Wendy Hey, did you hear that Lisa See has a new book out?

Nancy Is that Peony In Love? I'd like to read another of her books since I so enjoyed Snow Flower.

Ruthann Dornfeld Peony in love was pretty good

Asya I absolutely loved "Peony in Love". I can't decide which of her books I love more. I was sad when it ended because I love Lisa See's writing.

Nichelle Both books were carried around in my hands everyhwere I went while reading them. No doubt Lisa See is an excellent storyteller. Between the two of them, though, Snowflower was my favorite, probably because of the difficulty in following the Chinese (or ancient Chinese) beliefs in the afterlife. It was totally foreign to me. I had heard about footbinding so that was not as shocking to me as the Blood Lake, hungry ghosts, dotted ancestor tablets, and ghost marriages.

Gloria Snow Flower was enthusiastically recommended by a bunch of "librarians in training" (like me). I just loved it. Rich writing. Reminded me of my own very first "best friend" and my great "best friend" now and my college-age daughter who gets the title, "Best Friend Forever."
