In this post, I’d like to share my experience participating in a reading round. Recently, I joined the Review Group (https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/... ). After that, I explored the Reading Rounds section to learn more about the different reading group cycles.
Group 383 was in the Out of This World category. The group had a total of 10 members, and there was only one spot left. I first checked the other members’ profiles to see whether I had previously reviewed any of their books.
Then, I applied for the open spot with my philosophical science fiction book. In my application, I included my author profile, book link, and confirmed that there was no overlap with other authors’ books. The moderator reviewed my eligibility and added me to the list.
Once all participants confirmed, the reading and review schedule for the round was announced. I read the books of the four authors who came after me, and the four authors before me read mine.
To get the books I needed to review, I messaged the authors and either received their books as PDF files or read them via Kindle. I posted my reviews on both Goodreads and Amazon within the scheduled dates and shared each review on the group page, including links to both platforms.
Likewise, the other authors either requested my book as a PDF or read it through Kindle and posted their reviews in the same way. Each round’s moderator clearly outlines the general rules and process on the group board.
For those interested: There are currently two open spots in Group 385, also under the Out of This World category.
