Hi Jan, welcome to the group. I'm from Fort Worth, Texas, but have traveled through Missouri many times. I write western romances and have hosted a popular blog series about that genre. Several talented authors and readers contributed. Please stop by if you have time and check out their articles. http://texasdruids.blogspot.com/

Hi. I'm a new member as well. Thanks for inviting me, Rick! I'm looking forward to being a part of the group.I'm really interested in what Frederick said:
Yep, though no one has ever drawn a clear boundary between where multitasking ends and ADD begins, have they?
I've been wondering for a long time whether ADD might even be a result of having to multitask -- as if the brain gets so used to hopping from one thing to another that it can't stop after awhile.
I find that if I really want to focus on something like my writing, I have to get all of the little multi-tasks out of the way first, so there's space in my brain to focus.

That sounds a little like me...only it is getting so the other little things are taking me over...of course, maybe I procrastinate...naw, I wouldn't do that. I do have other family responsibilities. Maybe a little of all of the above.
I need a vacation. :)

Hello everyone, I just found this group and am enjoying it already. I read a lot of historical fiction and mysteries and review them on my website www.judithstarkston.com as well as on Goodreads. I also love wide swaths of great literature--I'll definitely vote for Jane Austen and PG Wodehouse and Dickens along with Alexandrea and Marge. I've written a novel that's out searching for an editor (actually I have to do all the work--isn't that always the way with the kids!) and now I'm working on an historical mystery set in the Hittite Empire. Here's the "blurb" for my completed novel: "Hand Full of Fire tells the story of Briseis over whom the fatal quarrel in the Iliad between Achilles and Agamemnon breaks out. Princess of Lyrnessos and the city's healing priestess, Briseis is struggling with a violent marriage when Achilles attacks her city, killing her husband and brothers. Although a captive of this half-immortal warrior who has brought her nothing but loss, Briseis finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. Is it possible that in captivity she will find her greatest love and true inner power? I look forward to chatting about books with all of you!

I'm glad to be a member of such a diverse group. My name is Bill Palmer, I love reading, sports and gambling among other things. Any baseball fans out there might want to check out an article I just wrote for Baseball Reflections about an alternative to the Hall of Fame featuring a box of ball signed by Mother Teresa and Ron Santo's partially incinerated toupee.http://baseballreflections.com/2011/0...
Dear Rick,I would like to encourage members of your group to participate in three Top 100 Lists of All-Time that we have started for Literary Novels, Poems and Stage Plays.
The big idea is to identify and then vote on the best- of-the-best of all time in each of these three categories.
The three lists for Literary Novels, Poems and Stage Plays can be found here:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...
We hope ultimately to have three Top 100 Lists which could be published to rival, for example, the "Modern Library's Top 100 Novelists of the 20th Century," which brought so many serious readers to these genius literary novels.
We are looking for recommendations of genius works to which we could point serious readers among the Goodreads membership. We are not looking for mainstream, commercial or best-seller recommendations: Colleen is seeking nominations for these categories based on their popular, story driven, entertainment value.
I hope that serious readers of world-class writers globally will add to our three growing lists and express their best recommendations to shape the integrity of these lists.
Thank you for the opportunity to address your highly regarded group of Goodreaders on this project.

Congratulations! Poisoned Pen is definitely a powerhouse of mysteries! I live nearby and write for PP's blog. Barbara makes her selections with a discerning eye. Good luck with the new book.

Greetings,I'm Ray Shasho the author of Check the Gs -The True Story of an Eclectic American Family and Their Wacky Family Business. James and Clarissa Mason were actually customers of mine and I wrote about them in my new book. They surprised me with a very special gift for my wedding. Very happy to be a member.
HiThank you for the invitation.
My name is C.L. Ragsdale and I currently writing ebooks in a Christian Mystery Series called the Reboot files. They involve the adventures of Irene Waters, a once promising Christian reporter, and her cameraman the brilliant but reckless Troy Stenson. Through a series of separate misfortunes they find themselves working on a cheesy paranormal investigation show called Irene’s Eerie Adventures. Worse, they work for Reboot, a television station better known for hiring the rejects of the legitimate media than the quality of their programing. The three books are named The Mystery of Hurtleberry House, The Island of Living Trees and The Harbinger of Retribution. More Scooby Doo than chills and thrills.

Hello all! Thanks for the invite Rick! I love to read and I love meeting others who share my passion. So I look forward to getting to know lots of people in the group. While I absolutely love historical fiction (I am a former history teacher), I open to exploring other genres of literature.
Don't mind me as I read through some current/past discussions, rummage through the shelves and seek new friends within the group.

Hello, Good to be here. I didn't know about this group until I happened to see a comment from my Goodreads friend CL and felt impelled to add my two penny-worth. It looks like there are plenty of threads going. I'm Sue from the UK, I've been a reader all my life and can't imagine being anything else unless my eyes let me down. I'm also a writer myself, a trilogy of realistic Christian fiction with the third book about to emerge.Leviathan with a Fish-hookThe Monster Behemoth
Hello everyone! My name is Irene, I live in the beautiful Border country of Scotland, and (confession time!) I write books. I used to read prolifically, more than one book a day as a child, but nowadays I've slowed down a bit, largely in the vain attempt to keep up with the things I'm writing myself. So I may not be a very busy member of the group, but I shall come in now and again to cast an eye over what's been happening.Rick has very bravely added some of my books to his TBR room (I'm sure they form more than just one pile) so to save others a little time, I shall show you what's on offer. Nothing has yet made it to film, I hasten to add.
(All available for Kindle, or in paperback or e-book format.)
Thank you for the invitation - I'll see you all later!

"The Hotel Room" -- It was just another typical Friday night at the after-work watering hole and Bill was late, as usual. Kelly didn't mind, though; she was comfortable sitting at the bars and making new friends. Tonight, she seemed to be drawing a little more attraction than usual.
"The Cuckold" -- Mick always thought Carrie's lilting drawl and irresistible charm were the product of growing up in the South. If he'd only known it was South Dakota.

Hello, everyone! My name is Tracy James Jones and I grew up around Dallas and Waxahachie, Texas. I started writing while in high school with the help of a wonderful Journalism teacher. At Navarro College I majored in Journalism / minor in Mass Communication. Before college, I worked as an actor with the local Community Theater, and as an extra/stand-in for 2 award winning feature films. Writing is my passion because it simply is. Growing up shy, as far back as I can remember I have always been observant of people around me. I’ve always had a fascination regarding how they reacted in all sorts of situations. I love human emotions. It’s like if someone smiled, I always felt compelled to smile back, or if someone were sad, I felt sad with them. This compassion I have for others is often reflected in my work because it breathes life into my characters. I Like that. It’s an important factor to my creativity. It also speaks to the kind of person I believe I am.

Hello everyone here --I have been rather busy of late working on my 50th novel, a thing called Bismarck 2013 - Hitler's Curse; this on the heels of my Titanic 2012 - Curse of RMS Titanic. Curses are one of my specialties. I write series novels as well, and with Jove/Berkley published 11 in my most popular Instinct Series, favored now as a kindle title in Great Britain. I write a lot, you might say and am passionate about it. My Dead On Writing is a how-to. I live in Charleston, West Virginia with wife and step-children, and I teach at the local university to keep my hand in.
