.

Frēda Drake (fredadrake) | 4 comments Hi! I'm a national publicist. I repeatedly had authors and small business owners tell me that their campaigns were going nowhere fast. I realized there was a desperate need to educate everyone on what publicity is, what it does, and how to get it. Here's the backcover summary:

Did your last publicity campaign go nowhere? Are your marketing efforts disappointing? Is your sales team out of step with your marketing team?

All too often, business owners and CEOs invest in publicity campaigns that produce lackluster results. How can you make sure that doesn't happen to you? Wouldn't it be great if there was a simple, easy to read guidebook that explained how to create a truly effective campaign?

Worry no more because the book you're holding-Publicity on Steroids-is the one you've been hoping for.

For years, marketing and publicity expert Frēda Drake repeatedly heard, "I don't know if I can trust your firm because the last one I worked with let us down; the campaign they created went nowhere." After hearing that more than once, Frēda decided to write a book-this book-one that teaches you how to create an effective publicity campaign, and how to use it properly in your marketing and sales efforts.

Publicity on Steroids is a useful guidebook for business owners and professionals at every level of marketing experience, from novice to seasoned campaign director. It provides the basic strategies and information you need to conduct an effective media campaign yourself, or, if you choose to hire experts, it teaches you what to look for, and how to acquire the proper talent.

This no-nonsense book includes numerous examples of what to do, along with cautionary tales, so you can avoid the common pitfalls that plague most publicity campaigns.

In Publicity on Steroids, you'll find no trendy jargon or hard-to-understand passages. Instead, Frēda draws upon decades of her own experience and the knowledge of many seasoned colleagues, providing clear guidance that will be your roadmap to success.

You can get this book through any major bookseller. Categories: Publicity, Marketing, Social Media, etc.

Thanks!

Frēda

Ilise Carter | 3 comments Hi! Just popping in to introduce myself and my nonfiction book, The
Red Menace: How Lipstick Changed the Face of American History.

https://www.lipstickbook.com/

In America, lipstick is the foundation of empires; it’s a signature of identity; it’s propaganda, self-expression, oppression, freedom, and rebellion. It’s a multi-billion-dollar industry and one of our most iconic accessories of gender. This engaging and entertaining history of lipstick from the colonies to the present will give readers a new view of the little tube’s big place in modern America from defining the middle class to building Fortune 500 businesses to being present at Stonewall and being engineered for space travel.
Lipstick has served as both a witness and a catalyst to history; it went to war with women, it gave women of color previously unheard-of business opportunities, and was part of the development of celebrity and mass media. In the Twentieth Century alone, lipstick evolved from a beauty secret for a select few to a required essential for well turned-out women but also a mark of rock ‘n’ roll rebellion and a political statement.
How has this mainstay of the makeup kit remained relevant for over a century? Beauty journalist Ilise S. Carter suggests that it’s because the simple lipstick says a lot. From the provocative allure of a classic red lip to the powerful statement of drag, the American love affair with lipstick is linked to every aspect of our experience of gender, from venturing into the working world or running for the presidency. The Red Menace will capture all of those dimensions, with a dishy dose of fabulosity that makes it a must-read for lipstick’s fiercest disciples, its harshest critics, and everyone in between.
About the Author
ILISE S. CARTER is freelance writer, consulting copywriter to the beauty industry, and sideshow performer based in New York City. She has written for Allure, New York Times, Racked, Wall Street Journal, and others, with a focus on pop culture. In addition, she’s spent over a decade as a consulting copywriter for beauty brands such as Shiseido, bliss, Laura Mercier, Avon, L’Oréal, and Madame CJ Walker, specializing in brand voice and identity. As her stage persona, The Lady Aye, she has worked as professional sideshow performer (sword swallower, fire eater, blockhead, and pain-proof girl) and MC with acts ranging from Rob Zombie to Cirque du Soleil, and has appeared on TV’s Gossip Girl, Oddities, The President Show, Mysteries at the Museum and Dickinson. Carter holds a BA in American Studies from Barnard College at Columbia University and a Certificate in Film Production from NYU.

Juan Álvarez My new book is available for pre-order at a 50% discount

https://www.amazon.com/REVIEW-EQUATIO...

I have written an unusual book. It is a book in response to another book. I read Michio Kaku's "The God Equation" out of curiosity and my nonsense detector went off. I wrote a traditional review here

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

But this review does not do justice to my ordeal while reading "The God Equation". So I wrote a long review in book format.

In my 166-page book, I expand on the above criticisms and explain in detail how string theory has become a theory that cannot explain anything, but is unfairly promoted in the media. Physicist Peter Woit refers to The Guardian's promotion of Kaku's latest book as "complete, unadulterated bull····", while physicist Sabine Hossenfelder complains that The Guardian is publishing "utter nonsense".

In my book you can find advanced technical details about physics and mathematics topics, an accurate overview of the history of physics, a list of references to modern textbooks and journal articles, and some fun facts like the $1000 bet Kaku lost because the LHC did not discovered what he claimed the LHC should have found.

String theory was born as a genuine but unsuccessful research attempt to explain hadrons and the strong interaction, but as I explain in the conclusions of my book, string theory has degenerated into the biggest scam in physics!

Rebecca Rolland | 1 comments Hi all! I'd love to introduce my book to you and am curious to hear your feedback.

My book, The Art of Talking with Children (HarperOne, 2022), is a hybrid memoir/guidebook that chronicles my journey as a mother, Harvard lecturer, and speech pathologist to understand the power of meaningful conversations with kids--and the strategies we can use to have them. I've heard that this book has been especially helpful for teachers/therapists/clinicians as well as parents, relatives, and caregivers.

More about the book is below. Thanks very much for your consideration!

It is available at:
https://www.amazon.com/Art-Talking-Ch...

Best,
Rebecca Rolland

"I know we did a lot,” I said to my husband, Philippe, after we’d finished putting our two kids to bed. “But what did we talk about?” We sat in our Boston apartment at the close of a busy weekend. The question was simple. But for me--a speech pathologist and education lecturer--it was anything but. I'd spent ten years researching and teaching about the power of deep conversations with kids, in building their kindness, confidence, and creativity, but I realized my own family was failing at the very thing I had devoted my career to.

This recently published book, THE ART OF TALKING WITH CHILDREN: The Simple Keys to Nurturing Kindness, Creativity, and Confidence in Kids (HarperOne; 3/1/22) is both a memoir and guidebook that provides readers with evidence-based tools and techniques to communicate more effectively with children in ways that let them foster relationships with less conflict and more joy and kindness. In this book, I show how quality communication—or “rich talk”—can help build the skills and capacities children need to thrive.

THE ART OF TALKING WITH CHILDREN has been sold to nine international territories, including China, Spain/Latin America, and Korea. Library Journal said, "Readers of such volumes as How To Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk will find further help here in developing strong relational communication."

I am a lecturer at Harvard University. As a nationally certified speech-language pathologist, I have worked clinically with populations ranging from early childhood through high school and provided teacher professional development.

5 Stars review:

A well written book with organized content, Thriving in Higher Education Careers is an excellent resource to keep on your shelf and re-visit at least every four years. While our careers may change, the process of professionalism does not. When you are trying to stay the course, this book can certainly help put you on that path. I read Thriving in Higher Education Careers years ago and in 2022, I was astonished how my connection with the information had deepened, taking on a different perspective because I am now in a different season of my life.

Jennifer Fraser | 2 comments My book The Bullied Brain: Heal Your Scars and Restore Your Health came out in April. I was thrown into an abuse crisis and slowly but surely came to realize:

A. We know little to nothing about our brains.
B. Brains get damaged by bullying and abuse.
C. Neuroscientists can see this damage on brain scans.
D. Our brains are amazing at repair and recovery when we know what evidence-based practices to do.

I have a PhD in Comparative Literature and am an award-winning teacher. My last book "Teaching Bullies" was a best-seller on Amazon and so when I made my discoveries, I of course felt compelled to teach the empowering and inspiring brain info to everyone.

If you are interested in reading the book, I'd appreciate a review if you like it and have time.

THANKS Jennifer Fraser

Why America goes to these nations in the middle east or Africa is to loot the mineral wealth and this is done by stealth force and strategy. There are names of locations with maps this time around, actual dates to indicate the relevant time periods, in order to avoid the tale sounding more like fiction.
In addition, I have put down a list of characters and family tree to make for exciting reading.

RELEASED - Just released my new nonfiction true crime book:
CHARLES MANSON’S CULT GIRLS

Charles Manson was the wild-eyed, scraggly-haired Dark Prince of the 1960s. Manson was the demon-hippie, psycho-serial-killer-by-proxy of the Woodstock era who sent his “Manson Family” of fanatical, cult-crazed robots out to commit multiple homicides in the mansions of Los Angeles.

Charles Manson, an alarming, terrifying paradox, was one of the most dangerous serial killers in the American history of crime. Dr. Dawson conducted a series of interviews with Charles Manson, the poster boy for killer-cult leaders, incarcerated in San Quentin State Prison, in September 1988.

The focus of this book is on the psychology of the Manson Family, bios of the Manson Family women and girls, the Manson Family crimes, and Dr. Dawson & Charles Manson’s prison interviews.

He has also done numerous podcast shows as a guest discussing numerous topics including organized crime, politics, his autobiography and all his books.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) have been rivals even before ATF entered the Department of Justice (DOJ) in 2003. The FBI mindset has always been they are the tip of the spear and should be running all major investigations while perceiving ATF and other agencies as smaller and not at their caliber. The FBI has over 35,000 employees according to their website while ATF has slightly over 5,000 employees. ATF is a very specialized federal agency mainly dealing with federal firearms violations, explosives, and to a lesser degree with alcohol trafficking and tobacco diversion while the FBI deals with an array of violations from counter-terrorism, espionage, white collar investigations, public corruption and other federal violations.

ATF was in formed in 1972 in the Department of Treasury while the FBI was formed in 1908 in the Department of Justice with both agencies having their fair share of scandals and turf battles over major cases in the United States. Both have been portrayed in movies, TV shows, documentaries and all over the internet. This is the rivalry of David vs. Goliath within the DOJ, the history and battles of both agencies in American law enforcement.

Fragile Minds: An Advocate’s Story
by Diane Lane Chambers

Why are we having so many mass shootings, and why is it that the perpetrators always seem have a history of mental illness?

In this memoir, Diane Lane Chambers searches for a deeper understanding of mental illness and those who suffer from it, sharing details of her own struggle with anxiety and depression while working as a sign language interpreter in psychiatric facilities. Along the way, she comes to realize that it is our faulty laws that are partly to blame for these shootings and other unspeakable violence by persons with untreated serious mental illness. Determined to stop these tragic events, her solution is to get involved and become an advocate. The result is an impactful story in which mental health professionals and families dealing with the mental illness of a loved one can find inspiration and hope.

Available on Amazon in paperback or Kindle ebook. https://www.amazon.com/Fragile-Minds-...

William Turner (wbtphdjd) Hello. Here is my new book, The GOP Will Not Govern. It offers a historical explanation of how the Republican Party got to its current, parlous state. Republican officials exhibit zero interest in pursuing policies that would help their constituents.
