Kaje Harper | 16510 comments So the month got away from me but... it's time to pick an author for May:

Authors must have released at least 2 YA LGBT downloadable or paper books or short stories. Please include the following:

Author name - Ideally with a link on Goodreads or to their page elsewhere

2 or more relevant book titles of theirs - ideally link on Goodreads - just titles needed, although you can add a little description if you like

Why this author? - at least one sentence about why you picked this author for the poll. (Authors please do not nominate yourselves.)

A maximum of 12 nominations will be posted per month. We will vote on one author to discuss. Lets see if we can help each other find new favorites.

This month's nominations are open through April 30 midnight EST.

Poll posted - vote through May 4 - https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...

Kaje Harper | 16510 comments I was going to nominate Bill Konigsberg, but I think I'll wait since "The Porcupine of Truth" doesn't come out till the end of the month.

Nomination: Malinda Lo

Books:Ash - "The day that Ash meets Kaisa, the King's Huntress, her heart begins to change. Instead of chasing fairies, Ash learns to hunt with Kaisa. Though their friendship is as delicate as a new bloom, it reawakens Ash's capacity for love-and her desire to live. But Sidhean has already claimed Ash for his own, and she must make a choice between fairy tale dreams and true love."

Inheritance - Reese and David are different now. Surrounded by a web of conspiracies, Reece feels that she must choose between two worlds.
Her choices: David - or Amber? This world - or another? Should they tell the truth, and risk everything?

Malinda Lo is consistently mentioned as a top favorite author for YA LGBT Fantasy

Mel (melleach) Nomination: Mia Kerick
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Books: Not Broken, Just Bent - Coming of Age
The Red Sheet - Anti-bullying theme
Us Three - M/M/M (Surviving Abuse)
Intervention - Surviving Abuse
Come To My Window - F/F
Inclination - Being Gay & Christian

I nominate Mia Kerick because she is a prolific author whose YA books have won a variety of awards and found their place on many recommended reading lists. She has shown her tremendous versatility as a YA author by not shying away from the tough topics as she writes her way all across the rainbow. http://miakerick.com/books/young-adult/
