I wouldn't say I have a favorite author, and if I did try to limit it down, this probably wouldn't exactly be it. *BUT,* Jacqueline Carey is for sure my favorite guiltless pleasure.
I'd have to say that I liked the Kushiel series better than this. The characters felt better fleshed out, and you can feel at times that maybe Carey is a little bit tired of the world she's created. At the same time, these are still fun, rollicking adventurous romances, and I always end up surprisingly touched by the morals of her stories.

Three stars.
