ABANDONED. Historical Romance from the 90's - Green Cover

I bought a book at Sam's club in the early to mid-90's. It was a romance that took place in a different historical point in time. It involved a girl/young woman who was poor and maybe mistreated by society. A wealthy, well-liked man ends up helping her out and they fall in love. I believe there was a scene with them both in a wagon hiding out. I am nearly positive that the book had a light green cover, but can't remember what was on the front. Please help!
