Sophie (sophie_perinot) | 5 comments Hi All –

I write historical fiction. My debut novel (the story of a pair of 13th Century sisters who became the queens of England and France) will be released by NAL in March 2012. I am delighted to be a part of the group :)

Greg Cummings (gorillaland) | 2 comments I'm here, keeping it imaginative in the heart of Africa, trying to launch a career as a novelist. My book Gorillaland: A Jungle Odyssey is due out sometime soon. Can't bear the waiting, like being in prolonged labour (I can only imagine). I'm reading some very heavy-duty literature at the moment, as research for my next novel, set in Somalia. How to conjure up an entertaining antidote to that failed-state scenario... It's going to be tough. Anyway, nice to talk to you peeps.

Joseph Badal (badalbooksgmailcom) | 37 comments I would really appreciate your assistance in getting the word out about my blog, Everyday Heroes, at http://www.joseph badal.wordpress.com. I write about people and organizations that have made a difference for the better. And I even include animals in my list of heroic subjects (see my 12/1/11 blog coming soon).
Please read it, subscribe to it, and then forward it on.
Thank you,

Whitebeard Books Hello James Masonites! WhiteBeardBooks is a very new retail book/audiobook/art store online. We are affiliated with a company that owns two publishing imprints, a studio that specializes in visual art, particularly cover art for books and recordings and audio art which will in the very near future be doing audio books, music for book trailers and background or that classic elevator music for websites.

I'm here on GR to meet writers, publishers, independents in almost any area of the arts who will share ideas about what you'd like to see available to you in your many incarnations that we might be able to offer. I'm looking forward to getting to know more about the group and the individuals in it.

Marsha Cornelius (marshacornelius) Thanks for the invite, Rick. I'm a big reader of most genres. Not much into vampires and supernatural, but just about everything else.

I live in Atlanta, Georgia. (Actually out in the country near the city.)

My first novel, H10 N1 was published in May, 2011. H10 N1 It has a 5-star rating on Amazon, and also got 5-stars from Midwest Book Review recently. Very exciting!

I love talking about books, but must rein in my tongue to keep from giving away 'spoilers'. Just sayin'. H10N1 by M. R. Cornelius

Cherie Noel (cherienoel) | 6 comments I can't believe I've been at Goodreads for over a year now and just found this group... Heh. Better late than never.
My name is Cherie Noel, and I'm an author/reader/mom...but not necessarily in that order. Mostly mom stuff comes first and then I work on the rest. I have two works published so far, both M/M romance, am working on a YA sci-fi series with my daughter, and have several M/F romances in the works. I used to be a full time nurse, but an injury from my time as an active duty soldier worsened to the point that I could no longer perform the duties required of a floor nurse.
Luckily for me, I discovered that I took true joy in writing stories to entertain and inform others, and ta-da, a new career was born.
The Soldier & the State Trooper (The Soldier and..., #1) by Cherie Noel
The Soldier & the State Trooper, pictured above, was my first contracted work. It just came out this past August and I'm still pretty giddy about the whole thing.

Richard (bufti) | 1 comments Hello.
I'm Richard, a 46 year old conservationist/student and am always reading something. I have to read at night before I can get to sleep.
I read all sorts of books, but mostly thrillers/crime, with history, natural history, science fiction, science, fiction, humour and many others thrown in.
I'm looking forward to participating in discussions and arguments!
Good reading!

Joseph Badal (badalbooksgmailcom) | 37 comments Welcome, Richard. You might like my latest thriller, Evil Deeds, which is based on the kidnapping of our son in Greece, and is the prequel to Terror Cell and The Nostradamus Secret (all part of the Bob Danforth series).

Marsha Cornelius (marshacornelius) SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS.

Self-published authors definitely fall into this catagory. If you have a friend or family member who likes to read, consider getting them a book for Christmas or Hannukkah from an Indie bookstore or right here on goodreads.

Not sure they'll like the book? Nearly all authors are offering sample chapters these days, so check out what's available, and

SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS.

Tony R. (tallguytony) | 1 comments Hello all,

My name is Tony and recently joined Goodreads a couple of weeks ago. I have recently gotten into m/m romance novels after spending a couple of years reading the Harry Potter series over and over again (I think I finally burned myself out). I was on a James Patterson kick for a while, but quickly got burnt out on that also.

I am 28 and live in Nashville, TN.

Have you met Cherie? She's an M/M writer. (See her book The Soldier and the State Trooper above!!)

message 4178: by Libbie Hawker (new)

Libbie Hawker (L.M. Ironside) (lmironside) | 3 comments Well hello there.

I am still trying to figure out what James Mason has to do with books in general and this group specifically, but James Mason was awesome and maybe that's enough. Plus, I love the austerity of the all-caps theme. It doesn't come across as uncouth yelling to me. It comes across as VIRILE CONFIDENCE and GOOD-NATURED BLUSTER (where virile can be applied to ladies, too.)

I'm Lavender. I do write, and if you're curious about that you can click on my name and take a look, but first and foremost I'm a reader. I will read anything that catches my interest, but I tend to go mostly for literary fiction, historical fiction, and sci-fi.

Glad to be here! Looking forward to meeting more rad Goodreads people.

Michelle Birbeck (michellebirbeck) | 6 comments Hi!
I'm Michelle Birbeck, a UK writer. I write shorty stories in the horror genre for Pocket Novel Publishing, and full length Paranormal/Historical novels for The Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House.

My first short story, Consequences, is out now, which is very exciting, as it's my first published piece of work.

I'm pretty much always reading or writing. I'm a collector of signed books, too, and I adore all of Richard Laymon's work.

lol- WELCOME Lavender and all our new members!

As far as James Mason goes..when I started the group a little over two years ago, I decided to name it in memory of my favorite actor- James Mason- and I do know for a fact that Mr. Mason was a quiet man, who between takes, while making films, could be counted on to be found by himself, reading a book :>))
