Thanks for the invitation Rick.
I'm Georgina. I love reading, I write Gothic Fantasy and Fairy Tales and I'm also a visual artist (photomedia based).
This group looks interesting.

Georgina, take a look at The Ballad of Young Tam Lin on Kindle (you can read the first 3 chapters free using the "look inside" feature). Different from what you write, but you might find it a fun read.

Funny story, I have never had writers block. I never start writing anything that isn't already finished in my head."

Me neither, but when I try to force things to my predetermined plan, things that are destined to go another way, it all dries up. I have to do something else, clean out the chook house, go for a walk, do some research, when I've come around to the new way, it flows again.

Amy Lichtenhan | 1 comments Hi Everyone! I just wanted to thank Rick for the invitation to join The James Mason Community Book Club! I write contemporary romance and also am the co-owner of a small press. I love to read most anything as long as it has a semblance of a happy ending, but romances are always my favorite.

Pulled by Amy Lichtenhan Pulled is a contemporary romance with a supernatural flare about fate, written for those who want an intense love story while knowing everything will work out in the end. http://amzn.to/q3l3qP

Take This Regret by Amy Lichtenhan Take This Regret is a dramatic romance about betrayal, regret, and love's ultimate road to forgiveness. http://amzn.to/TakeThisRegret

Excited to meet and chat with new friends! Thanks again for the invitation.

Time to relax with a good book. There seem to be a few to choose from that are NOT Twilight Hunger. OMG, what a title!!! I can clean up! Now, if only I had an original idea, and talent as a writer. Wait! I don't need that, do I?

Twilight Hunger? Another one? I like my vampires (and I'm getting very tired of them) angst ridden and a little creepy. The whole sparkly, deer eating thing just doesn't do it for me.

Lol. You guys are funny! I used to be a very big Twilight fan... Then, idk what happened. I guess I got tired of the hype.

I really enjoy a good vampire and werewolf story... but I prefer angels and demons and things of that sort. Come to think of it, I guess that's why I write about it. lol

So what is out right now as far as a good read? I feel the urge to curl up with a good story. Any suggestions?

Okay, Y, here's my contribution - The Ballad of Young Tam Lin, by Patricia Leslie. https://www.createspace.com/3661637, or preview the first 3 chapters free on Kindle, "look inside." Fantasy romance, great plotting, memorable characters, humor, sensitive sexuality (nothing graphic), jeopardy, and stakes far above the personal level. First book of a series.

Jan (goodreadsjanbrown) | 1 comments Hi I just love to read! Used to get in trouble in school for reading library books during class time! I'm retired so have more time to read these days. I am related to Michael Crichton, he was noted in the family tree book that my great grandma Crichton had as to having recently put out Andromeda Strain at the time I found out we were related Crichtons! Never did get to meet him though. I said to myself to remember this guy, he just might be famous someday! ;) I'm into a lot of genre's but I don't care much for vampires or zombies or sci fi/fantasies that are way too imaginative. Give me something Twilight Zone/Hitchcock ish and I'm happy in that line of story telling.

Jeffrey Jude (jeffreyjude) Thanks for the invite Rick.

Hello everyone!

My name is Jeffrey Jude. In a nutshell, i am a new author with wolves who loves hiking in the jungles and mountains, great conversation, books, films, good friends and wine. I tend to go for fantasy, paranormal, anything bigger than life... I guess i need more than the ususal to be entertained!

My debut "book" is The Disciples of Goedric, A Trilogy that was released October 11th for Coming Out Day.

It beings with Book I: Gay Gene Rising which sets the stage for an epic tale that weaves together the past, the present and the future, exploring the very nature of what it means to be gay and uncovering a 2,700 year old conspiracy to demonize and exterminate every last gay person on earth.

In Book II: Guardians of the Blood, a small group of friends flee Chicago for the remote mountains of mexico in a frantic effort to escape the Lords of Yoshiyahu and to save young Etan, a young man of 19 who is tortured by fits and hallucinations and who, if prophecies are to be believed, is the key to the future of Mankind.

In Book III: SoulFire & Tears, a forgotten past is propelled 2,700 years into the future by Judea-the-Just and Ruth-the-Raven-Haired, the ancient and powerful progenetors of the modern day gay race... And the very universe holds its breath as the yolk of all powers stirs in its sleep for the first time since the dawn of creation.

Anyway, that's the story in a nutshell. There is a bit more about me and my books on my amazon author page:

http://www.amazon.com/author/jude

My modest website is:

Abrazos a todos!

Jeffrey

Hi, Eleesha and Lizzy!

message 4344: by [deleted user] (new)

Anyone out there able to delineate the borders of "paranormal" for me? How does it differ from fantasy? (Okay, I sound stupid, but the genre use is obviously different from the linguistic use, and the word itself is of fairly recent coinage, so . . . help!)

message 4345: by [deleted user] (new)

This is what I could find on wikipedia (note is says Paranormal romance, is that the same thing?):

'Paranormal romance is a literary subgenre of the romance novel. A type of speculative fiction, paranormal romance focuses on romance and included elements beyond the range of scientific explanation, blending together themes from the genres of traditional fantasy, science fiction, or horror.'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranorm...

message 4346: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks. Using the much reviled Twilight as a prototype, I had the impression that an element of creepy darkness was a required ingredient. So, Patricia Leslie's, The Ballad of Young Tam Lin (a mortal girl, an Elven Queen, and a knight [but is he human or elf?]) qualifies. Hooray!
(For a free sample, go to "look inside" on the Kindle version. No Kindle required.)
