Are we ready to start reading this tomorrow? I have a couple of overdue library books that I need to finish. So, if we start a little late I won't mind. Plus, I tend to plow through these books and read them really quickly.
I'm going to start tomorrow (hopefully )! I think I'll finish the book the I'm reading by then.

Since DQs have been failing a bit, do we want to continue them? If we do, since I'm getting an early start, I could volunteer for the first set, give others a bit of a chance to get settled in for it.
I'm in the middle of the prologue . I'll do the first set of Qs.

I've read through ch 14. I'm getting annoyed with Vanessa and with Rock. Plus, there is more suspension of disbelief required in this book. It would make a fun movie though.

So, book 8 in the series is supposed to be released (in the US anyway) on Sept. 1, just in time for out group. I just saw
on an upcoming releases page for Barnes & Noble.ETA: It looks like it's about Dan and a new character. I guess he'll have gotten over losing his wive by then.
Yes they usually get over their dead wife in a few books and then they'll find out that she wasn't as perfect as they though and she had flaws and they had married because they had a little bit of affection and the sex hadn't been good either !!!

ShoSho's Semi-Questions for Prologue-Ch 81.I really hope she doesn’t throw up! All the heroines in these books tend to throw up! A LOT! Well as it turned out in chapter 1 the hero is thinking about throwing up too :D I’m tired of frightened too easily scared and shaken and throwing up heroines in these books .
2.As it turned out all these people have been kidnapped and interrogated by Rock and then killed later . What’s going on is not a big mystery . The only mystery is the identity of Rwanda Don and I’m thinking it’s a woman . You ?

4.More than 2/3 of Van’s thoughts are about how gorgeous rock is admiring his physics ,Rock’s is about Van’s ass ! If we take out the sentences about his physical attribute and her fine ass the book would be something like 20 pages ! does it bother you ?
5. What’s THE Project ? something legitimate that turned to something criminal ?
6.How did he mange to build he tree house ? It’s too unbelievable !
7.What do you think of Van's problem with darkness and the reason for it and how it was solved ?

I would have said an optical bug is a camera , not a listening device ! Let me search a little bit
huh ok now it makes sense Optical bugs convert sound into an optical pulse or beam of light. Because they are highly expensive and very easy to detect, optical bugs are rarely used. Examples of optical bugs include active and passive laser listening devices.

This is highly sensitive and super dangerous and they spend every second drooling rather than being concerned about safety. Come on. I'm really tired of this theme inappropriate and unrealistic lusting after each other when h/H are actively in danger. It's so stupid and I don't buy into it at all.
5. What’s THE Project? something legitimate that turned to something criminal? I think it must have something to do with corporate and technology secrets. But, I'm not sure.
6.How did he manage to build he tree house? It’s too unbelievable! The man's got skills! He's had a few months to fix it up, but I do wonder about tools and the noise. I don't know that jungle enough to know if the noise would be an issue.
7.What do you think of Van's problem with darkness and the reason for it and how it was solved? So, she's afraid of both heights and the dark. Neither were an issue in the previous book when she was glued to an upper story window at all hours. The reason is believable. The solution too magical/incredible--I can't believe that she could solve a phobia from such a traumatic event that easily. And she knew why she had it, so why would saying it out loud once make a difference? And is she now fine with heights too? Anyway, Rock should rule the world if he's good at reading people.

I'd come up with some of the same questions you had, but a lot of others as well. I deleted them when you said you'd take first set, but I do know I was up to 12 questions at Chapter 7. I'd be pretty hard pressed to come up with questions for the rest of the book, as it wound up boiling down into the attraction every other chapter, and I skimmed a good bit.
I bought the whole series based on my enjoyment of Hell on Wheels, but like the Scanguards Vampire series I'm reading, I'll not be re-reading it and likely will delete it at some point.

ShoSho, I am so with you on this book. When Van has her "I love him" realization I was disgusted. She knows almost nothing about him. She's infatuated and has a huge crush. That is not love.Van had competence in the previous book. I guess she lost it in the six months between them. She clearly is a melodramatic mess in this one. And Rock isn't much better.
The plot was super thin, and all I could think is that it was written like a B action movie.

I have the first few books, and keep hoping that the series will get better. So far, it's been getting worse. I'm glad I got this one from the library. It was far from impressive.

The shower thing is actually easy to hook up and most deployed military have them in austere conditions at first until other arrangements can be made but where did he get the stuff? He's on the run so yeah pretty unbelievable

I didn't have a problem with her being afraid of the dark, I just had a problem with how she handled it. Just because you are afraid you don't have to act like a total damsel in distress, I wanted her to be tougher. And solving it that quickly was ridiculous.
This book is driving me nuts, I'll finish it tonight but I'm so disappointed. From the previous book I thought I'd really like Rock and Vanessa. They were actually my favorite part of the last book. Then they get their own book and the characters are completely different. I'm so tiered of the same old "I can't love her or anyone" storyline. Why does every male character in her books have some grand reason on why he can't be with the heroine that turns out to be a really stupid reason. Wouldn't it be nice if they just admitted they were attracted to each other and then let the relationship grow while they were on the run or solving the mystery! As for Vanessa, I was expecting a tough, strong women. I mean she is an operator and works with the toughest of men. She'd get eaten alive. I spent 20 years in the military working with a lot of guys like this and their weren't that many women but we didn't have anyone that was this scared, weak, weepy etc. The storyline so far is kind of ridiculous as well. I don't get Rock's big aversion to letting his friends help him. Too much just doesn't make sense and I'm not even talking about the unbelievability of the story just the characters.
Okay finished this book. ARGH! So many things about his book bugged me. It was such a huge disappoint from the expectation I had of the characters. And romance was there one? Yep, they were physically attracted to each other but Vanessa couldn't even decide if she believed in him. She kept waffling between believing he was innocent or guilty. I can't believe at one point she thought he might shoot her! And the thing I hated the most was the whole "Oh if I can only get him to have sex with me, he'll see that he loves me" I mean REALLY? If you are going to throw yourself at a guy and practically beg for sex after he has told you time and time again there is no future then you need to be okay with the fact that it's just sex and there is no future. I mean really, yes if you throw yourself at a guy and beg for sex and he's single he'll probably take you up on it. What he won't do is decide he is in love with you based on that! I gave my review 2 stars. I won't be re-reading this book or for that matter this entire series.
Danielle, I completely agree. I was also looking forward to this relationship and it was a mushy mess instead. When Rock (view spoiler) I thought, well just be even more stupid, who don't you? I agree that his panic over having his friends involved was over-the-top given their abilities and background.And yes, I guess Vanessa thought she had a magic hooha that could melt the man's chicken heart.
I also gave the book 2 stars, but will try the next one. I guess I'm an optimist--I keep hoping one will break the downward spiral of the series so far.

You have more faith than I, I gave up after book 2.
Well, I already own the next book. They are quick reads, so if its still bad, I won't feel the need to continue.
I'm late for this, but since school is out, and I own the book, and this is where I am in the series, I'll read this one next LOLI haven't looked at any of the posts yet. I'll do that when I catch up a bit.
