Santiago Draco | 1 comments Approximate date: Early 2000 possibly 1980-90 as well. Not sure of age of book at time of reading.

Protagonist is a woman who is involved in a galactic uprising and has become linked to a man who seems to have super human abilities (speed, intelligence, durability, etc) but his origins are a mystery.

Through the story we begin to understand that there are more like him and we question his motives and the others.

In one scene this super "man" encounters others of his kind and has a fierce encounter with one in some sort of cell and kills this other. The reasons why are a mystery.

We later learn that this man is a member of a super alien race that has the power to threaten humanity. However we also learn that our protagonist is really a created being literally formed out of the stuff of a godlike being who, as with others, is an evolved future form of humanity (I believe) far beyond the alien super being. He formed the woman, he tells her, in order to have her judge whether or not this super alien race should be allowed to live or not.

Any help finding this novel would be appreciated!

Andy Love | 2086 comments Two suggestions - Ventus by Karl Schroeder (Ventus ) and A Fire Upon the Deep (A Fire Upon the Deep) by Vernor Vinge . Neither is a perfect fit, though.
