Zay This book is A Long Way Gone by Ishmeal Beah. I read this book from around February to late March with the class. The main theme in this novel is friendship. To me the theme was friendship because what he went through with his friends. He had to watch some of his own friends die. Along the way he gained more friends and the bonds between them were always strong. "Things changed rapidly in a matter of seconds and no one had any control over anything. We had yet to learn these things and implement survival tactics, which was what it came down to." This is when his world was being rapidly turned upside down. In only a matter of months he finds himself in the middle of a war. I really liked this book and would most definitely recommend this book to others.

Brady It is a tragic story, but one also of redemption and healing. I would recommend it to anyone who thinks their life is hard.
