Hi everyone! I am recently getting back into reading as I haven't been doing much the past few years. It is something I truly do love to do and I find I can learn so much from it as well as enjoy a light read. Anyway, I love pretty much all genres and types of books so if you have any suggestions I'm open to hearing them!xo

Hi Carolyn,
Your book sounds like one that I'd like. I put it on my Goodreads TBR and Amazon Wish Lists.

Hi there,My name is Dominic Smith and I appreciate the invitation to join the group as an author (thanks Rick!). I grew up in Australia and now live in Austin, Texas, where it feels like it's been in the 100s for years. I'm such a big believer in book groups and book discussion; so I'm thrilled that forums like this exist. Anyone interested in finding out more about my work can go to www.dominicsmith.net
My third novel--Bright and Distant Shores--comes out Sept. 13.
But more importantly, I look forward to joining the conversations among people who are passionate about reading!

Really cool site Dominic. Clicking on the different buildings reminds me of the things that DVDs do when you want to play something.
BTW: Austin, TX is a great place. I've lived there 3 different times. Once when I was still in the Air Force...the former base is now an International Airport.
Have a great one!

Hi everyone--thanks for the invitation Rick! I love to read memoirs, novels, misc. non-fiction. I'm writing a memoir, editing the first draft. It's called Growing Up: God, Sex, and Scary Stuff. Don't know where I'll go with it when I'm finished. I'm looking forward to talking to other writers and readers.
"Bestsellers" to you Marti. I'm sure she is busy with the Hurricane. You don't want to get me started on Hurricanes. Let's just say I was in Houston during Katrina and Rita. Enough said, I moved to North Central Texas as quick as I could. :)"By George, I think I got this reply stuff figured out. Thanks Lynn. My editor finally got her electricity back on, so "Triplets" should be coming out in a week or so. So glad she didn't suffer anything other than lost frozen food.
By the way, book 1 in my Highlander Series is now free on Smashwords and Nook. I'm trying to get it free on Kindle, but who knows when that will be.
Can you recommend some other threads on GoodReads I might enjoy? I have two new websites www.eformatters.com and www.1500authors.com , two old ones www.visitouramerica.com and www.firstchapterproject.com to maintain and I'm writing a sequel to Seattle Quake 9.2. Time to look for good discussions is limited, if you know what I mean. But if you're there, I'm in.

I am a Bulgarian fantasy fan, author and translator. I enjoy good books and good car racing. I love my friends, family and cats. I really like cats :)

Thanks Rick for iviting me to join, I feel that this could be a home for me as I love to read, and like lots of different types of books so struggle with single genre groups. I always have two or three books on the go, and only really avoid horror, and although I love 'who-dunnits' do tend to read earlier authors as I struggle with gore - just a bit wussy I guess. I work as a nurse, have been married 31 years and have one soon who is off to uni to study maths in a couple of weeks.
Currently loving Kate Atkinson's Jackson Brodie books, struggling with Pride and Prejudice (I know it's lots of peoples favourite) and wondering about Kafka.
Hi Jayne. Welcome to the group. I agree with you about the gore factor in some recent books. If you like old who-dunnits have you read any John Dickson Carr/Carter Dickson books. Also try Josephine Tey or Dorothy L.Sayers. Happy reading :)

Hi Rick, thanks for the invite. I'm a pretty avid reader and enjoy most genres. I'm also a Goodreads author and right now have a Free Giveaway event going for my book Doing Max Vinyl. The book is free through September 10. I would like to have more people reading and enjoying it and get some buzz going. To download my book, just go to Smashwords at this link https://www.smashwords.com/books/view... and use coupon code VT27M.
If you take me up on the offer, be sure to add Doing Max Vinyl to your "to read" or "currently reading" shelf
Thanks!

Hello there. I'm Denae and I read a little bit of just about everything. I typically read around 5-8 books at a time, which is less confusing for me than most people think. I also knit, listen to music, and game.

Yep, though no one has ever drawn a clear boundary between where multitasking ends and ADD begins, have they?
:) I think it depends on whether or not one has the ADD portion of ADHD. I've been tested and shown to have not but the same tests showed I do have some of the tendencies that manifest despite not having the actual disorder.
I'm glad you have that under control! I was actually trying to picture your bedside table in my mind, with a tall stack of books on it. I usually have just two or three books on mine, with maybe a slippery magazine and a couple of unpaid bills in between, and they all come tumbling down (usually just when I'm about to fall asleep). Or do you have a Kindle/Nook?

Jayne, I would certainly agree that 3 books at the same time is the limit.
Hello. Thanks for the invite Rick. I'm Darren, I live in the South West of England where I teach media and film to high school students. I studied US Literature a few years ago now and still have a passion for reading (obvioulsy), film-making and other creative arts.

I also occasionally listen to audio if I've heard from multiple people I trust that the quality is high. I do have the sliding off the table problem though, largely because of magazines.
Hello everyone! I've posted for a while on this list. I like to read as much as I can. If anyone would like to be Nook Friends, let me know. Take a look at my favorites shelf.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for inviting me here."
Uday, I'm from Flint, spent a year in Ann Arbor attending the medical school before switching over to East Lansing to enter the psychology grad program, there receiving my Ph,D. The cadavers in Ann Arbor got to me! But I remembered them in my novel OF GOOD AND EVIL. See Rick's great review of the book on my blog, http://geraldggriffin.blogspot.com

Thanks Rick for the invite. I am Angela and I live in Virginia. I enjoy reading and I am not tied down to one genre. Next, I would like to start reading books by authors for places outside of the United States. Kind of my own trip around the world. I look forward to being part of the group.
