James Murphy (gracehoper) | 2 comments Well, a tough one. I'd say it's "XX" from Neruda's Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair. Tomorrow another might be my favorite.

Are you referring to "Sonnet XX?" Here are a few lines:

Sonnet XX
-Pablo Neruda

My ugly love, you’re a messy chestnut.
My beauty, you are as pretty as the wind.
Ugly: your mouth is big enough for two mouths.
Beauty: your kisses are as fresh as new melons.

James Murphy (gracehoper) | 2 comments No, it's the XX from the collection Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair. Pretty well known. It opens:

Tonight I can write the saddest songs.

Write, for example, "The night is story
and the stars are blue and shiver in the distance.:

The night wind revolves in the story and sings.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.

And it goes on there for another 26 lines., 13 couplets. Actually, the collection itself is delicious, but it's this one I wrote down.

That's great. I would have to look for it then. Thanks for sharing.
