Reading the second book of Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs series, Birds of a Feather, I am quite enjoying it. We find Maisie in London in 1930. She is a detective but also a psychologist. She has gone through hard times, but with the help of those who saw her character and potential she has risen above her poor beginnings.

She is resolute and loyal in character. She helps her assistant Billy Beale as much as he helps her. Maisie uses all her senses including her sixth sense.

The mystery of a missing women whose youthful companions are being murdered was interesting and hooked me.

I would advise fans of mystery series to give this one a try.

This is also one of my favourite series, but I'm now read all of the books she is planning on publishing in this series, so I'm impatiently waiting to see what she might write next.
